So /g/, which distro should I try next in my hopeless quest to find a good, comfy, Just Werks, goodlooking distro?
>arch
Surprisingly good, looks good with most DEs, fast, stable, not buggy at all, but too much DIY fiddling for a comfy system (more like a sandbox or backup or something)
>arch derivatives
Am yet to hear a good thing about them
>*buntu (lubuntu mainly)
Close but not quite bug-free enough (graphical flashing/keyboard unregistering, that sort of bullshit)
>lxle
A better lubuntu but outdated as fuck on the inside (an entire major version behind on the kernel, still uses sysvinit and shit)
>opensuse
Bloated af, looks like shit, GUIs written by retards
>fedora
Literally a meme, ironically limits my freedom by e.g. blocking chromium, GUIs also written by retards (theme settings not adhered to and such, hyperlink-blue title text on black background)
>debian
I'd like to actually get things done, not spend forever setting it up
>various distros made for 1 stupid reason only like debian with default xfce with maybe 5 users (like solydxk)
How about no
>deepin
Engrish, mac-like chink shit, although technically it was brety gud (bluetooth, wifi, sound and video working out of the box, first time ever)
>red hat stuff
Not for home use
>mint, peppermint
Ugly af, buggy

Windows 10, now GTFO
>>52101796
Yeah no, that's my main ATM and it is the worst piece of shit ever. I regret "upgrading" to it from 8 but the deed's done now. I want a linux on the side anyway because windows is way too much of a nanny, not even letting you visibly mount the uefi partition and such.

Any places like codeacademy where you can learn C++ beyond the beginner level?
Where does /g/ learn from?

I'm currently listening to this as I fall asleep.

Listening to what?

That is an album cover.

reminder to set this to false unless you want even more hidden telemetryexperimants.enabled
Why can't they just fuck off.
Why is it so hard to make telemetry opt-in instead of opt-off like Debian with it's "most popular package".
I just want to browse the internet without any of you fucks knowing that i frequent 4chan and youtube the most
>>52101197
Thanks OP, my home folder just disappeared.

what, you don't like being experimented on anon?
Dyson is the Apple of fans, prove me wrong.
Dyson's heaters are immune to convection!
>>52101031
Isn't the guy who invented them Swedish?
SWEDEN YES
Dyson uses spinning blades too.
The only difference is the blades are inside of the case and they push the air out of small holes in the oval.
Completely took apart my computer and cleaned all the dust out. It's now 10 degrees Celsius cooler on idle and 15 under load. Why haven't you done this?
I do regularly... now GTFO

Scene retardation, it's a Usenet holdover that no one's bothered to overhaul due to devotion over "group purity"

I once torrented the installer for win rar and it was inside a rar file
What do /g/ think about Debian?
>>52100338
One of the best distro out there if you are going to take the time to configure it according to your preferences. Also great for old computers
Not for impatient people out people very new to Linux distros
>>52100338
Short version: Not a great desktop distro, okay-ish server distro
>>52100390
Do you speak about Debian Stable or Debian Testing for desktop use?
I think my SSD is dying on me
it keeps corrupting shit
ive tried clean install multiple times it just keeps corrupting random shit after a while after installation
its ocz arc 100
what now? which ssd should i go for now?

Honestly, I don't think it matters much. I use PNY SSDs from Best Buy, they're cheap as fuck if you can get them on sale, and function well.
>OCZ
Found the problem
Newer OCZ SSDs are supposedly okay, but older ones have problems. Big problems.
IE the ones they made before they went bankrupt.
Samsung, intel, crucial, even OCZ. Any brand except: PNY: Cheap chink shit.
Kingston: Cheaper chink shit.
Looking for help please /g/.
A few months back I built my own PC, everythings been running fine and I had a graphics card bought for me for Christmas. (VTX R9 380).
I have previously been using the onboard graphics of the CPU to use the PC for general browsing etc. Upon installing the graphics card I could not get an image on my monitor, simply the message 'No Signal'.
What could be the cause to this?
My PSU is a EVGA 500B 500W 80+ BRONZE, Motherboard a MSI Z97 PC Mate,
CPU G3258, 8gb ram and a 1TB hard drive so the PSU should be sufficient.
Could...

Did you connected the monitor cable to the gpu ? Are the card fans spinning?
>>52100314
Monitor only connects via DVI, graphics card ports are HDMI so I was just connecting to the DVI port on the motherboard, is this the problem?
I'm gonna start college soon. is CS still a meme ? am i better of with SE ? or SS ?
>>52100106
If you think CS is a meme, why on earth would you even consider SE?
SE is like a stripped down CS, all the hard theory and mathematics is replaced with stuff like easymode classes like "project development" and "intro to SAP programming"
It's basically like code monkey boot camp for suckers because it takes three years instead of two months.
>>52100106
You should study math.
Yeah let's study software development but avoid delving into discrete math, data structures, and algorithmic complexity.
That way, we can all be Node.js developers and circlejerk on our Macbooks at Starbucks while we slowly populate the Internet with meaninglessly inefficient software.
Win 10 users,
How many of you are actually using virtual desktop function in Win 10?
I sometimes completely forget it exists.
I used it sometimes
>>52100005
I use it the same way I use them on Linux. Very handy to have around and in the latest version of win10 it works well.
>>52100005
About time they caught up to apple and linux.
Has Gnome Flashback reached feature parity with Mate yet?
