Hey guys, my friend wants to get a laptop to do a few basic things and run games at at least 30 fps. He has a price range of $200-400
Any suggestions?
bump cause i need something by jew-mas
>Laptop
>Running games
> $200-$400
Not gonna happen if you mean any modern games at all.
>>51656027
Not gonna happen
hey /g/. I hope this isn't considered personal tech support.
I got pic related on my hands and 3 of the orange GEIL DIMMs already installed on my computer.
How can I make this Corsair Dimm work along with the rest of my RAM?
I have done some googling, there seem to be a lot of things that need to be configured. is it even possible?
>>51655930
No idea, but I have new, fast Corsair RAM running alongside my years-old G.Skill 1600 MHz RAM.
They're all just running at the slower speed. Zero problems. RAM compatibility is entirely a case-by-case thing.
>>51655960
from what I've read, the mobo usually just clocks them all to run at the slower speed that all of the DIMMs can support.
However it seems to be a different case for the voltages. I dont know what needs to happen with those.
The motherboard should sort it out automatically. If not you'll just need to set the timings/voltage. Either way it won't hurt anything to try. Throw them in.
What makes Apple products so popular among militants and terrorists?
No wonder Assad won
>>51655868
>implying I couldn't make that app in an hour for ducking windows phone
>>51655913
But how are you going to sell Windows Phones to terrorists?
Why does /g/ hate Unity?
This is really comfy.
>>51655835
I don't, I just hate the crappy tablet I run it on.. It's great for touchscreen devices otherwise.
I'd post a screenie but that same crappy tablet just shat all over the filesystem and is due a reinstall..
>>51655835
too memory intensive for a work machine.
>>51655835
I think it's alright.
The 4chan homepage is redirecting my iPhone to advertisements.
Is it the hacker, guys?
proxy trojan. you is infected dude.
>>51656000
I was on 4g though.
>>51656000
Nice trips.
Why are high end Nvidia cards better than high end ATI cards?
Because games are made to take more advantage of high pixel fill rate and high clocks(Nvidia) than high bandwidth and high shader/texel rate(AMD)
Of course that depends on the game, but more games lean to the former.
Yes they're so much better that they don't even need that .5gb
>>51656014
Then why does every motherfucker on this board shit on Nvidia and recommend AMD shit?
Is there any proof to your claim?
what is your daily use app on android
Clover and telegram, but mostly clover.
Clover
Chromium
Spotify
In that order
Why you degenerates use Clover? This shit sucks.
My monitor is originally 1920x1080 resolution. I put together a new desktop and my max settings are 1600x1200. If I go 1920x1080, it scales outside my monitor. 1080p/1080i in the HDTV options does the same thing. What do?
If it helps, I'm using a R9 280X.
>>51655516
Did you use the monitor before and is it connected via HDMI?
>>51655820
Yeah, I used HDMI since none of my DVIs matched up with both of my computers.
>>51655839
both of them* sorry in a rush atm
I just installed Windows 10 and since I've been exclusively Linux user for past four years I'm bit out of loop. I need...
>video player (CCCP still way to go, yes?)
>pdf reader (Foxit still?)
>torrent client (µTorrent?)
>music player that resembles Rhythmbox
>application to read&write ext2/3/4 and btrfs partitions
Also, what benefits I get from creating and using Microsoft account on this?
>Media Player
VLC
>PDF Reader
Adobe Reader
>Torrent
utorrent
>video player (CCCP still way to go, yes?)
mpc-hc with madvr, potplayer with madvr or vlc
>pdf reader (Foxit still?)
adobe reader
>torrent client (µTorrent?)
qbittorrent or deluge (utorrent is full of ads by now)
>music player that resembles Rhythmbox
foobar2000 or musicbee
>application to read&write ext2/3/4 and btrfs partitions
not possible in windows as far as i know -> linux livecd
>>51652216
>>program doesn't exist in the repository
>>didn't need that anyway!
>>51655479
I can agree with the first two but utorrent is trash
Baby here about to start using linux, however i'm wondering If I should start off just using bash or should I switch to something right away like zsh or fish. I've heard they're much better/more powerful. Which shell do you use and why?
Bash is fine for 99% of people who don't have boners for shell scripting.
I use bash because using linux is hard enough.
Zsh&Prezto
Cause autocomplete and rice.
Just what the fuck am I supposed to use instead of it?
>Windows
If you have an Apple product, nothing. Or just use iTunes solely as a manager for your iDevice, use foobar2000 and customize it to your liking. It's nice because you can make it look however you like, install it as a portable program, use it to encode and tag your music, etc. (So instead of having different programs like dbPoweramp, mp3tag, accuraterip, etc. You just have one program. Less clutter.)
If you use a Windows 10 tablet, use Groove Music (official app, optimized for touch. Just make sure to disable "automatically retrieve album information" or else it may screw up your metadata).
>OS X
iTunes is actually good on OS X, why would you use anything else?
>Linux

How does it differ from the Windows version?
