What went wrong, /g/?
>>52193690
People fell for the Android meme.
>>52193690
Android, Palm being sold to HP, Palm wasn't big enough to sustain a walled-in garden

Phones for ants. Pre was tiny, number one reason I didn't pick one up
What can I install so that gnome doesn't look like dog shit ?
xfce
stick to adwaita and use gnome apps (gthumb, totem, geary for mail and so on)
>>52193681
Do you really mean that xfce looks better? The only better thing it is better at is just rice
Why would anyone buy this overhyped piece of shit?
>buggy microphone that stops working
>brittle as fuck glass that shatters easily
>slippery as fuck glass, forget about leaving this piece of garbage on *any* surface lest it breaks after 2 calls after unboxing
>oxygenOS, aka bloatware
>literally no support (water damage, u pay now, gaijin!)
>no 4G support for the US

>phone for Asian market
>doesn't support cellular networks in America
Wow, what an outrage!
>>52193566
Well, I warned you guise not to buy chinkshit? But noooo, your most recommended phones are these cheap chinese "flagships".
>/g/
>tech-savvy
kek
>>52193606
But then why are they selling it in the American market? Why sell it in the US if it doesn't even have 4G capabilities? To title their phone's 'flagship killers' and then not support high-speed mobile data is ridiculous.
So I saved up some money and a Christmas bonus from work, and now I want to buy a new computer to play games and do simple video editing for University. I want to be able to upgrade it in a few years without having to change too much, so I'm going for a build with CPU socket 1151 and DDR4.
Pic related is a bunch of parts I picked so far, but I'm not sure on all of them. The i5-6600K seems like a reasonable choice for a CPU with OCing potential, I was recommended the MSI GTX 970 graphics card by my boss, and most of the other parts are basically picked on a whim....

Literally just made a thread about this. Was looking for feedback about my build as well. Just sorta waiting on my CPU to get to my house so I can put it all together
rate my build, it's for dota 2

Is there a less-botnet version of the FB app for Android?
The official app is scary. So far I've just been using my mobile browser with SMS notifications, and it works okay, but the notifications are spotty and kinda annoying.
The FB API is open, right? I'm sure someone made a open source version of the app by now, I just can't find it.
>inb4 >facebook
I work in sales. Unlike you NEETs, I have to maintain a social media presence to be good at my job.
Try Facebook Lite

Steve Jobs is dead, deal with it.
Not yet Anon, not yet.
>TV show or movie
>complex machinery doesn't work
>character punches or kicks it
>it starts functioning as expected
Is the point of this that it's a loose contact in there or do people simply project the use of violence that works on other people onto machines?
Has slapping a piece of technology ever worked for you?
>>52192819
Yes.
I always had to slap our old CRT.
My first computer (prebuilt) started rattling something crazy and wouldn't boot past the "press del to enter bios" screen, but I slapped it really hard and it worked.
>>52192819
I once had a CRT television that would begin to flicker after a while of being on, and I found that punching it made it return to normal. I probably did more harm than good in the long run, but as a kid I didn't care about long-term consequences.
What are some tech things that grinds your gears?
For me it's any apple products. It triggers the fuck out of me. Every time I see a faggot with an iphone or macbook, I want to punch him in the face.
Virtual keyboards grind my gears. Blackberry Priv is the best phone out. Too bad they didn't bring it to Verizon. Virtual keyboards, every single one of them, are garbage tier tools.
>>52192805
You have issues.
>>52192805
Beats (the solo "cheap" ones).
What does 4chan think about systemd?
Nothing. It has no effect on me as I do not deal with it.

What about nsa?

botnet
/g/, would you be interested if I hosted a telnet server?
nobody
95% of the dumbshits on this board use windows 10 that doesn't have telnet and wouldn't even know how to fucking use it anyway
inb4 said dumbshits respond saying "le telnet is insecure" meme in a desperate attempt to save face on an anonymous image board and try to look smart
>>52192522
guess not
>>52192573
Weirdly enough that shitstain of an os has such low market share. Having a concentration of idiots on this board I guess doesn't help either.
/g/ ruined my physical fitness, now i want /g/ to help me improve it. What are some good options for running earphones?
>$60 max
>wireless
>stay in ears while running
>preferably not some flashy neon green color
>don't expect a lot of quality for the money, as long as it doesn't hurt my ears
>>52192497
Wireless is shit.
>>52192526
just want it to be stable, quality doesn't matter that much. I'm not going to run around with some faggot sports armband and a wire
>>52192578
Wireless is still shit.
Proof me that any unix-like is not part of the botnet.
>multiple million lines of code
>in the hand of a couple thousand admins
>high specialized C code only a few people can understand
Looks pretty easy for me, find a poor admin who is managing a essential part. Pay him money, add your botnet code with some thousand additional lines, admin approves, everyone compiles botnet code on their pc/server.
No shit. What do you suggest?
>>52192409
Plan 9 and Inferno are the botnetless way forward.
>>52192409
Can confirm. got paid off to overlook dodgy code submitted to the Linux Kernel.
Ultra wide 1440p vs 4K?
Hello /g/ I just dumped £1200 on a new monitor and card to enter the realm of ultrawide emersion in gaming.
I was thinking about 4k but the ultrawide just appealed to me more
Did I make the correct decision?
I bought an Acer 34” 3440x1440 75hz Freesync monitor and a Asus R9 Fury Strix to power it
You should have made this thread before you bought stuff. This entire thread will be useless to you now. Enjoy your fov issues.
>>52192399
2k is a major step up from fullhd so you done well.
just make sure your monitor doesn't have any flaws which would make you suffer for the next 4 years atleast
>>52192437
it's better than a fucking advice thread you dumb fuck
>>52192437
Fov issues? that will be mostly the games and not the hardware right?
