>He doesn't own a UPS
What's your excuse, /g/? Just waiting for that power outage or surge to turn your thousands of dollars worth of equipment into expensive paperweights?
>>55302711
>thousand of dollary doos
my rMBP will just switch to battery no harm no foul

_Protip(TM):_ Do NOT plug printers into a UPS :^)
I have one (bottom left corner).
It's nice to have a movie on or something playing while a storm rages outside, the power flickers and you dont give a shit> just keeps playing.
Mine lasts about 25-30 minutes on battery.

Can't check desktop without a display. I don't have anymore HDMI compatible displays.
I have a laptop with HDMI port. Can I show the display of my desktop on my laptop screen?
>>55333990
What about crossover either net cable? Is there anyway I can check in my desktop?
Additionally, I have an old spare dvi monitor. Problem: my ggc 960 doesn't have a dvi port. The dvi port on the motherboard wouldn't display to dvi.
I unplugged GPU and connected dvi to the slot on motherboard. It still wouldn't display. Recommendations?
>>55334011
If you're using even remotely modern hardware you don't need a crossover cable ever.
>iGPU not displaying anything
Sounds like it's fucked
>>55334023
The lights still come on. The fans spin. Problem is the GPU doesn't have a dvi slot. All I have now is a dvi monitor.

And? Isn't the point of Linux that you aren't limited to the defaults if you don't want to be?
>>55333721
The point of linux is allocating the machine’s resources to programs and back; the usual stuff a kernel does.
How do you compile nginx without SSL on FreeBSD?
I tried to compile it from ports. Deselected the HTTP_SSL http_ssl_module in the make configuration options GUI. After successful build ran
> # nginx -V
and it shows...
> configure arguments: [sic] --with-http_ssl_module

I bought a Bluetooth headset for work because I can't stand the Plantronics set I was given. Since PT dongles only works for their own sets I need to buy a Bluetooth dongle.
Is there ANYTHING I should know to separate shit from gold or are they all the same?

What Bluetooth standard it uses. Higher version # = better
Just buy whatever one you can find cheapest. I got mine for ~$1.50

Why is Microsoft the only company that is incapable of learning from their own mistakes? That bullshit Windows 10 operating system has all of the same issues every other Windows operating system had. Why do people still shill this? Is it because it's "convienent?"

youre bound to have conflicting software when literally every software from decade ago still works on your system, same goes for bloat too

Sup /g/, I have up to this point been your average windows user occasionally tinkering with linux, have taken some basic CSC courses, been familiar with it all my whole life.
But recently windows 10 auto installed with what I can only assume was some buried permission button I clicked while using windows 7.
This is upsetting, as I have known windows 10 to be anti-privacy, even more than 7. I'm taking the time to wipe my traces, hopefully not too late.
What I'd like to know is that if I set up two partitions on my hard drive, one with windows 7/10...

No, but even then if youre worried encyption is literally just 1 click while installing ubuntu.
>>55332088
Windows is very capable of reading and formatting in ext4, but I don't believe it could ever boot from the format.
And OP, just encrypt your Linux installation. If you're booting one OS at a time, as opposed to some kind of VM setup, Windows will only ever see an encrypted Linux partition.
>>55332068
I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn...

Hey /g/ I have a question. It is even possible to recover this conversation?
>>55332038
I happen to be an expert blur reader.
It says you're a faggot.
>>55332038
Sharpen is the opposite of blur.
Just like division and multiplication.
Just get GIMP and use the sharpen tool.
Works best under gentoo
That's some pretty strong fucking blur but I wouldn't be surprised if some text-recovery algorithm Google or the NSA have could figure out enough bits and pieces of it for you to use your imagination to piece together.
Not sure how you'd go about convincing them to do that for you though.
