How did you guys learn programming? a story would be cool too
>>51251683
I didn't. I'm a complete beginner and I google and read 5 hours a day. It's hard and confusing at times but I'm so happy there are tons of documentation on everything.
>>51251956
Same position, though I'm still a college student.

I bought a computer . Read books. Thats about it.
Zen Thread
>Zen is supposed to have around 40% better IPC over Excavator, which was probably taped out sometime in 2011 or 2012
>Zen is refocusing its attention on SMT and single-core performance - although Intel only has one extra thread per core with HyperThreading, other SMT chips have had up to EIGHT
>Zen is going to be on a 14nm node
>Zen will be refocused on single-core/single-threaded performance, but retain the high amount of cores seen in...

So basically Zen will compare to an i7 920. Nice.

>8 core
>haswell-tier IPC
>14 nm
>SMT
>comparable to fucking Nehalem
>>51251648
You're right, it's not comparable to Nehalem. Maybe we'll get lucky and it will finally outperform Phenom II's though.

I'm done with lagdroid, thinking about getting a WP and I'm liking the lumia 1020 and 930. Anyone got had/have these phones and how did you like them?
>>51251255
stay away from lumia.
that's it
new WP coming soon with win10
>>51251255
My brother has a 930 and loves it. That's all I can say, although I had and liked a 635. Or was it 640? Can't remember. Good though.
The only two clamshell/flip phones I know of that boast any kind of modernity to them are the Wine and the Samsung G9198
As I live in the US, I don't have easy access to either of these. I'm strongly considering getting one of these as an early Christmas present for myself, though, because I really like the idea and I also miss my old Blackberry Pearl Flip, but it's so outdated I can't even use it for most things.
Does anyone here have any experience with these phones, buying them, importing them, getting them to work with
T-Mobile
...

Why the hell C languages need a compiler?
I have two months of Python and can't understand why they can't just use an interpreter.
But you can: https://github.com/zsaleeba/picoc
>>51250851
Python has a compiler. Check your __pycache__ directory.
They can. It's slower.
Is it worth 2,000?

Hey /g/,
I'm getting these periodic lagspikes (every 30-40 secs or so ) every few nights for about 3 hours long , like 21-24h
I know this isn't a question that can be answered with 100% certainty, but can you please suggest some possible explanations to this?
The problem is obviously with the ROUTER-PC connection as seen in the picture.

How much does Apple respect your privacy? The NSA files showed they were the last to start giving them any information, but is that still their policy?
>>51250656
Yeah I know about their public stance but the question is what the reality of it is. Google says they respect your privacy and they're one of the worst companies if you want any level of privacy. Microsoft is doing their absolute best to be worse than google with their nonstop spying POS OS and forced updates.
It's literally gotten to the point that if you want some level of privacy you either install Loonix/BSD/GNU or OSX Of course you can't escape hardware backdoors but it's better than...

>How much does Apple respect your privacy?
Apple is holding off the prosecution lawyers in a drug case.
The accused has pleaded guilty but they still want to force Apple to crack the guy's old (de-cryptable) iPhone. Apple is refusing.
It's getting interesting.
