Hey,
I've recently installed ArchLinux on junk pc for thrills. So i've been playing around with it and I noticed that about every 10 seconds my computer is transmitting and recieving data. Sending ~370 Bytes and Recieving ~300 Bytes.
Ive thought about a few thing this might be;
The computer constantly communicating between the router and itself.
The computer communicating with a time server to constantly update the system time.
Conspiracy NSA backdoor probing for information. HURP DERP
Anyother ideas or explinations?
>>52178032
I've got a good idea, go to a tech support forum, because we aren't your tech support, if only you were smart enough to read the sticky
>>52178032watch netstat -t
If you are on wifi then that will happen. It happens to me on debian as well. Plug in an ethernet cord and you'll see that the activity stops.
Now fuck off and everyone sage the thread.
wait you mean to tell me DDWRT's firmware settings cant do something a 10yo DLINK can?
>have to fuck around with iptables just to block actual IP ranges
>meanwhile my DLINK with far less CPU and RAM is able to do this easily and clearly shouldnt require as much computation as a iptable rule set would
http://support.dlink.com/emulators/dgl4100/17/Advanced_Inbound_Filter.html
What point are you really making? That something old and less advanced uses less CPU cycles for one specific task?
>>52177819
my point is a firmware that's supposed to be more advanced and far more features doesnt even have something literally every proprietary router firmware has
the only thing DDWRT has that comes similar to this is blocking PORT ranges or just single domains
>>52177775
>Not fucking around with iptables
What level of pleb are you?
So I'm trying to install Linux mint. I keep getting this screen tho. I'm not sure what any of it means. Also it might upload sideways cuz why the fuck not.

Greetings /g/entoomen,
I want to buy a 9600gt because my integrated graphics crashes once in a while. Plus it has an S-Video out which can allow me to connect my awesome CRT TV.
It is an XFX, can I still count on it despite being used?
maybe new low end cards outperform old high end
>>52177662
This guy is giving me his 9600gt for $35.
New card options are:
Geforce GT610: $63
Geforce GT520: $50
Which one is the best deal?
>>52177768
Try finding a cheap 5850-5870 i bet you could find them for that price.
Going through my providers modem/router and saw this. What exactly is a Web Activity Log? And is this something I should be worried about?
and what is this x99moyu website?

Should i buy this one?
I only use amazon.uk
Its 25 pounds cheaper than other 970 on offer and there is a r9 390 at offer but still costs 20 pounds more.
I have i5 650 3.2 ghz and 1440x900 monitor,i plan on either changing or/and getting a new PC in a year.

>3.5GB
>>52177218
my monitor atm is 1440x900 ,dot think that will affect me anyhow for now.
I might go with a r9 380 if i get a good offer and just buy a new PC in like 6 months or so.
>>52177201
R9 390 for sure. It gets as good if not better performance for games than Geforce cards when you disable Nvidia proprietary tech, which is going to be passe in gaming due to AMD pushing it's new free open tech. Companies will adopt it because of it works on both brands.

Ok /g/ im looking for a little help on an issue that i think you guys can help with. Essentially i need some kind of covert way to record audio and maybe even video.
Heres the backstory- around 8 months ago i was falsely accused of rape. Long story short this girl slutted it up with me, and she got caught lying and is in prison now. What people dont understand about this kind of situation is even though she got caught etc etc. i still suffered through hell for months and months and now im a paranoid fucker that thinks everyone is out to get me.
What im looking for is a reccomendation for a small object that can record audio. For months ANY situation that makes me even the smallest bit skeptical i turn on my iphone recorder to ensure i have proof of the actual events(obviously so i can never be falsely accused of anything ever again) but its a pain to get out iphone, go to app, and hit start covertly, plus the recording quality isnt great. I already have surveillance cameras covering every square inch of my home, and i need something for on the go. So im looking for the best setup for something that will take one fast click to go, is easily portable and discreet, and will be high quality recording. Cost isnt an issue, i make alot of money im just looking for the best setup/item for this job.
Anyone have something in mind they could reccomend?

AMD Zen APU Featuring HBM Spotted – 128GB/S Of Memory Bandwidth And Large On-Board GPU
http://wccftech.com/amd-zen-hbm-apu-spotted/
Intel is finished, firing workers and selling their fabs as I type this.
>>52176827
If that's true they might as well just give up on the low-end.
The only thing holding back AMD's APUs is low bandwidth which is why Intel's EDRAM works so nicely with their own IGPs.
If AMD releases chips with 1GB of onboard HBM VRAM Intel is done for.
>>52176827
>>52176994
AMD had better not fuck this up. With certified shitwrecker Keller involved I'm quietly optimistic.

Decide to clean the screen of my TV after 5 years of never doing so, decide today fuck it needs a clean. Spray on some windex and lightly wipe off, then power back on and this happened. JUST
You're retarded. You used windex to clean a tv screen...
>>52176829
How could the windex have fucked it? The whole screen would be fucked if that were the case
Have you tried turning it off and on again ?
Why do tech companies still feel obliged to put an optical drive on big laptops?
> It takes a lot of space that could be used for something else
> Most people don't even use this anymore
> There's a bunch of cheap external optical drives in case you're one of those who still do
> They're fragile
I'm thinking about buying a 17" laptop but almost all of them still have one.
>buying a laptop at all
Just get some x86 tablet PC and connect a bluetooth mouse and keyboard to it. Problem solved. Get a Surface pro 3/4 if you want something really fancy.
That's what I'm gonna do anyway. I think laptops are obsolete tech now.
