Server Hosting thread
Im looking to pay for server hosting and have done some research. I want to host a mumble server(about 10 users) and a personal project or two.
What companies do you guys use, and how beefy of a server do I need to host crap?
I want to run arch linux on it too.
>I want to host a mumble server(about 10 users) and a personal project or two
>and a personal project or two
What are the projects you fucking idiot? A "project" could be anything from a webpage to a neural net, and the amount of resources you'll be recommended hinges precisely on what those projects are.
I want a simple sort of push notes to a server and store them to look at later. So you think of a movie you want to see, you can push it to a specific list so you dont forget about it. crap like that. Id host a simple website too.
Would a VPS suit me better?
is there any major downsides to it?
>Would a VPS suit me better?
>is there any major downsides to it?
If you get an OVZ from a crappy host, other VPSs on the same hardware as you might occasionally go rogue and steal all available resources.
If your VPS is KVM (it should be) then there are no downsides.
In fact, there are several upsides to using a VPS over a physical server, but they're mostly dependant on what features of the VPS manager the host exposes for your...

Let's have a file-managers thread.
Who still /98SE/ here?
Implying 95 OSR2 isn't the best. No more trumpet network stack, USB in all its shiny shiny glory ... 98se is literally the same as a fourth round at the all you can eat ice cream station
hold both shift keys and type:
THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPS OVER THE LAZY DOG
Holy fucking shit, these niggaz are serious. they will continue to shit out android phones. this one looks like a bastard -and somewhat retarded- child of a Leap and Q5.
Still, where's the fucking new BB10 phone?
I'm an engineering student with a somewhat above average resume and experience, I'll be graduating in less than a year.
The problem is, I don't know if I'm going to be able to.
I used to go to hackathons, hold events and meet with people to talk about all aspects of technology. I used to enjoy engineering school and I used to enjoy a a geeky conversation around some cool beers.
For a year or-so, I have lost all interest in almost everything. I used to enjoy staying long nights working on projects that would solve real-world problems, then...

sup /g/ I'm a heavy gamer and currently I'm sporting an i5 3570K, 16GB RAM and R9 290 with dual 1090p monitors. When will the good stuff be out as for now I fee like upgrading would be a waste of money. Will there be anything interesting coming out in 2016 or is it all shit muh 5fps improvement crap?
I want to make something very clear to /g/. We applefags think the ipad pro is a joke. A huge fucking joke. We were hoping apple would deliver an amazing pc tablet capable of running OS X but it can't. It's just an insanely overpriced ipad tablet, literally a waste of money.
If you see someone talking about the ipad pro telling you how it's better than a surface pro, they are a paid shill. Apple is literally shitting their pants because almost nobody wants to fucking buy this abortion. Eventually they will have to sell them for $400 just to stop them from taking storage space. They are currently paying shills to shill this piece of shit not just on 4chan on on numerous other forums.
If you are a macfag and buy the ipad pro you are literally eating shit out of your own two hands. It CANNOT run OS X, I repeat it CANNOT run OS X.
I love my macbook pro and I think it's better than any laptop out there but I would never ever buy a fucking ipad pro. If I wanted a tablet to play angry birds all day I would just buy an ipad. There is absolutely nothing "pro" about the ipad pro.
So bad that even apple shills refuse to eat shit from their hands.
What is the world coming to, /g/?
Pic related, kek.
Did not know the God of /g/ was the Bassist and lead Singer of Slayer.
let's see what /g/ have.
I'm ashamed of you.
Northwood core because muh temps.
> Razor blackwidow loud as fuck when I use my blue yeti
Need a new keyboard <$100
1: Don't use Razer products
2: Don't use a switch, based off of blue, that are made specifically for typing for extended periods of time....literally blue switches are made for typists.
3: Since you wasted $150 on anything razer branded, you should take it back/sell it to another pre-teen and get a ducky w/browns
How much data do you use per month /g/?
Do people only buy android phones because they can't afford an iPhone?
Which DNS server are you using, /g/? :^)

Today I was booting my PC and it was doing some updates. When it was done and I got to the screen where I enter my user and password, it froze. Just a blue screen with windows logo below, not even a space to enter the password in. Then it started flashing black and back to the blue screen with about 1 second intervals. Forever. Nothing I can do except move the cursor. I'm a fucking artist, all my wip commissions are on my computer, if it turns up I can't retrieve that data I'm going to kill myself and/or a lot of other people.
