Can i change my resolution somehow? Like when i have broken display on one place, making the display fit in the non broken part of the monitor u feel me
>>52039775
This is the monitor, purple is broken part, and the white with that black is the part of the monitor i want to have the screen in
>>52039775
are you high?
>>52039775
See if the monitor's built-in settings has an option for 1:1 pixel mapping or scaling when you choose a lower resolution.
Failing that, see if your graphics driver settings has an option for 1:1 pixel mapping or scaling when you choose a lower resolution.

Pretty sure it's Yahoo who pays them these days
The trackpad is a useless piece of technology. A serious laptop should not have one, and instead should be like pic related. I just want an X200 but with a higher resolution screen and new internals for improved performance and battery life.
Is there any way to seriously upgrade a X200?
>>52039731
>I don't like it so nobody else should have it
cry me a river, bitch
Just disable the trackpad then.
I need a Windows laptop that actually looks nice.
Do you happen to know any?
>no thinkpads
>no 11"
>has to have a nice screen
>doesn't need to be powerful
Any asuspro laptop. I have the pu301la, its a great 13' laptop, not too expensive, not too powerfull.
>>52039624
HP elitebooks.
Literally an 8460p is dirt cheap, and a great alternative to a thinkpad with a macbook feel.
Only thing wrong is screen colors are shit, otherwise great laptop
>>52039624

ASUS UX305
Hey /g/, I don't really come on 4chan much anymore but I was thinking about buying a pre-owned computer this year for the holidays and I was hoping you guys could tell me if this is a good deal? I don't know a whole lot about hardware so excuse my peasantry.
TLDR: Is this computer with the following specs worth $700?
i3 3.4ghz
8gb Kingston Hyper X
XFX Black edition Radeon 7870 2gb DDR5
250gig SSD
3tb Toshiba HDD
ASUS micro-atx Motherboard.

No. I just built an i5 4690k/R9 380 itx pc for around $550. That's a terrible deal for three year old components.
This is the only good contemporary trackpad in existence. Everything else is horrible dogshit by comparison.
>dat big, smooth glass surface
>dat natural scrolling acceleration and deceleration
>dat pinch to zoom
>doesn't accidentally register every accidental brush of the hand as a dragging action when Tap to Click is enabled
>being able to click anywhere with the newer MBP models
No one else is even trying. Why?
patents. We have to wait 25 years.

My 7 year old ASUS scrolls just fine. What are you on about, OP?
It's fucking shit if you actaully have to use it for more than browing facebook in starbucks. End yourself.

Made a python script (just a prototype, might port it to a faster language) that converts any filetype to PNG.
Now you can share whole floppy disks worth of files through this image board.
This image is an exe that plays silent night
(also, has this been done before?)

I saw some small speaker in a shop today and I am about to get tempted.
The item I saw was a "Bose Companion 2 Series III".
I'm not an audiophile or anything, I just want a clear sound that I can get by plugging some small speakers into the jack of my laptop.
I don't need a bunch of setup I don't know what to do with.
Now, I am conscious that if I get these Bose, I am paying for the brand. So, I am hereby asking /g/ what can be the alternative of this specific speaker.
Please, not something too dank since I'd like to be able...

Nothing compares to the crisp highs, the thoughtful mids and the penitent lows of Bose, anon. You get what you pay for.
When you buy them, pick up a set of cable pebbles while you're there, they really help to define the soundspace. Not even fucking right now, get them.
>>52039466
garbage.
buy a proper preamp amp and bookshelf speakers.
Don't fall for the bose is marketing meme.
They're one of the best non-audiopaedo brands.
Just got a gtx 980 I plug it in to my computer and it turns on fr a second and then it quickly shuts off. Computer won't turn back on even with the old card. What do I do!
Not enough power.

You forgot how to internet search?
Are you retarded?
Do you think we are fucking help desk.
Fuck you cunts.
You're screwed, OP. Sounds like you blew your motherboard. You should buy more RAM and try again.
I just bought and assembled my new new pc, and because i just used all my money building it, i have none left for OS (stupid, I know). Wondering what linux distros you nerds recommend for someone whose only used windows their whole life and is mostly using it for gaming. I want something where I can just start it up, go on steam, and play my games. Thanks in advance.
Mint
Mint, download steam from the repository (kind of like an app-store, or download from the steam website) and there are many games there. But You might want to get windows eventually to run the rest of your games.
Look at different screenshots and take one you think look best. Ubuntu is also great ones to start with. There are different versions. Mint comes in Cinnamon and MATE and ubuntu comes with unity, xfce (xubuntu), kde (kubuntu), gnome 3 (ubuntu gnome, which I use) and some more. the different versions does a couple of different things, but mainly how your OS looks...

remember if you ever install windows, take backup of everything, because windows is completely stupid and will delete everything on your disk if you install. But after installing windows you can install linux again and dual boot. (choose either linux or windows when you boot your computer)
should i buy this computer?
i'm getting laid off in the winter, and looking to play all the games on steam, just wondering if this can do the job.
thank you and happy holidays

I have some pirated software that keep shutting off. What is happening?
I run the software and after using it for a few clicks, I get a message saying "unexpectedly shut off. I tried using it without being connected to the internet, but it still does this. What could be happening? This hasn't happened before.
Hello, I'd be glad to help you resolve your problem today sir, can you tell me what pirated software it is that's giving you a hard time? and when did you install this fucking shit?
