Old one is dead so it's ThinkPad General time again!
My question to you guys: is it realistic for me to purchase an X230 (tablet or not) on ebay/whatever and expect a 100% working machine for at least two-three years?
The reason is that I'm far away from 'Merica so if something goes wrong, the warranty and the returns will be out of the question. (unless US Lenovo warranty will work in russia - I highly doubt it)
Is it naive or there is a chance?
Where should I buy it from?
Also, if you know: what part breaks/has faults most often or earliest in the X230?

Yes. Many Thinkpads easily last 10+ years. The X220/X230 is not quite as sturdy in my experience but five years should still be a non-issue.
Expect the display to develop white spots if it's an IPS though. Hard drives also tend to fail more easily especially if they are the 7mm variety often found in the X230. An SSD will make that a non-issue.
>>45335948
I expect hard drives, RAM and batteries to fail or degrade over time, of course. My biggest concern was the display and the motherboard, because I won't be able to find quick replacements for them. But I was planning to switch to SSD as soon as possible (for both speed and shock "resistance").
Five years sound fine for me. Thanks!
Why do you not yet have the best price/performance phone on the market in your possession?
>>45332710
>price/performance
I take it you drive a Mustang as well? And that we should all be driving that shitty car?
"Best price/performance" means "I'm fucking broke andthis is the best I can afford."

Some people just love to spend their money wisely, since they aint getting their shit paid for by mommy and daddy like most of /g/.
Why does /g/ get so upset when attention is paid to aesthetics in hardware or UI?
Would you rather that all your hardware be ugly, clunky, and have a user-hostile UI?
Explain your reasoning in five sentences or less, image is optional.
>>45337949
Aesthetic obsession has turned computers into something so dumbed down that even a nigger can use it and so poorly made that nobody can fix it.
>aesthetics in hardware
Goes with hardware that people don't actually want to look. Also computers are tools, not toys.
>aesthetics in software
Makes a simple software in a turmoil of colors that doesn't help in nothing with it's use, most of the time it makes things harder.
KISS, babe.

>KISS
Don't ever use that term again.
Do you have a stupid question that doesn't deserve its own thread that you're itching to ask the many weebs and dweebs here about?
post it here
>have windows 7
>want to have print screen capture and save images instantly like most linux distro's
any freeware out there do this without requiring an internet connection?
So I managed to corrupt my windows 7 install after 4 years, and I can't remember the site I got it from.
I really don't want to risk torrenting from piratebay or something like that, so where is the best place to get windows 7? I remember the version I got was a website that came with a guide, and showed you how to verify if your copy of windows was legit.
Also, would it be worth it to upgrade to 8.1? Or should I just wait until something better comes along, maybe windows 10?
How would I be able to update my Nexus 5 to Lollipop 5.0 stock ROM from CM11 4.4.4? Would I need to also flash kernels, recovery, GApps?
Does /g/ backup it's data? Or are you a tough enough dude that takes RISKS.
Who cares. This thread is now about Obi-Wan.

Do you think he'll make an appearance
in spirit
in Episode 7?

Also, Deepin is nicer looking.
I been using Freya 0.3 Beta for a few months now. Still get hyped about the daily updates.
What is the current new hotness among hipster web frameworks? I currently use Rails professionally, but being aware that I'm working for hipster business logic processing stuff means that it's going to get replaced with some other nonsense in the near future.
So what is it? AngularJS? Ember?
>using web frameworks
Code it yourself, lazyass. It ain't hard.
