man that is really sexy, I'm too lazy to set up an Arch Linux distro just yet tho
I really need to build a new computer so I can actually play my steam games, but my life is currently (always) shit and I don't have the motivation to get started. Where should I begin to look for parts? Should I just plow through NewEgg and just pick components or should I go through someone who specializes in building computers and customize it? I want a small tower that will fit a motherboard of not reduced power that can attach to a CRT monitor. I REFUSE to use those fuckugly LCD displays. I also want a video card that is QUIET. I REALLY wish I could find a good one...

pls respond
Give me your budget and I will make a build for you but you do have strange requests.
>>51231025
Lel yeah I realize. My budge is basically $1k. But I expect to spend MUCH less than that. I'll never be playing shitty FPS military clones or MMOs, so I don't need some shit that renders a fucking real-time VR simulation of an entire planet's surface. The most impressive thing I'd ever play would be like StarCraft II or Magic Duels or something. Also, I want Windows 7, because everything later is ass.
what was your first computer?
Mine was a 1999 compaq presario
A hot wheels desktop with flames all over.
>>51230895
Some custom built MSI rig.
Don't remember everything about it but i know it had these colorful bubbles on the sides.
What do you prefer, /g/? Buying actual textbooks, or just downloading them?
Is it more efficient to study from the actual physical books?
I prefer physical.
But you get so jewed with text books I rather just pirate that shit
>>51230456
same basically. For whatever reason I find reading and actually studying to be way easier (or maybe just more comfy) from a physical book, but end up pirating a lot of my shit. For a few classes I'd pirate the textbook and if I found I was using it a lot I'd just take it out from the library for the whole semester (yes I was that guy)
Download and print out the material on the university printers then put them all in a pretty binder.
Ultimate anti-Jew way of learning.
Here is a build I'm planning to get soon, my budget is around $700 - $720.
I'm gonna use it to play vidya like Ark: Survival Evolved and Kerbal Space Program
Will this be able to smoothly run stuff like Ark: Survival Evolved and Battlefield Hardline at max settings?

You won't be running Ark at max settings. That game runs like shit.
Absolutely retarded, overspending on your case among other issues
I'll post a PCPP link with suggested changes in a second
>>51230488
how about medium or low settings? Will it be able to scratch 50 fps atleast?
>JUST 40 bucks
>perfect in every way

I have been thinking about installing Arch recently. Is it even good? If so, what distro should I get, or should I just install vanilla Arch?
you should just install gentoo desu senpai
>>51230230
install arch with openbox senpai
I might come off like a shill but I'm not paid nor do I even USE Arch but it's pretty much the perfect distribution for an average /g/uy.
All the hipster bullshit obscure software you want to use is flatout easiest to install on Arch and even if you bloat the fuck out of it, /g/ won't insult you for it because you obviously just WANT the bloat.
As for which ``distribution'' of it to install, don't go for Antergos. It installs an extra repo with convenience/quality of life packages in it and installs files in such a way that programs...

What's the best way to apply silver to my processor /g/?
>>51230196
single dot the size of a pea, or a small line of equivalent volume.
depends on the shape of your die, read THE FUCKING MANUAL.
I usually use my penis as an applicator

Scrap it around the sides with your debit card.

What's a graphically capable (Fallout 4 on low settings is the most I'll need) laptop with a proprietary dock?
/tpg/ was some help but they're all under 500, which I'm willing to pay more
any ideas m8's? Any help is appreciated.
>inb4 universal docks
>they've cancer
>>51230076
>proprietary dock
What does that even mean?
>>51230093

How much are you willing to pay? If you contact Lenovo by phone you can order a Thinkpad with dedicated Nvidia graphics processor. They're only being sold through Lenovo.
Sup ni/g/gers. I hear you're always praising AMD. So I thought I'd have a bit of fun.
Name four, exactly four, reasons why AMD>Nvidia.
Four reasons because that's how many gigs of VRAM my GTX 970 has.

It's full of popups though, much like win10 which /g/ seems to like a lot
Will the next one be round?
>>51229711
Round displays are pretty stupid for displaying content though. But I don't care about smartwatches at all. Probably one of the stupidest "innovations" in tech lately. Completely forced and useless.
>>51229711
They'll spend almost all their effort increasing the battery life for the next model.
>>51229711
I'm already wearing a watch in this shape only in a mechanical form but I think it was a good decision from Apple to choose this type of display over a round one because: >>51229754 and people really seemed to like the shuffle as a watch as well, which has the same shape.
I know you guys get this a lot, but I'm looking to build a $1,000 gaming PC. The main problem I'm having is that everyone's opinion is different on what is considered the best for the money. (Pic not related)
So? You think you'll get an unanimous response here?
>>51229670
It's worth a shot I suppose.
