what happens when a handfull of transistors on a monster chip are defective? do they throw out the die, or is the hardware smart enough to work around the defects?
pic related: 8 billion transistor, 683 mm2
It's been touched by bare human hands...the ENTIRE thing is worthless
binning
>>51767531
they still use the die, they just don't use the dud core and sell it as a cheaper model
Guys, I'm a dumbass and put on my heatsink too tight and glue or wherever is leaking out. How screwed am I?
Does the computer still work?
Are the temperatures worse?
Is performance under load drastically different?
You might be fine, otherwise you'd need to delid, reapply TIM, and relid, which is either impossible or very difficult. so cross your fingers.

No clue, still need to get a GPU. The Q-code says 66, either it posted and is idling at 66, or my CPU has failed.

I think it's pretty nice though I don't know what it's from I usually like greyscale and similar, my shit used to all be carbon fiber and similar

>>51767471
>using ubuntu

I'm using the Royal theme.
Is Discord a botnet?
I've seen a few Teamspeak servers switching to it, and I can't find the catch.
Yet.
>100% free
>implying there isn't a catch
https://discordapp.com/
>>51767235
Neither discord nor teamspeak are free.
>>>/v/
The catch will probably be regular advertisement intervals once traffic grows enough.
>>51767235
they're going to analyze and sell your data, just like skype and every other "free" messaging service
R.I.P. Freedom
Guess we're all stuck in the Apple or Android botnet
>>51767179
>implying jewzilla wouldn't just send us to their botnet after the platform was gaining any traction
>>51767252
With Mozilla comstantly pushing freedom, I'd doubt that would ever happen
Did literally anyone buy these things?
Should I do it, /g/entoo-men?
no if you care about privacy but if not yes windows 8 is shit
Don't bother, even if you don't care about privacy Windows 10 is a pile of garbage.
Install gentoo
Chrome and Firefox all but dead and finished now

Nice

I take it back. What the fuck OP, they're open sourcing the JavaScript engine not the browser.
If I don't care about apps (seriously only have youtube and pandora), and just want good battery life with decent web browsing are Windows phones legitimate? Seems like there are some with very solid specs for under $200 with excellent battery life.
If not, does /g/ have any other recommendations?
I had a Nokia Lumia 630 that fuckin rocked, it was great. Browser was fast, battery life was decent, and i never had issues with lag or freezes on it.
>>51766952
I have a 635 and it's great.
>>51766980
Nice, worth the switch from a crappy android phone? Mine currently will last about 2 hours with moderate browsing before it needs to be charged.
Elitebooks are better than Thinkpads.
We've had this debate a thousand times before, /g/ collectively decided:
>Thinkpads are good overall
>Elitebooks are good if you have more money to spend
>Office laptops like dell Inspirons and Latitudes are good windows alternatives to thinkpads
>Acer chromebooks make good linux machines
>Macbooks are great if you have the money
None are objectively better or worse than eachother, get your superiority...

Elitebooks are less expensive. The 2560p, equivalent to the X220, goes for $150 all day long Buy It Now on ebay with no problems and a good battery, while the X220 goes for at least $200 without having problems.

Need help on how to break a computer that it is beyond repair whilst making it look like an accident. Something more permanent than deleting system 32, since windows can restore that. I need it to be incredibly frustrating, suicidal even. This purely educational of course :)

americlap? water in the psu

Figure it out on your own for maximum education

Kill yourself of course :)
guys, meme magic is getting far to strong.
we need to shut down 4chan, and maybe even the whole internet before memes become too real.
>Australian shitposter, makes an elaborate ruse that he's the creator of bitcoin
>Australian police raid his house
http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/dec/09/bitcoin-founder-craig-wrights-home-raided-by-australian-police?CMP=twt_gu
Why the fuck are the police raiding his place anyway? Is cryptocurrency illegal in the prison colony?
why don't we just get off the http part of the internet?
I assign 10.0.0.1 with mask 255.0.0.0 on an Ethernet port on my router, and 192.168.221.14 with mask 255.255.255.0 on a second port. Could this work? My two answers, not sure if this is a trick question:
Yes. The broadcast domains don't overlap.
OR
No, because the masks don't match
Should work fine. However, having such a large subnet is retarded.
>>51766622
>Could this work?
maybe, what the fuck are you actually trying to accomplish?
raw literal answer: if your router supports VLANs, yes
This I would imagine would work if as long as a routing protocol was set to allow access
