Hey, I am looking for a new graphics card under $250, and I have an i5-6500 and 16gb of ram, which one should I get?
>>55424195
8gb rx 480
>>55424195
nitro rx 480 or gtx 1060
>>55424195
rx 480 if you want something now. it might be worth waiting to see how the gtx 1060 does
If RMS is all about freedom, why does he support Bernie Sanders?
>>55424185
Free as in free stuff.
Sanders doesn't support the TPP or excessive government surveillance.
People only care about freedoms they use and want to eliminate the rights they don't care about

>Oracle employees that worked on Java EE have told others in the community that they have been ordered to work on other things.
How will Java code monkeys working at banks and governments earn their paychecks if Java EE, the productivity black hole that makes everything 10 times slower to develop, is kill?
>>55424163
inb4 everyone switches to openJDK and they actually make it work propper.
>>55424163
>openJDK
Java EE is not the same thing as JDK.
It's a misleading name for "Enterprise" server shit and standards that are built on top of Java.
>>55424163
So everything turned out for the best. Java was dead whatever the verdict.
Hey /g/, I recently purchased an MSI laptop (I travel alot for work so I just said fuck it and bought one). Here is the model/specs:
MSI GS Series GS60 Ghost Pro 4K-238 Gaming Laptop6th Gen Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.6 GHz 16g Memory 1TB HDD 256G SSD GTX 970M 6G GDDR5
The problem right now is it only has good wireless signal when it is in the same room as the router. Even just walking 10 feet away to the kitchen (where other devices are still good) brings it from 5 bars to 1.
I was wondering if any of you all would know if it's my laptop that is the...

Why wont Intel step up their game in the gpu market? There's only two other competitors.
>>55423903
They'd rather slowly eat Nvidia and AMD's lunch from the bottom up than try an all-out assault.
>>55423903
Because there's no real money to be made in doing so. Intel are doing their best to move away from the desktop PC market and put their eggs in other baskets.
>>55423969
Well whatever they're doing in other markets, it fucking sucks
I just inherited one of these babies.
It has a whole 4.5 GB of RAM and came with the beautiful 20" Cinema display. I restored OS X Leopard on it and it's total crap.
Thinking of trying out
http://lubuntu.net/ for PPC instead.
Your thoughts /g/?
OpenBSD/macppc is quite nice and well supported. MorphOS if you want to try something different. But of course you should just install gentoo ppc.
>PowerPC
>PPPC
>>55423850
You could always rice Xubuntu to look like OS X, that's what I did one time when I was bored
How worried are you about this spy?
>>55423804
No, Bill Gates builds loos for the poos, he is a good guy, he would never sell my data.
its a bit weird how people are that much more concerned about windows 10 when almost all the spying has already been done by just using google, facebook & co.
Not at all
When will GTX 1080's be in stock?

Never

Bought new computer, installed win7, everything was ok for a couple of days. Until one day after I restarted it, it didn't boot up. I got BSOD "unmountable_boot_volume" right after startup screen.
Formatted and installed linux mint. EWverything was ok for a couple of weeks. One day file system became "read only" - I couldn't download or modify files, and it couldn't open external drives. After restart it worked for maybe 10min until became read only gain.
What is the problem, is my HDD failing?
Pls help, I don't know where else to ask questions like this.
Can I install windows on external hdd or sd?
If HDD is failing, how come OS is working alright for a couple of days or weeks?
It's an HP computer, isn't it?
They are horrible about hard drive failures.
>>55423684
Blue screens can be caused by various things. Chances are your drives fine.
Guys I need your help, I was fucking stupid enough to buy a second hand GPU online only to find out a shit ton of problems with the goddamn thing.
I bought it for my older system with the MB only accepting PCiEv1.1, anyways it's a Dell HD7700, I've been getting shit frames on games, no matter the settings. Like in CS:GO, whether it be Low or Ultra I'm getting fluctuating FPS from 45-80. What the fuck, it has the latest software and pretty sure it's not bottling it, did I get fucked /g/?
Amd driver overhead + dinosaur cpu = 0 fps
>>55423561
>>55423733
are you retarded? i have shittons of fps on my 7850 in csgo newest drivers
Also dell = cheapest piece of shit you can buy that's why your are fucked and gpu doesn't work like it should be.
Build new pc by yourself not fucking dogshit assholes like Dell. You lazy ass fucker.
>>55423733
This.
If your pcie slot is only 1.1 then your cpu will heavily bottleneck any AMD gpu
Anyone interested in updating the outdated /g/ wiki? I've already began editing some on the Android pages, where I have some experience.
>>55423357
What pages need to be updated or need more content?
I was generally speaking, but.. the android pages are among the ones needing an update.
For example, there is an app suggestion image that's from 2012/2013, and is not very relevant today.
Also, the guys over at /csg/ should probably create and maintain their own page, as well.
>>55423477
Cool. A page on netsec got made yesterday. It also needs work.

Noone it's a third world country, completely stupid, you're exposing all the holes for potential hackers to come in. Bravo bulgarian.
Random agent spoofer or Secret Agent?
Secret agent
neither; just set it to the most used one
>>55423548
>the most used one
That's fucking dumb. According to https://techblog.willshouse.com/2012/01/03/most-common-user-agents/ the most common user agent makes up only 5.3% of all UAs. Why bother spoofing at all?
OK, I'll make this quick. I'm an idiot and dropped my OnePlus One. Screen is broken and is completely black. My computer recognizes it, but you have to change it from charging to data transfer in the menu in order to transfer data via USB. USB debugging is also not enabled, which has prevented any of the recovery tools I've tried from working.
Is there any way that I can recover the photos and data from the device? Tried looking, but can't seem to find a solution that works.
Can it output HDMI through USB? I'd look at that. If it can, attach a mouse (I suppose it supports OTG) and do you stuff.

Idea I would have is plug a USB keyboard and mouse and look up the right hotkeys to get to settings and enable dev mode - you might just need to unlock the phone to do a USB disk mount.
I do this all the time when my laptop undock script fails and my screen is black.
as a birthday present my father bought me a bought winrar version
