Its 2015 why cant Linux or Windows get high resolution scaling right?
Is it hard to program for? because everything being tiny as fuck seems to be the norm for most programs
>>51552906
Use a less shitty OS, problem solved.
List of less shitty OS:
OS X
because everyone is still using 1366x768
>>51552952
osx has the same problems but no where near as bad.
you probably wont notice until you plug your macbook into a different sized monitor or resolution
Judge this, I'm a poorfag who doesn't play 2016 4k+ res AAAA games but enjoys his doter and his cs. Is it good for 60fps on medium? Is ppp a good aggregator of lowest prices?

nigga, remove that punk ass bitch GPU and buy some badass 2133mhz RAM instead
that APU is nice for high demanding games too
>>51552725
This, get two RAM modules at the highest speed you can afford. You need two for that sweet dual channel action or your APU is going to suck shit even if you crossfired it with that GPU.
>>51552686
What the fuck you doing, kohai?
What's your max budget? As in, "How much can you spend before rebates?"
someone keeps breaking into my shed and stealing tools, I'm by no mean a teach guru but far from an idiot. I though this was your standard RCA but it has this red pin in the video. What kind of extension cable do I need /g/ents?
>>51552683
That's probably for power. What's on the end of the cable?
Red and white are sound. Yellow is video. One with a pin is male end. Other two are female

Picked up the logitech 170+ for $64 on a black friday sale. Being my first mechanical keyboard typing feels odd.
Should I have going with the blue switches over brown, or do you get used to it?
gone*
>>51552602
you just get used too it, besides if you think the key press is too light i had reds and i couldn't adapt after a month so i went to blue's. i got the same keyboard for black Friday but my local best buy had it for $39.99USD i thought my local micro center would have had a better price but it was 44.99 there
I actually feel like they're too sticky.
Let's talk solar power...
I need a cheap reliable source of about 50 watts minimum at 12 volts at all times... I could possibly go down to 6 volts, but 50 watts is the minimum.
The reason for solar power is because government supplied electricity is unreliable in my country. You might randomly go 2 days without electricity just because the government says so.
My question is, considering this is meant to be over the course of 50 years or more, is it better to have a PV system (as they're known to decrease in efficiency over long periods of time before...

Solar isn't exactly reliable. I'd say get a gas generator, or put a car battery between the panel and whatever you're running on it.
>>51552848
Thanks,
Yeah the intention was to have it run off a battery at night and solar in the day. I essentially need 50 watts, but I'll cater for 80 to 90, just to be safe
if the intention is simply needing constantly power with unreliable mains, then you only need a battery backup (as simple as a mains batter charger + a battery with battery-powered devices and/or an inverter, basically, a UPS)
if the intention is not using mains at all, then combine that with solar panels (that is, use a solar charge controller in lieu of a mains battery charger)

You know the deal.
I need a new video card, I have no preference for features and stuff, $350 tops.
What do I buy?
nth for nothing I want is on sale
Still holding out for a good laptop that doesn't have Windows 10. Hopefully waiting doesn't fuck me over.
Quick question, which of the two portable HDD is the wiser choice?
In termes of longer life.(durability)
>seagote
>>51552302
WD and Seagate are both garbage. Buy an enclosure and stick a Toshiba in there.
Seagate is shit. WD is less shit. The WD is slower, but probably won't fail on you before the Seagate would.
why does /g/ hate optical media? I'm the only one hoarding shit to DVD-R?
why not just put your stuff in an external HDD
>>51552287
i don't exactly hate it, it just doesn't seem very useful for storage. not a lot of space, have to constantly swap discs, can't overwrite/delete etc.
the only thing i use CDs/DVDs for is loonix ISOs. they just werk, unlike USB shit.
*tips*
miniaturization is finally here, and it is beautiful

ITT comfy rooms with computers. BSTs are too edgy and I'm sick of Google telling to throw a laptop in my study. It's 2015 - study involves research which involves computers.

This is unfathomable types of comfy
does anyone here use any other keyboard layout besides the qwerty?
>>51551971
azerty here for physical keyboards, qwerty for touch keyboards.
For English? No.
For other languages? QWERTZ for German, ЙЦУКEH (JCUKEN) for Russian, Kana for Japanese (inb4 weeb) and Swedish and Finish layouts.
Physically, my keyboard is still QWERTY and 104-key.
>>51551971
I use Dvorak unironically
Why does any browser besides Safari kill this thing's battery so fast? I was running Chrome on it daily until recently; it only lasted 6-7 hours at best and that went to 3 hours streaming video. Firefox gives me similar results. Safari easily lasts me 9+ hours, even when streaming video.
Anyone else have experience with this? Is there a browser that works well Macbook Pros that isn't a total piece of garbage (safari)?
>>51551951
Because every browser in the exception of Safari is bad.
only apple gives a shit about optimizing apps for OSX. everyone else just does a half assed port for the sake of saying it's cross-platform.

If Thunderbolt and USB-C are so great, why not replace internal SATA express cables with them?
Why?
Good question. I too would like to know.
It would make sense but most company's are shit
