>tfw you fell for the 1440p meme
I legitamtely feel bad for anyone who fell for the 4k or curved screen memes now.
Here's your reply.
A screen resolution higher than 1080p is usually preferred if you're working on video editing, since most of editors in the profession are going to be making videos in 1080p. This gives them not only a full-resolution preview screen of what their product is going to look like while editing, but also some extra space for using their preferred software's tools.
How come none of the other phone brands do gold phones, fingerprint unlocking or even just in general get serious about touchscreens/smartphones until apple started doing them?
Come to think of it they we had nothing but shit mp3 players and shitty PDA's before the iPod and iPad

What's a nice not-super-expensive pen I can get my mom for xmas?
Can AMD do anything right?
Asetek isn't a patent troll though. Before Asetek, liquid cooling existed, but nobody had marketed an all-in-one solution that could be widely marketable.
Asetek put down a lot of capital and research, back when no other company was willing to risk the potential dead end of trying to make an all-in-one liquid cooling kit, and they for the most part succeeded. They were able to refine their design in coming years and license it to OEMs.
After Corsair popularized it, everyone and their mother started using the same tried and proven design Asetek originally made, yet these guys didn't put ANY research/development into the idea, nor did they get licensed by Asetek.
The AMD Fury uses a modified CoolerMaster all-in-one CLC, and CoolerMaster isn't licensed by Asetek to use that design. By extension, AMD is infringing on Asetek's patent.
That being said, this is how patents are supposed to work. They still, to this day, continue to iterate their design and those improvements make their way to their OEMs.
A patent troll is a company that creates the most generic design possible for something mudane, such as a D-pad, repeatedly tries to patent it until they get it patented, (this is important!) they never actually commercialize a product based on the patent, then sit on the patent for years before trying to sue someone for infringing on the patent for X amount of years.
Asetek's not a patent troll, man. They got a patent fair and square and have been pretty good about licensing to OEMs for a small cut of sales. Everyone else getting in on the CLC business is cutting corners and trying to bypass Asetek's patent the cheap way.
AMD or NVIDIA
Are sound cards actually worth it or is fine just to rely upon motherboard sound?
Highly situational. The quality of the sound will not improve in any tangible sense, but some people need the overhead for technical reason.
Basically, if you don't know the reasons you would use what most would consider "overkill" quality and don't have a use for the extra jacks/features on the card, don't even bother.
6600K or 4790K?
My Nehalem motherboard died and I'm building a new system based on either processor, mainly for vidya of course.

Building new PC soon and wondering if it's as great as it seems to be

Anyone else here make the mistake of backing the Jolla Tablet indiegogo campaign?:
Jolla has now filed for bankruptcy and they are putting tablet shipments on indefinite hold..
Many angry customers commenting on their blog as well:

>This is basically proof that tablet was the last thing that you had on your mind. Why did you create Jolla tablet campaign, and instead created Sailfish OS campaign? So we can say for a reason that you’ve tricked us. You wasted all the money on development of newer version of Sailfish instead of delivering what we paid…
/g/, I'm boarding an 8 hour air trip and I wish to continue to shitpost up in the air, but it's going to cost $1 dollary-doo a MB.
Business class gets free wifi so far the only solution I've come up with is:
1. Attach to WiFi network.
2. Find IP for network router.
3. ping network router IP
4. arp -a to get list of other attached devices
5. Copy one of those MAC addresses and spoof it.
Any other suggestions?

the purpose of a hard drive is to store software and data because it will not all fit in RAM. hard drives transfer that data to RAM so it can be accessed and used. the faster this transfer can happen, the faster your computer will respond to your commands. if you can have a 5 times faster hard drive, why not?
