Hey /g/, I need some advice.
The computer I am currently using is shit. I am talking like real shit tier.
>tfw can't run Spec Ops The Line
>tfw can't run Rust on lowest graphics
>tfw 60fps on CSGO at lowest settings
The main goal I am trying to achieve is being able to run games such as Battlefront on with high FPS on good graphics. I also want to keep a budget of 300-400$, although I do not mind shelling out an extra 50$ if it's really worth it....

Kek, no thanks.
If you block ads you could miss out on helpful information such as this.
Now I know what to look out for before an impending Heart Attack, but did you?
>>51432397
> frozen peas
yeah thanks i'll be out on a lookout.
What information? Maybe post a pic?
apparently the advertisers haven't heard of trypophobia
>There are people on /g/ right now who dont own even one shortwave broadcasting/receiving device
Disgusting
u mean a cell phone
>>51432335
my car has a radio. it gets both FM and AM.
>>51432639
>u mean a cell phone
cant broadcast or receive AM you dingus
Ok /g/ais, I'm sick of big data. Ready to toss the smart phone.
What's the /g/ recommended "dumb" phone?
>>51432113
so you want to ditch a phone because of big data? You know that even 'dumb phones' can still be used to track you?
>>51432113
/g/, need your help.
This is the hard drive from a laptop that belonged to a very famous author... yes, you've all probably heard of him if you're in the english-speaking world and one of his books are part of curriculum of most HS's across US.
Anyway, I am friends with one of his kids and I they found this HDD in one of the boxes that belonged to their father. They are certain that this is his drive because when they looked at his old computer, it lacked HDD. They are hoping this HDD contains all the drafts and ideas from his unpublished works....

IDE to SATA adapter is what you need
>>51432100
that's an IDE? I had no idea they made laptop drives with the same interface as the 3.5" ones.
Any ideas about software I'd need?
>>51432164
It should mount like any other hard drive, as long as the computer can read the filesystem
does anyone else hate this fuckwit as much as i do?
I've seen three videos of him ranting about the pointlessness of trying to be anonymous on the internet without giving a single spec of actual information.
i get it, we cant be truly anonymous. but for fucks sake, you cant have truly safe sex either, but you can improve your odds.
what is the most reliable way to be anon on the internet? i mean as anon as you CAN be
Who?
The most reliable way is to not post on 4chan.
Think about it this way: If you leak your IP to anyone you've already lost.
>>51431988
yea, if they wanna get me for postong on the chans, then they've already got me. im talking about for deeper pursuits
Is being a Razerfag really that despicable?
Semi-related: I've no clue what kind of nice gaming mouse to get since my current one is dying. Any suggestions?
razer has mid-tier quality products and are the most expensive.
I always associate people who buy razer with people who drink monster all day.
As for a mouse, go with a g502 and never look back.
>>51431859
Razer products aren't trash, people just think they're worth a lot more than they actually are. Also, i second what >>51431880 said regarding mice.
>>51431859
Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical 1.1A if you play a lot of FPS. I have had one for six years or so, and it's still in great shape. It's big and has a 400 DPI sensor.
Don't assume that heavily-branded and flashy peripherals are superior.
Toasters are technology.
ITT: we discuss things that toast bread
Contact grills are far superior to normal toasters. Can your toaster make steaks? No? But my contact grill can, and make toast at the same time!
>tfw no Waring Heavy-Duty Switchable Bread & Bagel Toaster capable of up to 360 slices per hour
>>51431838
That sounds like fun.
No fun allowed.
Good buy or did I fuck myself?
Return it and buy a 6s.
Zenfone 2 is best performance for money.

>6s

What's the point of water cooling? Wouldn't cooling the inside of my laptop with water just make the water hot since my laptop gets hot?
What the fuck can you freaking cool with hot water, plus water ruins the hardware.. I really don't get the appeal of people trying to get stuff because they sound trendy.
i don't know much about liquid cooling except the superficial stuff, but it seems to be more than you know, so i'll try and help you out
liquid cooling involves some cycling of water and a cooling apparatus outside the machine to cool the liquid once it's been heated.
it also uses oil usually, since water has a pretty high specific heat.
>>51431692
>Liquid cooling
>Laptop
No, nobody does that. Liquid cooling requires large radiators to be effective at all, and laptops just don't have the space for that.
In general, (custom) water cooling is more effective than air cooling.

I'm bad with video ports and the such, so this might be a stupid question, but I can't find a solution on google. I've installed a gtx 750 ti and the monitor I have is VGA, and the card DVI, it comes with a DVI to VGA adapter, and the DVI parts go together fine, but the VGA parts will not connect because the parts have bolts out the front that prevent them from connecting. Is there a certain adapter I need or do I need a new monitor or some shit?
>>51431690
Wait... what?
So the adapter (pictured) doesn't fit on the port on the back of the graphics card?
You have:
A NEW GTX 750
An OLD ASS MONITOR with only VGA
And the adapter, pictured, right?
Which port does your graphics card have?
>>51431690
Are you saying that the plug on the cable coming from your monitor, has screws like this one (pic related) but they are too long to allow you to connect the VGA (from monitor) to the adapter (OP's pic)?
What are some good psu brands?
>>51431503
Gentoo
>>51431503
The ones that aren't shit
>>51431503
Ive personally had good luck with corsair and evga
Any netbooks that don't use intel?
>netbook
>dedicated gpu
>>51431247
I don't understand this japanese meme image
>>51431247
you arent going to find a dedicated gpu + good amd cpu for cheap. let alone it being amd + nvidia
Are smartphones basically dead? Every single one of 'em looks exactly the same. At least three years ago the Galaxy S2 and iPhone 4S had new features.
Other companies will mimick 3D Touch.
Why would the stagnation of smartphone hardware design mean that smartphones are dead, OP?
You sound like a kid who's growing impatient that his new toys aren't novel anymore.
>>51431198
3D Touch is amazing for one use. Sliding between apps with a swipe from the edge of the screen. Without applying pressure it just goes back in whichever app you were using. But with slight pressure it goes to the last used app or the switcher. Makes me love the 6S.
I have an LG g4 but am craving an iPhone 6/6S.
T-Mobile won't let me get one without paying the G4 off first
I have two Moto G 2014s, one in excellent condition, another that was dropped once and has scratches on the screen. Is there any way where I can successfully sell the phones at a price that will help me out with the cost of the iPhone?
Any help would be appreciated
>>51431169
>I'm just craving underpowered hardware and a locked down OS
>>51431197
I really don't make much use of the power that's an the G4 anways lol
I've never read anything more spoiled and first world than this.
OP if you are living with your parents they need to slap some sense into you
