Quick question /g/
Is anyone here running marshmallow and did Google fix the massive memory leak problem(s) from lollipop?
Glad to see everyone got the update.
I'm running it, have been for months.

24gb of 1600mhz, or 16gb of 1833mhz?
I'm buying 16 gigs of ram today. I already have 2 sticks of 4gb 1600mhz. So I would either be adding 2 8gb sticks, or replacing my two if I went 1833.
what for

Gotta go fast!
24GB, doesn't matter if you're actually using all of them or not, they're still a better option. Stop being retarded.
I'm thinking of switching to Linux, but first I want to know objectively what are the drawbacks of switching to Linux?
I'm sure there are many, for example lack of proper CAD and MS Office (no, LO is not as good)...

>less crashes

Hope you like command lines and manually editing system files. Oh and also endless googling to try and figure out why your wifi/trackpad/whatever doesn't work with the particular flavor of linux you're using on that particular combination of hardware.
If thats your thing, well knock yourself out!
>>51530337
What year are you from?
>>51528508
You should be fine OP, I tried out Ubuntu on my laptop recently and the installation experience was nicer than Windows, all the drivers installed right from the gate.
As for objective differences that's going to depend on what you intended to use on your computer; do you make use of office to any further level than a text editor? If not LO should work well for you, otherwise the high level features really won't...

Dude, really? Read /g/ for a while this place is full of threads asking why X doesnt work with linux distribution Y on hardware Z.
Any decent, cheap alternatives to iPods?

Tee hee. But seriously? I'd like a halfway-decent mp3 player.
who here has an older phone but still see no reason to upgrade at all ?
>note 2 here
it just TWERKS
>>51528470
Hardly an old phone is it
Old phone would be a Nokia 3310 or something
4s here, running ios7, recently replaced battery but was only 20$. Other than that its still mint looking and does what i want
Wouldn't really call it old, but Nexus 4 here.
I see no performance reasons to upgrade, but it has started rebooting randomly about once or twice a day.
>he still thinks closed-source means better security by default
Don't tell me there are people on /g/ like this.

Assuming you have low temps, what actually stops you from going even higher in clocks at a certain point?
What makes the chip stop working?
>>51528363
Your house burning down
>what actually stops you from going even higher in clocks at a certain point?
Diminishing returns.
>What makes the chip stop working?
Excessive voltage and heat degrades the lifespan of it and ultimately damages it.
System stability, power consumption, lowered component lifespan
How is that there aren't any GNU/Linux distro that mimics windows as there are some that mimics OSX?
>>51528351
Because window is already perfect.

Which phone? iPhone 6S, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5P, or LG G4. Each one is free.
6P
>>51528329
If they are really free, iPhone 6s no question asked.
If based on price, LG G4 hands down.
If you really think that the Nexus line is the best one for Android, you are a fucking delusional noob and you don't deserve to browse a tech board
>>51528617
I will, op. Thanks.
I'm a moron and my mother is even stupider
She has an android and wants a free app that she can download music for her to listen to while she exercises. I tried to get her to use Pandora but she didn't like that because she wants specific songs
Which do you suggest?

Why BSD and Linux communities dont get along?
People with differing opinions don't like to work together and open source encourages forking. FreeBSD and Linux devs collaborate on OpenZFS along with Illumos and OSX devs.
Windows/mac people always say Linux users are angry virgins. Well, BSD lusers are in that same ration, they are seen as losers by Linux.
-BSD distro leaders are generally turbo fedora cape wearers
-BSDrones bleat for *days* about how the GPL is a virus and evil yet sony and apple have stolen BSD numerous times without giving dick back
-All BSDlord "art" is the same edgefag pic of the daemon fucking tux
-BSD spent the first 20% of its life in courts during the most critical time in the 90s arguing about dumb unix related laws which is what allowed linux...

Apple Watch burns man's arm.
Jorgen Mouritzen noticed his arm was burning from an Apple Watch. He returned the watch to his dealer in Sweden, where Apple concluded the source of the burn came from external sources and not from the watch. At this moment Apple has no comment.

This is why you never buy this shit from people hanging around the street
>>51527963
it's probably a result of translation but dealer can also mean "returned to the store he bought it from"
>>51528001
Right this exactly. Can't wait for the damage control from Apple shills.
