Why doesn't Nvidia rebrand the 970 to 1060, and release the Pascal card as 1060 Ti later when they actually have it. Better than having no official mid range card at all.
>RX 480 turns out to be complete and utter shit(as usual for AMD)
>AMDrones on suicide watch
>Nvidia offers savior for people who fell for the AMD meme by releasing the 1060 and BTFOing AMD forever
Everything's just been really well timed, anon. Just wait for a bit.
You're delusional if you think the 1060 will be any better than the 480. The 960 was complete shit and performed worse than the 380. Yet it still sold far more, because Nvidia don't need to have the best card to win. They can do the absolute bare minimum and get by, which is exactly what Pascal is and the 1060 will be.
>make ext4 filesystem (or any extX)
>by default it uses 5% "reserved space" for root and no defragmentation
>on a 2 TB drive that's like 100 GB unusable storage
Why would you want this? I just use mkfs.ext4 -m 0 (or tune2fs for existing) because I really want the storage and not this stupid overhead. With 0% the filesystem creation only uses <100 MB.
Isn't it going to be a horrible idea to daisy chain power like this?
Naw those are ok.
But I can show you a nuke.
Why are new phones cheaper on eBay than other websites? I want to buy one but I feel like I'm gonna get scammed
With so many people buying them from such reputable eBay sellers, there's just no way they aren't telling the truth.
Or at least, that's what I want to think. Pic related deal ends in 16 hours and I really wanted the phone, but I'm very skeptical about their profit margins
>buy AMD gpu
>End up losing $150 because it kills my PSU
>$150 I couldve spent on a superior Nvidia card
Why is AMD the budget brand?
Help my pc fell off my desk, no visible damage so far but whenever it boots it displays that there has been a disk boot failure, i looked in the BIOS and checked the physical cables but i dont see any problems. help
I'll just pair up my rx480 with an i7 6700 just so I won't suffer from driver overhead and will get my money's worth from AMD.
You're the first person to make me believe in paid shills on /v/. You've been spamming this quite literally all day, despite seemingly having no real idea what you're talking about or how it affects anything. Haven't seen you link the original Digital Foundry articles about it even once, funnily enough. Worried that people might actually learn something? :^)
Hey /g/ I have a question.
So someone left their phone at my place after a party and I tried asking around but no one said it was theirs. Its password protected so I can't just open it.
Is there a way to unlock the phone without wiping memory?

Is the guy maintaining this a /g/entooman?
Isn't it a phenomenal work? I really love it.
I need help /g/ . It's the middle of the night and I want to surprise my girlfriend by going over to her house. I don't have any data connection but I do have GPS on my telephone. What app allows me to put in directions and navigate without wifi or data. Basically doing this offline ON my bicycle.
>tfw wait for RX480 in hopes of a 970 price drop
>tfw the RX480 performs worse than 970
>tfw nvidia will probably increase the 970 price since no competition
I'll be flying back home for vacation.
The following will be in my hand luggage:
Mobo (in anti-static bag, inside box)
Processor (leaving it inside mobo)
HD (antistatic bag, inside foam shield)
SDD (in box)
GPU (no antistatic bag, but it'll be in the box with foam shields)
CPU cooler (in the box)
PSU - It's too big to fit in my carry-on so I'll be leaving it in my checked in luggage.
Will I run into any issues with airport security?
Lastly, will my graphics card and SSD be okay without antistatic bags?
don't do it man, you'll catch hell if it's in your onboard baggage, and if it's checked that shit's gonna be thrown around bigtime
why not just take a craptop and maybe put your hdd in an external case
In a bit of pickle, g. I can't decide what would be better for gaming and general use.
Building a comp for a friend for their birthday and I can't decide whether to pick up two Xeon x5670's and put them in a dual socket motherboard or just give them my i7-3770k build and I take the Xeon one.
Those are the two processors i'm working with right now... with just between those two processors what do you think or what would you do?
>tldr; Choose between dual Xeon x5670's or an i7-3770k for gaming and general use.
For gaming the 3770k will be better because of the higher single core performance
Unless your friend plans on doing a shit ton of rendering or encoding or similar parralelized task, give him the 3770k.
well the x5670 is a 32nm gulftown part, essentially a first generation i7-970, but clocked a little slower.
So it's nearing 7 years old and 3 generations worth of IPC improvements from the 3770k.
At identical clock speed the X5670 will be ~25-40% slower depending on exactly what you're doing. However, the 3770k is clocked ~500MHz higher, so it's got another ~10-15% performance increase over the X5670.
So while the 3770k is only a 4 core/8 thread CPU, it's per core performance...

I was thinking of getting a Dell Inspiron 15-7559 for gaming, game development, video editing and music production. Should I do it? The specs seem fantastic for the price:
I really don't want to get alienware because it's for absolute faggots.
just be ready for the worst build quality you have ever seen
i have one aswell, left mouse button doesnt work, keyboard was never clipped into place correctly, and the screen was somehow off to the right by like 1/4"
