Wouldn't creation of a real AI eliminate like 90% of all programming positions?
Like why would you have hundreds of people programming and modeling and shit when you could just spend some money to buy an AI that could program and model/animate/etc... in a faction of time with virtually no errors and just Hire an director and a concept artist to tell them what features to make and what to make the visuals look like?
>>51278143
Why use a tractor to plow a field when you can use a horse? Modern technologies eventually become old and redundant and the same will happen with programming a computer.
Eventually an AI could just replace the concept artist because the AI knows exactly what we want.
I sure hope the AI could spell better than you. Well, it could happen but it is not that likely. This sounds like the whole virus that can program itself. It just can't happen anon. Humans have deeper, detailed, and more powerful brains than AI. An AI only has what the programmer added, but they could give it the option to learn. That means you would have to teach it like a child. It's easier just to hire programmers.
>>51278601
>That means you would have to teach it like a child.
But wouldn't that mean, once you've taught one AI everything, it can then copy that knowledge endlessly to create an army of AI programmers?
Going to be installing Linux on my laptop tomorrow, what's a good looking, functional and somewhat simple distro?
gentoo
>>51278121
install arch linux, that is assuming you have an IQ above 100. All other distros are for noobs who require their hand to be held because they lack the intelligence to understand a complex and intelligent OS like arch linux. the brightest minds would use something like arch linux
>>51278142
this is a meme, don't fall for it.
>>51278121
Damn small Linux
Puppy linux
Arch linux if you want your basic know-how without a GUI
Gentoo if you have a lot of free time
Hey, im trying to build a simple website that consists of a frame which displays content (Some Buttons, Images and so on). The Canvas containing the content is going to be much bigger than the frame and i basically want to be able to move the content underneath. I do not want the content outside of the frame to be visible.
Any advice on how to accomplish that?
I've got no Web-Development-Skills to my name, I've only used Node.js so I know a bit of javascript.
Attached is a mockup, greyed-out area basically should be invisible, background and buttons should...

Learn to use div's.
Don't use frames it's 2015 ffs
>>51277975
you can make use of the CSS scroll property, along with specifying sizes for your containers, etc

Newfag here,
how can I get into CAD?
Which Software is the best for a newfag like me?
Any ideas?
CATIA is pretty good.
It's rather user friendly and it's what Boeing uses to design their aircraft.
>>51277924
It depends on your needs, but SolidWorks is an excellent software, very intuitive and easy to use.
Start with PTC Creo, its good.
>>51278252
CATIA is only useful when designing aerodynamics, other than that, its shit.
the nightmare is finally over for me! thanks /g/!

huh? he's a prodigy and an inspiration to other inventors who overcame so much to get to where he is today

How many clocks have you invented?
Every time I install linux, I get feed up with all the glitches, work arounds, inconsistencies, artifacts, etc etc
>I had to log add myself to "dialout" group, save all my shit, log off and back on to be able to write to a COM port...
And you complain that windows needs to restart once a moth for updating...
An yes, I will still use linux for all my unixy stuff because I hate OSX even more, and all the unix for windows layers are shit.
>>51277763
tfw theres no glitches, work arounds, inconsistencies, artifacts in my Linux installation
tfw didnt have to reboot in weeks

Why is /g/ so obsessed against cpu/ssd stickers on laptops?
I get the hate for stickers on the lid, but what's wrong with the one under the keyboard?
the laptop looks cleaner without them
>>51277762
imo stickers of any kind are just a form of peacocking. any true pro doesn't need to show off their subjective preferences to everyone in the room. being a "sleeper" has benefits
Hay /g/ i have project in school. Could you answer a question?
>Whitch are the best router manufacturers and why?
Not TP-Link because they're shit.
>>51277720
Hard question to answer. Different routers are good for different purposes. There are routers with very long Wi-Fi-range other routers have high speed ethernet ports and limited wireless capability.
>>51277720
Depends largely on use-case.

I'll go first.

>>51277566
Pros : It's not Windows
Cons : It's not Windows

You have source code of it so if your task requires making changes to kernel, you do not depend on vendor doing it.
Even without making modifications to kernel, not depending on vendor can be very beneficial for business.
r8 me /g/, how can i improve? I'll post the wallpaper here if you guys want.

Talk about and post pics your server setups, be it home, colo or VPS (i.e. the one in lithuania you use as a tor exit node you filthy pedo scumbag), networking equipment and what-have-you in here, no matter how unsightly it may be.
keep the bullshit to a minimum as per usual.

Legit question time.
How many of you are using some form of EoP (Ethernet over Power) network to get networking to your servers in a home environment, and what version of HomePlug are you using if you are?

Broken screen Laptop guy here (d430, quiet and low power usage as fuck)
Debian 8.2 using it as a database and web server
Probably gonna switch to Ubuntu 15.10 because I'm still in the evaluation phase and having new packages is useful when trying to get things working development-wise
>>51277461
I have an HP microserver gen8, hw specs are:
Celeron G1610T (fast enough for my need and very low on power consumption)
16 GB DDR3 ECC
1x WD scorpio blue 320 GB
2x WD red 3 TB
Host OS is CentOS 7 with qemu+KVM running 7 VMs: backup, DNSCrypt + caching, jabber, mail, torrent + DLNA, owncloud (installing and configuring it right now) and syncthing.
Running a rpi1 to host my website and torrents, and a rpi2 to host a wiki of mine (just powerful enough to run mediawiki). Both with Arch. Great fun!
However, the wiki need some good backup solution. What's your guys setup for that? A usb stick with systemd timers (or cron) backing up the database every other day? An external drive `dd`ing the whole disk?
Kinda sketchy running the wiki from the memory card though, will everything but boot over to a memory stick when I've got the time.
If any of you can tell me he to how to fake live pic on kik I will give free copy of fallout 4 for Xbox one on steam.
I'm selling the Xbox and buying a ps4 so I don't need it and I can also give you the Xbox one for 340$ no shipping
Just post ur steam and if the hack works I'll give it to you

Where can I buy GOTY Logitech G400 mouse?
I'm living in EU.
I think that all other models are dogshit compared to original G400, but do they even make these anymore?
>>51277368
they all got marked up by like $100
i think the next best thing is the g402
>>51277387
>they all got marked up by like $100
WTF?
Also, what the hell is Logitech thinking?
>Yeah, so everyone wants the G400
>Let's not make them anymore!!!
>>51277413
They stopped making them like 2 years ago. I don't know if any other mices are better than it because i haven't needed to upgrade from it.
The g402 might be the same and/or better. but yeah they're jews for not making them anymore.

Looking to replace mye receiver with a 2.1 integrated amp, to run my Klipsch rf52mk2. Should have integrated DAC, though not a dealbreaker. Prices are derived from my currency.
Any thought on these?
Primare i22 DAC $1000
Hegel H80 $1200
NAD C356BEE $700
Rega Elex-R $1300
I've also been looking at some used ones, though not much of interest around here right now. Was a decent priced Primare i30, but it went to a different buyer.
No insight? Am I on the wrong board?
That's pretty cheap for the Primare i22 with the DAC module installed.
>>51277474
Yeah, it's marked down from around $1400, it's actually $100 cheaper than one without in the same store. Leaning towards that one. I have a friend trying to convince me to go Hegel, it's won some rewards here, but I figure a Norwegian amp in Norway, sure it's getting praised. Not saying it's not good, but I doubt it's that much better than everything else in the same price bracket.
