I have this old ass canon scanner that doesnt have windows 7 drivers, because canon sucks assholes. the only program that supports it with its built in driver is VueScan, but the free version puts watermarks on the scans. and other software cant access it with the installed driver from vuescan... is there any way else to use this goddamn scanner on win 7 64 bit?
ive tried serials from the net to register it to full version but none work... current version of vuescan is 9.5.28 does anyone have a uhm... "working" serial they can share? I hate to get rid of a working...

Like what is the actual benefit of using linux over windows? Linux seems incredibly overly complicated for little reason
The point of gnu+linux isn't supposed to be easy to use and user-friendly. It's made to be extremely powerful and can be configured for specific things.
People with certain ideologies will also use it because muh evil gubment.
If you're a gaymer or someone who doesn't want to learn how to use a terminal, stay with wangblows or osx.

Can some /g/ wizard here explain to me why TORing traffic to buy drugs is necessary for evading authorities?
all it does is draw attention to these drug market sites and eventually they get shutdown. What is wrong with just sending encrypted messages on the clearnet to buy lsd or something?

KDE's Oxygen cursors are my favorite. Also ported to Windows.
Orange for contrast and visibility.
What programs do I need to learn to get hired as a web designer?
Web Designer is a shitty job.
The costumer hates everything you like
You hate everything the costumer likes
In the end you have to do what the costumer pays you for so you always design shit that you don't like.

trying to decide between a reference r9 290 for 340$ CAD or an XFX r9 380 for 280.
is the reference r9 290 going to run like shit? Apparently they're legendarily loud and hot. But it's only 60$ more than the 380, and it seems like a large performance boost
Reference 290 will run fine, it's the 290x that got too hot in the reference cooler.
290 will outperform the 380, same gpu as the 390.
Just overclock it or flash a custom bios.
Undervolt if you're not overclocking.
How is pic related? That's messed up.
I have a r9 290 reference and it's loud for sure, I've only have gotten it to 85C and its rated to sustain 95C. It idles at 42C.
You can't really OC the 290 ref card, but that isn't a concern for me. If I could do it over again I would have bought the Sapphire 290x. Depends on what your needs are though.
