Got gifted a i7 5820k and I'm currently shopping around for parts to make this cpu work. I can across a problem and that is finding the budget for it..
Anyways I managed to find a 8x2 ddr4 pc 2400 for $60 and on that same store they have an identical ram stick that's priced at $120. The only difference between the two sick is that the cheaper one says udimm and the other says dimm. I tried to google the difference between udimm and dimm but I failed to find out what makes the other one cost so much more than the other. Does the dimm version overclock and the...

I dont see the difference between the two. Why one is considerably more expensive than the other (other than shipping time) I dont know.
Grab 2 of the cheaper set, as the 5820k requires 4 sticks of ram.
Alternatively, find a 2x4GB set that suits your needs and grab 2 sets if you dont want to go to 32GB.
And to answer your question of DIMM vs UDIMM, the first simply states that it is part of the Dual Inline Memory Module technology, which has basically been in use since ye olden (i486 and the like)...

> nobody has ever been able to install arch linux by hand
> everyone says they have but they all know they're lying
> nobody wants to admit it because they are afraid of being made fun of
I've done it a couple of times on a few computers. Don't see anything really magical about it.
Did you get stuck in any of the simple steps despite the fact there's a million of guides/forum posts for it on the internet ?
Does reading the guide don't count as "by hand" ?
It's fucking easy.
The hardest part in installing arch is getting an internet connection. The rest is piss easy a monkey could do it.
Do you use a wrist rest for typing or for the mouse?

It's hard to tell someone they fucked up, especially when 100+ dollars are involved.
For that I really have no good advice.
To best you can really do is help her prepare for next time. I'd put in some personal time getting her some sick deals for a budget build that's not shit.
perhaps donate some spare parts if you got em.

I feel your pain, OP, sucks she had to learn tho hard way. Kills me that such a shit tier company will probably turn her off. Nvidia... not even once.
Has any group tried porting android to another kernel?
Android/Hurd would be interesting.
>>50782987
I was thinking more like android/windows
>>50783265
Windows is an OS. NT is the kernel.
"In short the HSA foundation is banging the drum on their new offering, one bit of hardware ‘done’ and several more in the pipeline. With support from AMD, ARM, Imagination, Mediatek, and a bunch of others, the future looks pretty solid for the standard. Add in a growing number of tools, compilers, and language front ends and you have the makings of an ecosystem. It’s been a while in the making but I think we can say FSA/HSA is finally here."
Does anyone here actually believe Intel done goofed on this?
Damn that's a jewy jew.
Intel will buy the HSA patents for their own use, incorporate it into their CPUs, problem solved.
>>50782909
Wouldn't all the founders agree to this in order to actually happen? That's too much to solve with simply buying shit.
The drivers for this will be hacked to work with Windows 7... Right?
>hacked drivers
Yeah, because that's so common.
Especially for non-important shit.
For the price of just the stick alone you could get a used DS4, a cheap bluetooth dongle and xbone analog replacements.
Why waste your money on the inferior option?
there are 2 scenarios, it will either:
work on win10 without and 8.1/7 with drivers
or work on win10 with drivers and not at all on 8.1/7
i ordered one anyway but had no plans on upgrading from 7 to 10.
whats the hottest your cpu ever got?

It clocks out for the day if it crosses 80 degrees Celsius.
It happens bi-weekly.
Bangs on the 95 Degree limiter like an engine at redline all day, baby. And yet she trucked on like this for the last 6 years.

is there any free software to let you play blu-ray movies on a PC? VLC doesn't work.
pls respond
how do you linux niggers do it?
OK. When you say bluray, do you mean like a bluray disc? I think, by your question, that you don't know what question you're trying to ask.

how does it feel that 3DCG artist know more technology than most people on /g/?
to be a decent artist in 3DCG you have to know:
-math (geometry/trigonometry)
-programming (scripting and custom addon creation)
-sever admin (you have to create a server farm to get that rendering fast)
-optimization (calculating the best polygon quantity in a 3D work)
useful but not tech related:
-art basics (anatomy, light, colors, perspective)
-sculpting
-multitasking (most of them know about modeling, rendering, shading, drafting)

>-math (geometry/trigonometry)
Not technology.
-programming (scripting and custom addon creation)
Scripting is simple as fuck, very few 3DCG artists go into addon creation which is actually technical.
>-sever admin (you have to create a server farm to get that rendering fast)
Handled by the IT department.
>-optimization (calculating the best polygon quantity in a 3D work)
Not technology.
What monitor are you using?

Usually just the NSA.
IBM L170.
VGA, 1280x1024, made in 2004. Big and ugly but it'll probably work for another few years at least....

So now that the internet is getting fucked are you welcoming the genesis of cyberpunk?
>forced to develop alternative software to keep our freedoms
>physical storage increases in popularity to avoid getting fucked
>encrypted IRC rises in popularity
>message boards will segment into smaller websites run by pirates and hackers
Will you be part of the resistance /g/?
I kinda hope we get something like TTIP or net neutrality gets passed so we can usher in another epoch of experimentation and open source dominance when faced with every increasing censorship and the systematic killing of hardware curiosity.
>they are taking your porn away
Did that piracy shit bill pass?
Not like I give a fuck. I have a VPN.
