Why is Ubuntu so unpopular on /g/? It's so comfy.
unity
>>51250546
It's mostly because Unity is ugly and impractical. I'm a Fedora user myself, but on my desktop I run Ubuntu Gnome so that I can be certain shit won't break.
Ubuntu is fine, Unity is shit.
Ubuntu XFCE is god tier.
>"They trust me - those dumbfucks"

MasterRace-tier Operating System
Hi, any ideas how to change pendrive "capacity" to 512 gb?
i don't know shit, but i'd guess you'd have to loop the original capacity somehow.
>>51250234
Isnt there just some kind of data in the beginning that tells the computer how big it is and sort of gives out a grid to locate data? I know that if drives go down you can sometimes save them by grabbing the table from a good matching drive and copying it over. Kinda like a key for a map.
>>51250234
yeah it's simple, you overwrite the firmware that tells the chip it has X amount, to instead read that it has Y amount.
Now...what programs to use, how to edit the firmware, what values to look at, I can't help you with that.

I think, right now, we're in the calm before the storm.
Companies are starting to wise up to adblockers now that they're having significant drops in revenue from them. Youtube Red is the first major example of how they're going to get creative.
Through our collective use of adblockers, we're going to be pushing these websites to come up with creative ways to take our money. Like Viruses adapt and evolve because of vaccines, mainstream websites will start putting more and more content behind a paywall as time goes on.
So, what do you guys think the...

it will only get worse from here on out, with the combination of mass use of adblockers and data caps

It's ok. Nothing on the internet was really good enough to pay money for anyway.
if you make something worth keeping, people will pay for it
if you can't afford to run a website, you shouldn't be

Hey /g/, what's the best program for getting files from my phone to my computer and vice versa? Preferably free.
drag and drop
If the files are small enough, just email them. Otherwise, use your usb cable to move the files directly, or an SD card or other compatible removable media.

mount
Hey /g/, I guess this is kinda against the rules but whatever. I have a question about digital wallpapers, anyone know a program that can basiclly create a digital wallpaper as pic related? Have been playing around with diffrent programs but everything is either to basic or a way too ugly/clunky ui. Also general wallpaper thread I guess.
The fuck are you even asking? A wallpaper is just a picture.
I got abstract curves from GAODT
>>51249875
I guess you might call it a "live wallpaper, google it.
Why is Western technology journalism so shit? All they do is suck corporate penis and accept the status quo.
>people before profits
fuck outta here with this populist commie shit
most people are trash, i'd pick profits over them 100% of the time
Because journalism has been replaced by bloggers.
When people think they can do a job without spending time to learn of how it have worked in the past.
When people build houses without a degree, things fall apart and there is substandard solutions.
When people get in charge of programming without a degree, things become inefficient and insecure.
When people do journalism without a degree it becomes shitty marketing.
Linux will win in the end
How did Firefox get so slow? Not even memeing here, I've been a Firefox user since Firefox 1.5.
But Firefox with no addons but uBlock, absolutely chokes on large websites where Chromium with no addons but uBlock is perfectly fine.
Is Mozilla even trying to compete in speed?
>>51249486
it's because you have a integrated gpu

I really don't though. I have an R9 290.

Found your problem OP.
hello comrades! lately, Ive been realizing that my degree (english literature) was a complete mistake, should've stayed with computer science or psychology even.
Anyway! i was wondering, is there anything I could do on the side that has to do with programming. Kind of like freelance journalism, but with writing code I guess and instead of it being for free, i'd get paid.
I'm familiar with html, javascript, java, c, c#, c++, unix infrastructure, perl, and php. But, to be honest, I'd probably have to spend a few months relearning/refamiliarizing...

Or a... tutor or ... a teacher!
So many options!
>>51249490
I'm already a tutor/editor for my city's newspaper. Let's just say there's a chance I might be homeless in the next few months unless I can start making more money...

Like do you mean selling them or doing them? Open for either, although meth might be bad since I like my teeth and they're probably my only good physical feature :\
