Anon seems right, they're all 4 star and up.
How the heck did Nathan build ava and the other machines by himself ? Apart from the hardware which would be extremely difficult to design and build by 1 human, how did he programm the AI software by himself ?

why are so many programmers, system administrators, security experts, IT personnel, and basically anyone who works with computers so arrogant and condescending?
they act like they know everything all the time and that everything is effortless for them and therefore should be for everyone else as well, never owning up to or admitting their mistakes, acting like everything is "no big deal" when it is their fault, but yet acting like the sky is falling when it's someone else's
yet at the same time this same group of people is susceptible to Dunning-Kruger's...

Because CS is such an overinflated field, that you have to make yourself look like an all-knowing god and make others like bumbling morons to have even a slight chance of making it

>How come every time I want to learn about game design do they start by telling me about memory management and pointers and linear algebra? how does that have anything to do

How easy is it to build a computer? I'm building my first one on Tuesday. I've watched about 10-15 different videos on it so far and I understand where all the parts go but I don't understand where the cables go and I'm stressing already. Will it be easier than I think it's going to be?
>>55277059
You'll never do it, it's impossible
alot easier than you'd think, the cables only fit in one slot in one way
you have a little 4 pin cable for the CPU power, a big 24 pin cable for the motherboard main power, sata power cables are pretty easy to identify as to where they go, and sata cables only fit in sata slots on the motherboard and the storage drives
most of its labeled, there will be a little name for each slot on the motherboard, and only one cable from the power supply will fit it
case fan and cpu fan pins are easy to identify, and they have a guide so you cant plug them in the...

Thanks. I have a corsair r100 and I was looking at it today and noticed a lot of really small cable heads that go from the front mic/headphone and usb front plate and it looked like a hassle. Nice build btw
What do you use? (Actual router with DDWRT? or PC with linux based OS)
Have you tried Clear OS?
is there anything else like Clear os as far as functionality / customization?
>>55276796 Actual router with openwrt is enough for me. If you want something to run in vm or x86 hardware go for pfsence and maybe ntop.
Have an old computer running OPNsense :3
Awesome, Thank you gents.
I'm starting to head back to my old ways when i was in highschool. Need that network monitoring rather than Cisco monitoring hahaha.
>At a microcenter (it was the one near DC) with my dad who also works in IT.
>Looking for a new video card and cpu cooler to replace my old water cooled gtx 480 on a system that I built back in '11
>browsing around and just getting a feel for what's new and trendy
>Being helped by a store associate on choosing a card when this older fat neckbeard guy with a Raytheon shirt chimes in and suggests I go with a slightly better card based on spec and price.
>Seems pretty chill and relatable like a irl /g/ Don't know really much about nvidia cards as I haven't kept up on the spec these days and this guy knows his shit about hardware T
>My dad (who was buying the card) comes over and also starts talking to this guy about video cards
>somehow the topic changed to laptops as my dad was also looking for a new laptop
>Out of the blue this guy suggests in his words "Oh for you I would suggest getting a surface"
>awkward moment of silence, my dad responded I work in IT
>Fat neckbeard guy Oh i'm sorry yeah I do sys admin work, I always vouch for windows since i'm MS certified.
>The look on him was just priceless.
Now my dad isn't a hardware person as much anymore and has been out of the sys admin gig for almost a decade now (last time was with Merrill Lynch before they folded), Currently does infosec auditing and SOX/PCI DSS compliance for the D.C government, so he knows his shit when it comes to basic knowledge. He was fucking pissed and I agree that It was pretty shitty to assume he was some kinda tech imbecile.
Does it not enrage you when "tech" people assume you are some kinda illiterate when they don't know jack fuck about you? Especially when they are low on the totem pole doing sys admin work or hardware related shit. I mean real fedora spinning shit and the worst part about it is it's ironically usually older people that assume old people don't know anything about technology and pull this age discrimination bullshit.
also fuck windows fags and fuck Raytheon
Microcenter bro seemed based, surface devices are quite good for the price and the capabilities they offer, maybe you should stop being a contrarian piece of shit who likes to guzzle /g/'s latest anti something hipster fad

I worked at micro for four years in college and had a surface 1/2/3... I'd consider myself advanced. Your fee fees actually make you just as dumb as the neck beard here, hombre.
Just recently built a new computer for myself, it was fun as hell. I want to learn more about PC hardware and I was wondering where you guys learned it.
I find LinusTechTips is pretty alright, I'm not sure if people hate him here.
Read around on popular hardware blogs too

Ask anyone on Overclock.net and Linus is NoVideo shill.
What is the point of Arch Linux? If you want a bleeding edge experience on the desktop or laptop why not save time and use Fedora?

What do you mean by this?

Because that name is hellishly autistic, besides that I don't really have anything against it.

There isn't one. I installed it once and it's literally the same thing as installing Ubuntu/Debian, trimming the fat, and using a shittier package manager. It's a learning tool more than anything

That is not the front panel connector. Looks more like a floppy connection (FD CONN)
Just wiggle a screwdriver around in there till you jump the right two pins.

Okay fa/g/s i have a question since we have no friendly nsa/windows general.
I want to set up remote access to my desktop which is running windows 10, from my laptop.
However, I want to connect to the desktop when someone else is working on it, without making that person log off. I created a new user account called remote access but I cant connect to it if someone else is using the main account. There must be a way to make this work.
To make things worse, the ssd of the desktop is encypted and encyption key is tied to the main account.
If none of you know...

This would be achievable using UnRAID. LinusTechTips has a pretty good set of videos on how to do it.

Why would you install tails?
