Greetings, /g/entoomen. How does it feel desperately struggling over the last remaining scraps of IPv4 addresses while I, sitting here at MIT like a king, get as many public addresses as I please? What is it like making do with a single address for your entire network, while each one of my devices, from the lowliest of Raspberry Pis, gets its own? Tell me about "port forwarding"; I love hearing about the struggles of peasants such as yourselves.
my school doesnt nat their network either, so anything on it gets a public ip.
its not like this is anything to brag about, since you do not control the firewall
>>51707453
I can change my IP any time I want with my isp, how tech illiterate are you

Do you /g/uys mind in what Language was a program written?
Would you avoid using some specific program if it was written in some specific language?
Only if it's an extremely retarded language that nearly guarantees the program will hog resources or otherwise not function ideally.
Nah, nobody on /g/ has an opinion on programming languages.

How does he make a living?
>>51706352
he's a digital nomad, he doesn't need much. just wifi, some open source nutrients, and a fsf certified mattress.
In 2001 he has won 830k USD (takeda award).
In 1990 he received a grant of 240k USD.
Considering his ascetic lifestyle (old busted thinkpad, emacs and an internet connection) and the fact that FSF receives donations I wouldn't say it's hard to live off what he already has.
He travels a lot tho but I'm fairly sure someone covers those expenses for him.
People actually pay him good money to travel around and ramble about communist software.

How do I do this from a phone?

Is 8GB of ram sufficient these days?
My PC is using 75% of my ram and only thing i am using is Firefox
>>51705319
have you considered restarting firefox?
>>51705319
>8GB
No, if you're poor, 16Gb is enough, if you're not poor, 32 is comfy.
8GB is fine.
if i was building new i'd go for 16 or 32 just to make my dick feel better.

What's a good replacement distro /g/? I'm not using Arch, Pacman a shit.
>>51705132
Gentoo / Funtoo
>>51705132
ooboontoo is allright, use less res-hungry DE (xfce, lxde, lxqt, mate etc)
Install cpufrequd and cpufreq-utils to play with cpu frequency governors.
Also, there is a sqt for a good reason.
>>51705132
Debian Testing/Stable, with a light DE like LXDE or XFCE.
If you want, you can use a WM like Openbox or Windowmaker, too.
