is this really how TOR Project plans to stay alive? You would think they would've secured some other types of funding before cutting their previous funder.
>>51914109
Don't worry, all the druglords, rapists and terrorist organizations that rely on Tor will always donate enough to keep the service running.

Hehehe we have nothing to hide!
>quoting a womyn who looks like a feminist
now i wouldn't even donate if i had the money
So /g/ my new job is offering to buy me a new laptop for web/android development. They told me I had to choose between either a Google Pixel 2 LS or a MacBook Pro 13 with similar specs.
Specs:
i7 intel
16g ram
64/128g ssd
No dedicate gpu
So, which would you choose and why? I'm leaning toward google pixel. Remember, either one would be free.
Pic unrelated.
You can probably do way more with the iMac, even though I really love the hardware of the pixel 2. It's literally like perfect for me. That's what I would make if I could. Can the pixel running chrome os give you the tools to develop? If so, go for it, if not, don't.
>>51913939
pixel and slap linux on it or something
>>51914061
This, probably. I don't know how much stuff chromeos can actually run.
If they're even in specs, personally I would choose pixel with linux, but it's really your personal preference.
hey bros, I've just downloaded VirtualBox and started using Ubuntu 14.04. I've tried downloading some packages through the command line but the they wont download because there isn't sufficient space but I've set the size initially to 8gb and only 3.60gb has actually been used and its set to dynamically allocated storage. so can any of you guys tell me what do i do. I've tried Googling it but they're all irrelevant.

Hi /g/, could you please help me solve the following PHP/SQL problem?
I'm trying to match an array of integers with integers from an SQL database and echo them when they match.
I'm only posting the relevant stuff.<?php
session start();
include_once("php/connect.php");
?>
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<table>
<thead>
<tr>
<th>Cart ID</th>
<th>User ID</th>
<th>User Name</th>
</tr>
<thead>
<tbody>
<?php
$cartSelect = "SELECT cart_id, cart_user_id FROM carts ORDER BY cart_id ASC";
$cartQuery = mysqli_query($connect, $cartSelect);
if($cartQuery) {
while($cartRow = $cartQuery -> fetch_object())
{
echo '<tr>';
echo '<td>'.$cartRow -> cart_id.'</td>';
echo '<td>'.$cartRow -> cart_user_id.'</td>';
$userSelect = "SELECT user_name FROM users WHILE '$cartRow -> cart_user_id' = user_id"; (<- XYZ)
$userQuery = mysqli_query($connect, $userSelect);
if($userQuery) {
while($userRow = $userQuery -> fetch_object())
{
echo '<td>'.$userRow -> user_name.'</td>';
}
}
echo '</tr>';
}
}
?>
</tbody>
</table>
</html>
However, when I do this I get the following error:Catchable fatal error: Object of class stdClass could not be converted to string in /srv/http/project/page.php on line XYZ
Obviously I am very much a beginner and I could use some help.
try this$userSelect = "SELECT user_name FROM users WHERE user_id = " . $cartRow->cart_user_id;
Also whoever told you to add a blankspace between the object operator is not your friend.

Oh wow, it works!
Thank you so much, I've been fucking around with this for ages now. Tried many different ways to do it at first and finally settled on what I first thought was logical yet it just didn't work because of this damn error.
Thank you so so much Anon, have a piglet.

The fuck is going on here? AMD stock getting bigger while other tech companies are receding?? Anyone ever seen anything like this before?
I blame the jews
I'd imagine it's due to console sales this close to Christmas

So what's the best way to hook up a hard drive to a raspberry pi, /g/?
I heard that externals have high failure rates so I was looking into getting a "normal" HDD and hook it up with a converter, however I'd need:
* A powered USB hub (expensive!)
* A SATA to USB converter
as well as the HDD itself.
Should I do that and hook up a WD Red 3TB to my raspi or should I just get an external? Also what external is best with 3TB or 4TB of storage for ~$110? Transfer rates are not that important because it'll be bottlenecked by the raspi's...

wat
>>51913602
What do you not understand about that?
I mean I haven't confirmed that externals have higher failure rates, I've just been told that they're crappier drives and reviews also seem to indicate they're shitty. Is this wrong?
>>51913668
I wouldn't worry too much. I have an internal in a separate inclosure hooked up to my pi, but if you don't want to go through the hassle just get an external and make backups every so often if its important.
which should I choose? Blackwidow Ultimate 2016 or Blackwidow Ultimate 2016 Stealth?
And why?
Neither. Go play your gaymes in africa where you belong you nigger
You should grow up instead

Shouldn't the /dpt/ be renamed to something like "The 8-hour programming thread", or "The thrice-daily programming thread"?

I'm holding out, still using drivers from a few months ago on my 290x.
It just werks for me.

by posting on /g/ of course. don't forget to incognito :)
After browsing /g/ for some months, I seem to have joined the tinfoil hat Club. I have the urge to stop sucking Googles dick and dont really want to use Android anymore.
The most useful alternative seems to be Ubuntu Phone.
Is it actually worth installing?
Any other mobile OSs that you have experience with and are worth a recommendation?
Ubuntu mobile is shit, if you want a phone without botnet your only choice would be a port of Android without Google apps

They put spyware on Unity. How would you trust them?
I seriously like to have Jolla, but apparently they are dying.

>tldr: why should a programmer learn Lisp?
Full story: I have a TA job at my university, so I have a lot of contact with first-years. In a conversation one of the students I tutor complained about having to learn Scheme in his Programming 101 class, whining about how it's academic masturbation and how the professor won't teach a relevant language. I wanted to reply to him, to motivate him by listing a few interesting perks or some real world applications, but aside from reading the first 200 or so pages of SICP I've never worked...

So from the lack of responses I gather that Lisp is, indeed, a meme language and nobody gives a fuck about it. Oh well. Good thing I don't have to learn it then, sucks for the first-years.
All the Lisp Programers went to Lainchan.
But yeah Lisp is a prety neat Programing language.
