I'm trying to downsize my system partition but some files are trolling me. I've tried defragmenting with Auslogics Disk Defrag, Defraggler and UltraDefrag, but to no avail.
WTF can I do?
>>51986948
XDDDD
What program have you tried to use to resize the partition?

Hi,
I work for an IT company as a general support monkey. We're basically a Microsoft company, only some of the core services run on Linux boxes that typically we don't manage.
Myself I don't lobby for one OS or another. I like to suggest, different OS's suit different purposes, and sometimes simply different tastes.
I have experience with Windows and OS X (which I do like a lot.) But none really with Linux, that is to say, I've used it but not for longer than an hour at a time and never as a main OS.
I want to have a good...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Would also like to hear from anyone else on /g/ who works as a general tech support for SME's etc. Which distro do you often come across in the industry?
I know a lot of /g/ is CS based but I'm not really at that level (although I find it interesting.)
>>51986391
>I want to actually learn a Linux distro. What one would you recommend?
the only distros that matter in the real world are rhel/centos and debian
>>51986391
Start with Mint or Ubuntu.
You can still go "hardcore command line haxx0r" but you can also enjoy a good GUI.
Linux is a lot "learning by doing".
Battle station thread. Also, the struggle is fucking real.

The TV on top swivels and tilts so I can point it at my bed when I'm not at the computer. It, for the most part only gets used for movies or sometimes emulators when people come over. I moved my whole desk over a bit and didn't want to add new holes to my apartment wall, that's why it's in a bit of an awkward spot in the middle

Hi /g/,
Is bitcoin dead ?
Is there any point in investing huge money on mining hardware at this time ?
A friend of my boss apparently bought some mining hardware for $25k but he knows nothing about computers, so they're asking for my help. What's the current state, is it worth it for a normal pay? Will the man get rich?
considerate bump
saged, but you won't make your money back now with btc
that ship sailed years ago
>>51986114
I didn't spend any money. If anything, I will get some money anyway. Someone else bought the rig without knowing much about computers.
So I'm just going to set up the mining for him and maybe maintain it. I should get some low-wage for ~1hrs of work a day
Does Arch Linux respect my privacy?
>>51985527
No, it hangs out in the dark corner of your room, smoking a cigarette, watching,as you touch yourself.
>>51985608
Fuck
It doesn't respect your free time.

Since I didn't even know about Fi until I heard about it from my mother (nerd card revoked), I wonder if anyone here has any more information on it.
My biggest question is how long until other manufacturers come out with phones that support the dual-network? I really want to get on Fi, but I don't want to buy a phone without an SD card.
Any rumors? Are other manufacturers going to bother? Is it actually functionality already supported by most modern phones?
Fi is awesome in my area. My coverage is even better than Verizon in most places. Device support is probably only going to be Nexus at least until Fi is out of beta. What are you storing on your phone that you need a card for?
>>51985423
>What are you storing on your phone that you need a card for?
Music and podcasts, mostly. I've had a Nexus 4 for years and I'm constantly bumping up against the storage limit. I don't stream because the places I spend most of my time (bedroom, garage, gym) have poor signal.
I think the two new ones have 128gb options.
>Plastic phone casings handle drops better than aluminum.
>Manufacturers convince everyone that aluminum is more "premium" because it's metal.
>Can't buy phones without aluminum backs anymore.
Fuck you, Apple/Samsung/HTC/Moto
yeah it sucks ass, i dont even have an iphone but i still have a glass back, which is fucking stupid.
Aluminium
>>51984805
Nope. Aluminum is the older word, look up the etymology. You can't expect us to go along with all your changes just because. Language doesn't work that way.
> retail price: $999.00
> Chromebook with extra RAM
Is this the biggest ripoff of all time?
chromebook pixels have a nice screen and thats about it
they're just not worth the money
Just order a 200$ refurbished Toshiba Chromebook 2 with 4gb RAM and 1080 screen. Why would you ever pay more for a chromebook? What else could you want to do with it
>>51984786
It can into loonix and expansion, right?
What are essential Firefox add-ons? Do you use any extension to browse 4chan?
>>51984705
I stopped using site specific add-ons. If a site is not good enough for me to use, I don't use it.
>>51984753
>wah wah wah i don't use it, now bent to my will
i use greasemonkey with 4chan x to mainly hover the catalog images and some extra features

How do companies like OutletPC or Newegg even stay in business when Amazon offers better prices and better service?
I've been looking through all of them for a cheaper price, even when I found something that had a better price on OutlerPC, Amazon beat it by offering free shipping. Just out of curiosity, does anyone use online tech stores besides Amazon, why?
>>51984650
Tax
>>51984669
Tax free with Amazon over here.
Does Amazon really offer better products and a larger variety PC hardware/software wise?
I bought from Newegg when I first got into computers and stopped because I live next to a Microcenter but I never thought of Amazon as a place for a good selection of PC hardware.
I order from Amazon all the time now but not PC stuff.
