I have 2x 4gb of RAM inserted, by my PC is only installing 4gb.
PC has a 64 bit processor and operating system (Windows 8 Pro), Pentium Dual-Core CPU 2.94GHz and the motherboard (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5G41TM_LX/specifications/) should take the full 8gb.
I have updated the BIOS from here (http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P5G41T-M+LX&p=1&s=22). I have tested both sticks individually in both slots and they all work fine on their own.
What am I missing?
>>51259689
>>>/sgt/ not your personal tech support
32bit windows installation?
>>51259741
>oh my god someone asked a question
I can hear the board collapsing already, this is the end of times.
Does /g/ buy an extended warranty/care plan for their tech?
>>51259632
Yes.
Especially if it's BestBuy.
I once jewed BestBuy out of $70 with my extended warranty.
I shattered my $200 monitor, and had the 3 year warranty for it.
I bought it 2.5 years ago, and the price had gone down $70.
When I took it in to get a replacement, they gave me a full refund for the original price I paid on a BestBuy gift card.
I bought the same monitor new, and had $70 left on the gift card.
no. i have never needed any warranty
warranty for tech is for retards
So what exactly is each one of these for?
Green for speakers/headphones, pink for microphone, what else?
>>51259631
surround sound and woofer
4 for 7.1 systems, 1 microphone, 1 idk
>>51259631
Huh, I dunno. Couldn't be a 5.1 onboard, right? Nah, couldn't be. It's probably just there to make you angry when you plug the cable into the wrong ports.
Hey /g/ !
For ...reasons... I need a watch that allows me to track multiple timezones.
For example, I am in timezone A, but I want to be able to know what time is it in timezones B and C also (for example by pressing a button).
At the moment, the only solution I found is carrying two watches with me, one per wrist. A lot better than pulling out my phone every flippin time. But it's also 40% moronic, and I recognize that.
So, what watch do you recommend?
The ideal watch would digital and cheap, and possibly have some other nice features...

Is it really that hard to remember the timezone offset and add/subtract it? It's fucking basic addition.
That' said, there are a ton that do this.
What's wrong with just adding/subtracting? Just remember how much you have to add and subtract for your timezone.
>>51259604
Git gud and do the math in your head. It's at 30 min increments anyways, how hard can it be?
Is anybody else seeing the creepy ass shit Facebook is pulling?
They can listen in on your conversations now.. Anywhere your phone mic can hear, Facebook can hear.
The only way to guard yourself against this is taking the brown pill.
>>>/trash/40797
So what? They can hear me taking a dump.
Unless your some business official with trade secrets or some bullshit, I don't see why you'd care. Sure they probably can listen through microphone, but the algorithms probably run it through something like Shazam to hear if you're listening to any sort of music. I doubt they keep /use /have a human actually listen for anything else... Imagine the amount of space they'd need for every fucking person.
Also, I have some tin foil left over from my Costco pizza if you want it for your hat collection. Still...

>you have Facebook apps installed
why would you ever
When have you used discrete math, linear algebra, calculus, or higher math to solve a problem?
ur tripping me the fuk owt man
>>51259539
All the fucking time, but I'm a physics grad student.
mon-fri. do you even know where you're at lil nigga?
Salutations /g/entoomen, i recently acquired one of these HP Stream 13 laptops, and wish to replace Windows 10 with a Distribution of Linux. I don't care much for Ubuntu or Arch, and Gentoo is just a meme at this point. Would /g/ be so kind as to recommend a distro for me?
>>51259492
Nizzo, is that you ?
I dont know what HP was doing trying to market this to normies
after win 10 and office the thing has no HD space left at all
its really funny to see just how many of them we get returned.
>>51259492
If you need to ask.
Get a mac.
If a game doesn't utilise 100% of a cpu, why is it faster on one or another?
If it's 70% load on a weaker cpu, but 40% load on a brewery cpu, that's still not a bottleneck, so why does the game perform better on one or the other?
>>51259450
>>51259456
>>51259464
Does this mean that even when not under 100% load, a cpu will always be a bottleneck?
I never post on /g/ but I'm considering buying a laptop good for gaming and I'm wondering what you guys recommend. No fancy descriptions please, I'm pretty new to this.
Pic unrelated.
>>51259409
A Chromebook and a gaming desktop.
Seriously. Very few people have a need for gaming on the go, so with a gaming laptop what you end up with is an expensive computer that isn't very good for gaming and that isn't very portable.
>>51259409
Anything with at least a gt 840m or higher, or r9 graphics.
>>51259455
This. Of course you need to install a Linux distro on the chromebook if you want to escape the botnet.
I got an invite, should I buy it /g/.
I'm currently using a galaxy s5 mini which is actually running quite smoothly. I'm also a bit concerned about the lack of removable battery because it might render the device unusable 2-3 years into owning it.
>>51259362
it will be unusable 2-3 years anyway because quality control problems
>>51259362
Wait for reviews anon.
>>51259362
Oneplus X is shit m8. Give the invite to me.
What do you people use for playing music on android?
I've been using phonograph and while its not perfect or anything, it sure seems like the best option at the moment. Don't like how you can't turn off downloading artist work or how it doesn't search the podcasts folder unlike shuttle.
I use GoneMAD.
It's alright I guess. I just use it because of the Opus support for Kitkat.
BlackPlayer EX
Poweramp
Can someone redpill or convince me to keep up using LaTeX?
I love it for simple stuff? But for other things it seems confusing and I get lost in trying to find out how to do a particular thing.
>>51259215
git gud scrub
Generally if doing a thing isn't simple, leave it and rethink what you want.
I love it for writing essays
>Using a laptop
>Plugging an external keyboard
Is this retarded or an I too pleb to appreciate the meme?
shut up dawg
>>51259236
>failed education 10/10.
>>51259206
either you bought a really bad laptop or fell for the mechanical keyboard meme
I'm saving up to get my Mom and my Grandma an Apple Watch for Christmas. Before you say anything, they both use iPhones and iPads for Work. Is this a good idea? Would it be beneficial to them?
>>51259182
not in particular.
it hasn't really improved my life in any significant ways.
i do like it as a fitness aid/tracker.
>>51259182
old people are too out of touch with technology to understand how to use the watch properly
they also won't be charging it daily so it will end up consistently dying on them and they'll bitch about it because they don't understand technology
>>51259182
Don't. I regret mine immensely.
Does Linux not have something as basic as an inverting cursor? Really?
>>51259117
Pointless waste of resources.
>>51259117
I have a middle finger pointer cursor
Invert would be cool but annoying
>>51259117
> this is actually important to winbabbies
