C was intended to be used procedurally, however, it's been shown that one CAN code in an object-oriented fashion if they follow certain guidelines. My question is: is it better to code procedurally in C, or is it acceptable to use it as an object-oriented language?
The first language I became proficient in was object-oriented, and thus, I am most familiar with that paradigm. I'm looking to learn more about C and start some projects with it, but I feel I need to understand how to attack problems using procedural logic, as it's natural for me to think of solutions in terms of objects.
>better
what the fuck does this even mean?
How much of the power or OO do you even use? Pretty much everything I've seen people use OO for would be expressed just as well (if not better) using generics instead. OO can be very powerful but I feel like its use today is like using a jackhammer to hammer a nail in.
>>51515914
I guess I mean either in terms of efficiency or what is considered to be stupid.
Like, you COULD (kind of) program functionally in C, but why the fuck would you?
>>51515977
I'll look more into that. I'm still trying to find a convenient way to transition from an object-oriented mindset to something more procedural so that I can actually come up with design patterns that are efficient and maintainable. I don't want my different paradigm...

Not OP but I'm using a torrented OEM version of Windows 7 and it works like a legitimate copy. I also have the ability to upgrade to Windows 10
What's /g/ opinion on ips displays? Are they worth it?
>>51515796
yes.
/thread
>>51515796
IPS is a requirement for me in a monitor now. It's an incredibly noticeable difference. If you want to know just how much, get an IPS monitor and use it alongside your old monitor. It will be visibly jarring switching to the old shitty display.
I got the cheapest IPS monitor I could find and it was an AOC for $135.
Colors are crisp and way better than my old monitor, but it's so fucking bright. Even with online calibration help I still needed to use flux just to stop it from killing my eyes at night.
>tfw I need a new laptop.
>tfw all of the new ones come with Windows 10.
I'm scared, /g/.
given lenovo with superfish and now dell you'd think windows users would know better than to use any windows machine out of the box (i.e. without a fresh reinstall - and thus whichever version you want since you're wiping it anyway).
but I guess people like OP post to remind us that even on /g/ there are tech-illiterates.
>tfw OP can't dual boot
>tfw OP can't VM
>tfw OP can't say fuck it and install your OS of choice on the HD if you don't like/know the first two choices

HP x360
I don't care that it spins. I was looking at getting the XPS 13, but I can get a discount on the HP.
I need it to last me 3 years. Study, downloads and light gaming - dota 2 and cs go. I need them to run smooth.
What are the negatives?
There are a lot of things wrong with this post but the most egregious is the fact that you attempted to take a screenshot but hit the volume button before the power button.

Is Google Apps worth paying for?
Their cheapest plan is $50 a year, which is not a crazy amount.
But what are the actual advantages for those that don't own a business?
The Google site sucks ass at telling the customer why this is worth paying for.

Would it be worth $50 a year?
Do you get more storage? more stability? better integration with other services? What?
You have to pay for Google Apps? What the fuck. I've never had a problem
I was planning to make my first gaming build and I have one put together here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/t4qqjX
I would appreciate it if I could get some feedback or suggestions on it. I already have a nice ssd and an OS lined up. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me out.
Most generic build on the entire planet. GPU is aight, nothing special. Decent choice on the psu, consider a 750w.
overall looks good so far
i can nitpick though. personally i would go with a evga supernova g2 line. they're built by super flower and based off of their leedex platform. long story short, fantastic power supply quality.
overall the cooler master v (vsm) line has scored well on review sites like jonnyguru. iirc its built by enhance boardwork.
since you're going with a 4690k i would go with at least a cooler master 212 evo. its cheap, but amazing. $30 cooler that coolers like a $60 cooler. it will provide decent overclocks.

Last week I had the opportunity to work Fossetcon in Orlando. This was my first time doing anything of the sort, and my job was to assist the various speakers - Lodgings, travel arrangements, scheduling, you name it, hell even some janitorial duties.
Our main speaker was Richard Stallman, and he was handling the keynote. We had some problems with the PA system so there was some delay. On account of Richard being the first speaker I was instructed to notify him. I’ve been a huge RMS fan - so this was big for me. I’d hoped for a chance to speak with him at length, ...

Is it really worth waiting a year for?
It's not even going to beat intel's last gen.
>>51515322
You know they have not finished developing it yet, they can still improve the chip during that time.
But you are true about not going to beat intel last gen if the 40% performance boost stay like that.

>Is it really worth waiting a year for?
Worth is an entirely subjective thing. If you had an existed intel i7E and needed more performance then you obviously wouldn't have any interest in Summit Ridge whatsoever.

The Zen core arch is entirely finished. AMD will be starting runs of engineering samples any time now if they haven't already.

How does this work?
Because if the video is right and that's what the Fidelios sound like I'm gonna throw my headphones in the trash and become a male prostitute for a month or two so I can feed my quality audio addiction.
I thought these xiaomi headphones were meant to smell like chocolate? I can't smell anything.
