A pair of security researchers from the
Get linux you said. Linux is hurr durr secure you said.
University of Valencia have uncovered a bizarre bug in several distributions of Linux that could allow anyone to bypass any kind of authentication during boot-up just by pressing backspace key 28 times.
http://thehackernews.com/2015/12/hack-linux-grub-password.html?utm_source=THNPS&utm_medium=sidebarPS&utm_campaign=PS
So a bug was found and subsequently patched. Problem solved.
How many threads do we need to have on something that has already been patched and honestly is a non-issue anyway?

You're a fucking retard, OP.
Which Antivirus for Windows 7 to use? I have been using Avast for years now and it started to be really annoying with all of the pop ups for upgrade and buying premium package. There are also classic spam messages like "24 useless program to deactivated, click here to upgrade"
Does decent free antivirus for windows exist or it's only worth buying a paid license if you want proper protection?
Turn on silent mode retard.

So /g/, I know you are not my personal tech support team, but I need to know what is wrong with this Laptop HDD. It won't boot anymore, so I plugged it in to my PC and whenever the signal cable is connected to the motherboard, my computer won't get past POST screen. However, I can hear it spinning up for a few seconds, and it does pick up some speed, but after a few moments it just stops.
I inspected closely and found these marks on the PCB. Is it rust? Burn marks? Can any of you tell me what they are? I guess it makes no difference to know but I;m curious as...

BTW i tried scratching some of it off, you can see the scrape marks in the OP pic
>>51937292
Corrosion maybe from certain types of moisture. I can see it has eaten through the PCB vias so you might need a new board.
Can you remove it and take some photos of the underside where the components are?
MOZILLA IS FORCING YOU TO USE ONLY ONE PROFILE NOW!
FUCK OFF MOZILLA
FUCKING SJWS RUINING EVERYTHING

Build your own fucking keyboard. Don't pay for this garbage.

i'm not the OP, but do you have any good resources for building a 108 key keyboard? like links to quality PCB boards, guides, etc
How do computers restart?
If they turn themselves off then what turns them on again?
serious question
>>51937062
The secret is that they don't actually turn off.
>>51937074
/thread
>>51937062
the don't turn completely off, they just return to the BIOS initialization and run the bootloader again.

Dear /g/. my nephew has started doing some simple python and I would like to buy him a book on python for Christmas, could you recommend a good one? He is nine
thanks
>>51937046
Get him something on Python and Flask.
It's a web microframework and that is extremely fucking simple. It can be used to make really powerful web apps and it just works.
I use it professionally and make six figures. If your kiddo can do it, he's got a rad future.
>>51937046
Forget a book. Come up with something for him to make and then point him at a search engine and Python's documentation.
>>51937082
he's only nine, I don't want to overface him
looking for a book aimed at kids
>>51937121
something like what?
I could just give him some money I suppose, but I want to give him something tangible, and useful

Live USB or VirtualMachine and no that isn't how it works. Are you just bating?
>>51936919
Why win10 ? it has that kind of features?
Macbook Pro user. Got it for uni (film and tv) and I really like it. Saved up ÂŁ600 to beef it up. Recommendations?
I dont have an iPhone or iPad so nothing that includes them please.
Willing to take stick for being a mac user for aome genuine advice.
>>51936851
>mac
>not apple
>>51936851
There isn't much that you can do. Get an SSD if you don't have one yet, and upgrade the ram if you think you need it.
>>51936851
Beefing up a mac is a pain in the ass and even professionals often damage the hardware beyond repair when attempting it. You might be able to add some extra ram possibly. Other than that you will likely break it. It's not very upgradeable, it's a mac. If you want a beefier machine then you are supposed to buy a new machine, that's the idea. Anyone working for Apple would probably also say the same thing, even apple "geniuses" won't help you with Beefing up the machine

How is the linux example good if all distros save for a few enterprise ones gratis?
People use the most popular ones because large userbase = large community of package maintainers and greater chance you'll get an answer on tech support forums.
>godaddy
kek. A general rule is never buy any service or product advertised on tv. If they have the profit margins to do that, do you think it's because they're giving you a good deal?
Here's the source code you've been asking for so much: https://vivaldi.com/source/ . Feel free to inspect line by line.
And here's where you can get the Beta 2, now with complete features, such as an extension manager (all popular extensions like uBlock Origin and Lastpass are working already): https://vivaldi.com/
finally, vivaldi is a nice browser that just needed features.
Firefox is now BTFO
its so resource heavy browser..
