Windows phone fag here. Parent's gave me money to get the new Microsoft Lumia 950 phone at AT&T. I'm using an HTC One M8 Windows version however and was wondering if it's worth the upgrade to really switch over to this phone. Thanks /g/

Windows 10 when.
Normalfag web browsing machine. Is the HP stream 11 the only good choice?
HP Stream. Not enough RAM. Storage is not upgradable. CPU an Atom based Celeron....
I almost think the old HP DM1s mite of been better than the new stuff. :( 2015 was a bad year for cheap but good laptops.
>>52061271
Get a used business laptop
>>52061271
Early Broadwell Atom laptops are bad. They are locked to a 32-bit OS and it's really difficult to install Linux on them, though Windows runs fine for web browsing.
I'd suggest looking at later 64-bit Broadwell Atom laptops if you want a newer one with good battery life, otherwise you could buy a used Thinkpad which could handle web browsing and much much more.
How long do you think it'll take for 3d printing to get good/cheap enough for people to print high quality figures?
Do you think the figure industry will die soon as a result, or will people still pay the money just for the coloring job?
>>52061189
It's already good enough. In another 5 to 100 years it will be "cheap enough"

Are 144hz monitors worth getting if you can't actually run most games at 144 FPS?
>>52060520
No, not at all.
>>52060520
Nope
120-144hz is the golden standard for a reason

I got a $200 amazon gift card from my grandparents, considering buying an Echo since I've heard good things and the only other things I'd probably buy on amazon is books or anime blurays. Anyone here have one/used one? How is it? What do you most commonly use it for?
What is a good keyboard for android that comes with emoticons? My cousin is looking me with that face and i cant say no to her.
Yet the 2 i have downloaded come with ads which are annoying.
why is it over max
HALP /g/ Is It time to switch to ATI ?
store near me has a Gtx960 2gb for $210 and it also has a R9 380 4BG for $260
is the R9 performance worth the extra cost and also are ATI drivers good now ? I seem remember Nvidia always had better drivers
And would 4BG of video ram make that much difference on a 42inch TV than 2GB
also I have a 500Watt power suppy is it enough for the R9? would it take more power than my gtx760
>>52059213
i would get the r9380
its a no brainer
960 2gb
I use an R9 380 and it's not bad at all.
Unless you are doing video editing, you don't need a ssd which dies in half a year.
>Fslling for the SSD meme
Go back to school you illiterate fuck, if you can't spell, you sure as hell can't fucking comprehend the difference between a HDD and SSD.
>>52059169
hey that's some nice bait you got here

Why would you buy an SSD which dies in half a year when you could get actually good ones which don't
What are pros and cons of certain file system for the casual user (which is 'best' for holding lots of small files, few huge ones, general use etc.). The default lunix ext4 happens to be the fastest in benchmark, some claim XFS is superior to ext4 and btrfs is 'the future'.
Can we break it down?
>>52057740
For the average user:
Fat32
pros - multiplatform
cons - max file size is 4GB
Everything else
pros - none
cons - none
ntfs.

Which Python GUI is best and easier for beginner to learn?
ipython... Not a real GUI, but what do you expect?
If you want to write a python file use a text editor.
Tkinter is pretty big, no?

kek
one of the worst thing about python is it doesn't have a solid gui framework
Do you think social media makes people unhappy?
>>52055943
Yes.
Everyone tells me they are unhappy being on there "but it's what you have to do in 2015"
Except not really.
>>52055943
Probably Facebook, seeing as how most people post only their highlights, giving the impression their life is literally 24/7 perfect and shit.
>>52055943
Yes. It's all so much stupid bullshit.

Intended for users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are three ways to try Linux, you can:
1) Install a Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
2) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full Linux experience".
3) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with Linux (not recommended)
If you are serious about switching to Linux and if you have Windows dual-booted...

Jesus christ, someone actually wasted all that time making an infographic to install something that has idiot-proof step by step instructions.
now that this hellish consumerist nightmare is officially over
who wants to dedicate themselves to a holy cause for the coming year?
the challenge is: don't buy any new tech for the entirety of 2016.
>that's impossible!
no it's not. this is the year we learn how to repair. how to make due. how to compromise. how to find new ways to do things.
anyone else man or woman enough to take da pledge?
Meh, not impossible for me. I won't have a source of income for at least the beginning of next year and my rig is already pretty nice.
I imagine I'll still buy little things. Recently bought a USB switch to ease switching peripherals between VMs.

This is like trying to plant a tree to save the environment.
No matter how much you try.
100 logging companies will cut down more trees in 1 seconds than you can replant in your entire life.
Just do your own thing.

it's not about beating the big bad corporations
it's about hopefully changing your mindset towards what is 'needed' and removing yourself from the world of purchasing first, asking questions later

Have i5 2320 and works fine.
Looking to upgrade the cpu, have seen there wasn't much improvement between Devils canyon and Skylake.
Stick with tried and true models, go with Skylake, or wait for Tock series Skylake to come out?
Also have read up on both but still seem to see much difference between other than speed and size, is one better for gaming with the other not?
Anyone with technical understanding able to explain to an enthusiast the difference.

Holy fuck, I'm so glad I have a windows phone. I just tried to help my Mum block a number on her phone, turns out this isn't a fucking basic feature of Android.
What the fuck is this shit? It's been a basic feature of fucking every mobile since 2002 or some shit. I was coming round to the idea of getting a phone on Android, but having to get a third party app for what should be a core feature, that apparently depends on the whim of the manufacturer, makes me never want to touch that shit again.
This actually makes me sick.
>>52063361
>I just tried to help my Mum block a number on her phone, turns out this isn't a fucking basic feature of Android.
iShit user reporting. This is also a problem for us. I literally just add them to my contacts lists as "Spam" and still get phone calls that are from "Spam" every now and then.
I thought Android was supposed to be better, and I certainly don't want to turn to proprietary Windows phone, so I guess Blackberry is the answer?
