Does /g/ have any experience on web development?
I made a simple web application, something really simple with chats. The question is:
How do I get users on my website? Do I have to spam it?
>>45647636
I don't get that picture. You don't know how to chalk up a cue?
>>45648214
its magic chalk, right?
>>45648214
People put it on without knowing what it does
So I just got my very first big boy job as an IT-Technician, who also sits in the HelpDesk twice a week. I've just started on my second week, and I'm already going conclude that my userbase is utterly retarded, when it comes to IT.
>Lady wants to make a folder
>It has to be send out on A3 in 200 copies, each for a different person
>She already has it ready in A4, in a 800 page long document, because she just imported all the data from an Excel list

>"I logged into my account and it says my password has expired and I need to change it"
>me: "okay.....and how can I help you?"
>"I dont understand what to do"
After 1 year, Ive confirmed its not that technology is hard, its that people are retarded
>>45643108
>"Oh no, I don't have time for that. You do it!"
if someone said that to IT, they would probably end up fired the next day when their manager heard about it.
>agency has been consolidated.

hello /g/
in ~30 minutes I will go offline to install arch
got a new ssd
I want to check the current plan with you
>installing arch from usb on to 512GB crucial mx100
use btrfs for the file system
create top level subvolume named @, the ID 5 one
then mount @ subvolume with mount flags
defaults, noatime, ssd, discard , ssd, autodefrag, compress=lzo, space_cache
create subvolumes inside @
/home /boot /var /tmp
install the arch in to this - pacstrap
finish the rest of the installation by the beginners guide
>>45647857
>I booted in to to arch successfully
- create user and sudo and all with it
- install alsa
- install xorg stuff
- install xf86 inputs and video drivers
- install mesa
install i3, dmenu, termite
>DONE
Any objections?
just install gentoo
>>45649076
reiserfs for /tmp

Are you ready for your download and upload history to show in the data that forensic experts are currently looking at?
Are you ready for that data to be given to studios?

OSX is alright. Almost any UNIX-based OS is solid. Not a fan of iOS though.
Why is OSX so fucking gorgeous?
Are internet communities dying? almost everywhere I go is atrocious - it's near impossible to have a serious discussion about technical matters without getting epic-trolled or just having really dumb vicious fanboys destroy any chance of rational discussion. Where do all the smart reasonable people hang out?
>>45635284
Not Youtuber
Completely serious here, try some of the more specialized subreddits.
>>45635284
Youtube comment sections are the absolute worst standard for internet communities as a whole.
Places that are hard to access like inconvenient/outdated web forums still have good people. Really specific niches of interests generally do well too in most places.

What monitor is /g/ using and whats a nice 1080p monitor for gaming that isn't too expensive?
HP LP2475w
Color accurate
XL24iiZ
144hz 1ms gtg at 1080p.
I have two of them and they're great, make sure you have multi sli to reach over 144fps in most modern games though or go with something at 60hz.
:)
I have 4 GTX 980's that barley let me hit 200fps in most games.
>>45636699
looking into the ASUS VG248QE.
144ghz
80,000,000:1
1/ms
and built in stereo
There exists no 1440p monitor at 24". The smallest I can find is 27".
Why.
My asshole's not quite ready for 4k yet.\
Monitor thread.
whats the matter with 27"?
>>45636050
Too big for me. Plus the upgrade would only be like 10% more PPI in comparison to my 23" 1080p monitor which isn't enough to be worth it for me.
>>45636050
24" is already too big for desktop use. Your eyes have to gravitate away from the center of the display to see everything. 27" is full retard. Moving the monitor further away negates the clarity advantage of a higher resolution.
Monitors would be better served to become smaller, higher resolution and moved closer, not further away. I think desk mountable monitor arms should start becoming the standard for display stands.
Desktop Edition

Don't flatter yourself, it never has been, never will be. There seem to be a few more people acknowledging what Apple does well instead of blindly shitting on them non-stop, but everyone recognizes their many, many flaws, particularly/primarily in terms of desktop computers which most of us care a lot about. They make damn good notebooks but their desktop lineup is almost universally awful, though for an AIO (which no one here would want for ourselves but might be ok...
