What does everyone here use to wake them up? Do you use your smart phone or an alarm clock? Do you like your alarm clock? What kind is it? Why did you choose it?
pic related (it's the Soundfreaq sound rise I'm considering purchasing)
>>52183326
I use my phone. My phone does qi wireless charging so after a late night fap session, i can just toss it on the charger with my reoccurring alarm and wake up for my morning fap before work
>>52183326
>to wake them up
I eventually wake up by myself
I dont have a job so theres that.
What does /g/ think about Linux Mint 17.3 MATE.
MATE is a relic of the past and caters to a desktop metaphor that's quickly depreciating and gnu/linux to this day has never been able to successfully get "right"
>>52183311
I think its better off with Cinnamon since its a fork of newer tech, but Mint is good.
Mint itself is shit. If you want a distro that looks like windows just use windows
What does /g/ think of Windows Vista??
>>52183220
>vista
>was ok
better than 7
>>52183254
looks comfy
It's so loud and obnoxious.
so what are you looking to achieve with this thread?
>>52183196
I accidentally "turbo-boosted" my 4790k to 4.4ghz and my machine sounded like an engine. With water-cooling.
I am almost certain that only 12 year olds overclock now.
>>52183162
Get quality case fan that are not obnoxious, buy a something with 6 or more cores like a 5820k with a low out of box clock. Now when you over clock it you get to have more then enough performance for gaming and productivity for a good value and you have a quite machine because you did not use those 5 cents a piece fans that came with your case.
Guys how do I get an IT job?
I know python, Java, and SQL and I have a wealth of knowledge about network technician stuff. I'm currently a senior in college and I just need an internship before I graduate.
I don't really know what I'd like to do with my IT degree, but for now I'd like to start out with Network technician work as that seems to interest me the most in IT. But I have no fucking clue where to start looking for an internship and the clock is ticking until I starve as a NEET in my apartment. I just lost my job at olive garden and...

Also I have 5 years in the military working with artillery computers and have a secret clearance if that means anything.
I am in your exact same position. It all depends on where you live.
I am trying to set up my github account with nice projects to look at to impress employers, so I put it on my resume. Dunno if that works but at least I keep busy in the meantime.
>>52183179
I've been spending my time making cheat sheets and quick reference guides for everything I know IT related.
wait a second
>macbook has 2 ports, usb-c and headphone jack
>ipad pro has 2 ports, lightning and headphone jack

>'smart connector' on ipad pro
>'In computer hardware, a port serves as an interface between the computer and other computers or peripheral devices.'
>smart connector is a port
>mfw ipad pro has more ports than...

Why the fuck are there so many indian microsoft shills in this board lately?
I have $20 on amazon. Anything good I could buy?
>>52183037
Use it towards something more expensive that will actually be worth the money. $20 isn't going to get you anything great.

a nite with ur mum m8

More like 20 nights
Fuck, i done screwed up. Got new ram (G. Skill Ripjaws X), installed it, tried turning on pc, and my monitor is blank. The monitor itself is fine, but the screen just stays blank. I tried reinstalling the old ram and its still fucked up. Tried resetting my CMOS but it didn't seem to do anything (not sure if i reset it with the right steps, i was given vague instructions). Not sure what to go /g/
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Do you have a multimeter?
>>52182589
No i don't
What is the opinion of /g/ on ApricityOS?
https://apricityos.com/
>>52182330
>https://apricityos.com/
>for the cloud generation.
You has my interest up until this point
>>52182365
I felt the same when I read that, but when I looked into it, it meant literally absolutely nothing for the OS. It's just another regular linux distro that looks pretty.
Gnome-based clone distro #46793. Nothing new or exciting.
Still waiting for a distro that basically reinvents everything above the kernel to be more cohesive yet still *nix-like, using a Wayland-based from-scratch DE. Now THAT would be interesting.
>people that call their case a "tower"
>>52182143
It's a widely used term. It's also used in the sense of explaining how big your case is, full tower, medium tower, small tower, mini tower.
Omg, is this really what /g/ thinks is fitting for a discussion?
>>52182205
I agree, let's change to a more /g/-related topic.
Who's your favorite idol? Mine is pana
Did I get meme'd? Is this an "acceptable" amount of glow and/or backlight bleed for an IPS display? This is my first IPS display so I don't really have anything to compare it to. Is this faulty or just something I'll have to live with? It's quite noticeable on dark scenes in films and such
Is it possible for decision trees to split a set of data into subsets where the sum of the entropies (weighted respectively) of each subset will be greater than the original entropy of the set?
I know its a bit contrived, but can there be a scenario where I would need to worry about negative information gain?
Or will this not be a problem and all I have to do is plug and chug and only minimize entropy after, without worrying about its relationship to entropy before?
common /g/
lets stop shitposting and actually answer a good question
I don't really understand op, but I am curious about this 'negative information gain'.
How would that work exactly?
entropy always increases the more shit you do / add to it
so yes
>give family member old pc
>delete all of my very private, very sensitive data
>everything's good
>they do a fucking system restore
>they restore to a time where i had a password on the pc
>they want the password
HELP
i gave them an old windows 7 install disc i had lying around, will my old, buried data stay old and buried?
Why didn't you DBAN the hard drive first, retard?
>>52181706
because i was stupid
i waited too long to clean my hard drive, and when they said they needed the pc i just gave it to them
yes i am a retard
you don't remember the password
tell them to drop it off at your house and then you can take the password off
and then DBAN
So what is actually so good about Gentoo?
it lets your REALLY fine tune your OS to YOUR specific hardware
>>52181663
Nothing, it's a meme, actual linuxfags use arch or something.
You'll learn the way things really work, and you can brag about it on /g/ afterwards.
