What's your dns provider, /g?
Is it really just a meme fan or is it any good? Personal eperience?
If it's bad, are there any good alternatives?
Should I get a 64gb nexus 6 for 400€ or a 32gb nexus 5x or suggestions for other phones in that price range

# New & Revised /dpt/ Code of Conduct #
We want to ensure that the /dpt/ community, while large and diverse, remains
welcoming and respectful to all participants. To that end, we have a few
ground rules that we ask people to adhere to.
- *Be friendly and patient.*
- *Be welcoming.* We strive to be a community that welcomes and supports
people of all backgrounds and identities. This includes, but is not limited
to members of any race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, colour,
immigration status, social and economic class, educational level, sex,
sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, size, family
status, political belief, religion, and mental and physical ability.
- *Be respectful.* Not all of us will agree all the time, but disagreement
is no excuse for poor behavior and poor manners. We might all experience
some frustration now and then, but we cannot allow that frustration to turn
into a personal attack. It’s important to remember that a community where
people feel uncomfortable or threatened is not a productive one. Members of
the /dpt/ community should be respectful when dealing with other members as
well as with people outside the /dpt/ community.
- *When we disagree, try to understand why.* Disagreements, both social and
technical, happen all the time and /dpt/ is no exception. It is important
that we resolve disagreements and differing views constructively. Remember
that we’re different. The strength of /dpt/ comes from its varied community,
people from a wide range of backgrounds. Different people have different
perspectives on issues. Being unable to understand why someone holds a
viewpoint doesn’t mean that they’re wrong. Don’t forget that it is human to
err and blaming each other doesn’t get us anywhere. Instead, focus on
helping to resolve issues and learning from mistakes.
I'm a huge /tech/-newfag, so saging is adviced, but I would be very thankful if you guys could help me out real quick.
Will TTIP, if it passes, bring the same web-destroying bullshit to europe as TTP does ?
Should I start pirating my ass off to have a lot of shit in stock until i2p catches on.
Should I start uploading to i2p ?
how do I make the download bar in google chrome go away automatically?
the experiemental flag was removed
"download manager" slows down startup ridiculously after about a month of use (up to 5 seconds). unacceptable
"always clear download" resets the saved folder every 5 seconds. unacceptable
inb4 switch to firefox. can't, too many sites still use flash
>switch to firefox. can't, too many sites still use flash
Are you implying that Flash doesn't work with Firefox?
yes. i had been using firefox since it was called firebird but had to make the switch to chrome when I made the switch to windows because the shitty adobe flash kept crashing multiple times a day
chrome doesn't have issues with (its own version of?) flash
use "Clear Downloads" addon
its shit because it basically just deletes everything in the download bar leaving you without a download history and the save to folder will be reset.
But I prefer it over having to manually close that shitty bar
The CB3 Acer Chromebook is on NeweggFlash right now for $110 "refurbished". Should I buy this instead of a new one for $160?
I was about to go buy one.
It's a significant discount. 2/3rds of the original price, though.
Although, who knows what could be wrong with them. They could be bulk sells from a school or something and those gross kids fucked with them.
Objectively, the best PC build if you don't care about gaming, if you are not autistic :
I know you aren't my personal tech support. Running chkdsk now I am on windows 8.1. What is the best method of backing up before it is beyond saving?
Get Linux in a flash drive and a drive of equivalent or more space. Plug the hard drive into your computer and boot off the flash drive. Go into terminal and identify which drive is which. This is supremely important. Once you've identified which drive is which, run
>sudo dd if=/dev/sda1 of=/dev/sdb1
But replace the drive names with the names of your drives. "if" is input, "of" is output, and most likely the "dev/s" part will remain the same when you run the command.
Okay I understand all of that. Problem is I don't have another 1TB hard drive. I have to 500GB hard drives. How could I split the clone to 2 drives? I really appreciate the help.
Don't listen to this guy he is trying to wipe ur drive
The freezing trick is best.
Put the drive in a ziplock with about 2 oz of water. Roll it around so the whole thing gets damp.
Freeze for at least 8 hours. I do 24.
Keep the pc unplugged while reattaching, and be ready to copy to another drive or a CD-ROM as soon as you boot!
Any of you use Win10 Enterprise to avoid the tracking shit as much as possible?
Hey /g/, I'm a total newbie trying to make a simple code on C++ that counts the number of time the largest digit of a number repeated itself as an assignment in school, but I can't seem to get it right. Can anybody help me?
Here's the code if anyone's interested
/g/ is not for assignment solving, but I have one advice for you: your program is basically the translation of the procedure that you mentally use to solve the problem by hand. If you have no idea how to solve the problem by hand, you won't go far in your program.
The problem is easy, but C++ isn't the right language for it. It's more suited for a functional language. By recursion you can construct a list (or ordered binary tree, for more efficiency in finding the latest digit) of digits given a number, and you can then analyze that list.
Here's a quick implementation in Scheme, assuming you have remainder and integer quotient procedures defined:(define (digit-list n)
(cond ((< n 10) (list n))
