the _REAL_ problem with OS(x) is that apple have stopped caring or adding any new worthwhile features.
True or false?
>>55453306
Probably True. After Mountain Lion, it just stopped.

Hey /g/ I bought a cs1311 SSD a few months ago, and received an exact model about a week ago as a gift. Is there any way I can put them into a raid 1 and install windows?
Are you planning on installing Gentoo on it?
BTW each one is 240gb.
>>55453310
Either Windows 7 or Windows 10.
What exactly is going on here? Does it use a connector extension, or is this a shopped card?

Why do people say OSX is restrictive?
>>55453083
Most people here use Linux which is comparatively much less restrictive. And we don't care to mention Windows which is even more restrictive and has a fucked up folder/permissions implementation
>>55453083
Coz it suck dicks
>>55453102
Less restrictive in terms of what? Just being able to change how it looks?
Is Adaway the best way to block ads on Android?
What's the best hosts file source for Adaway?
Android adblocking general, I guess.
Yes.
Default.

I prefer hosts blocking because I tether all the time and as a result I don't really need to use an ad blocker in my laptop browser.
>>55453147
I wish uBlock were ported to Android.
Alright /g/entlemen
I don't usually come by hear buts its you guys or an awkward trip back to the shop.
I have an Asus 55-something running Windows 8. The screen recently broke. I got it repaired. Came home and now it cannot see my wifi network (netgear). Everyone once in awhile it gets a weak signal but still can't connect.
The weird thing is my other devices can find the signal just fine and with more bars than the laptop. I've restarted the computer, the modem, the Internet, updated the drivers and got nothing. I've run all...

The lazy chucklefuck that replaced your screen probably forgot to re-attach the antennas to the wireless card. You'll probably have to take it apart.
>>55453028
>>55453079
If your internal wifi card is actually disconnected and you don't feel like putting it back in, you can always buy one of those wifi usb stick dongles. You also might want to make sure this isn't a shady used car dealership of computer techs who intentionally break small things so you bring it back.

Has anyone had any experience with these Silverstone mini-itx cases. Are they too loud, too hot, anything you would have picked different during the build?
I'm gonna be in a studio apartment and any extra room would be nice.
There a bit of a meme but if you want firsthand experience check out their threat on overclock.net in the small formfactor sub forum

>Is X case too loud
I can never understand this meme.
So I made a thread a few days ago about a simple problem.
> Install Ubuntu 16.04, or any recent major distro
> Set up a RAID1 at install, or post-install
> Remove drive A (main), and try to boot
Of course no one came up with a solution, which was not really surprising. And we had a real retard in the thread as well with, "ure stupid XD" replies.
So. Here is the solution, as promised.
We place the script here, so it will get "baked" into our initramfs.nano -w /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-premount/sleepAwhile
Script content:#!/bin/sh
echo
echo "wait 5 sec"
sleep 5
mdadm —run /dev/md0
mdadm —run /dev/md1
mdadm —run /dev/md2
echo "done waiting"
CTRL+X , Y (Exit, Save)
We make the script executable.chmod a+x /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-premount/sleepAwhile
Not even sure if we have to update grub, but hey, why not:update-grub
And finally, we refresh the initramfs:update-initramfs -u -k all
>>55452882
>>55452908mdadm —run /dev/md0
mdadm —run /dev/md1
mdadm —run /dev/md2
This is the important bit.
Adjust this to your needs.
To check your md devices, use:cat /proc/mdstat
Basically, that's it.
The sleep is only there in the script because on the Stack Exchange site, a guy said it happens because the HDD does not comes up. That's not true, but...

How are HDD holding up?
Is it right to get something like a 1TB WD Blue for 50 bucks or is WD complete shit now compared to Toshiba or whatever?
Or maybe with the new technology SSD are becoming very much cheap enough to justify shilling out the extra few bucks. I saw something on here recently about a new with great prices.
WD isn't too bad, it's Seagate that's the problem. Toshiba's drives are hit and miss, for instance, I have 4 DT01ACA200 running in my server, and they have been fine for over 3 years, while the one I bought for my desktop died within 2 years. HGST is the best you can get, although they are quite pricey. The adage of "you get what you pay for" couldn't be more true in the case of hard drives.
Still widely used everywhere on servers. I'd say it will take another decade or two for it to phase out.
>>55452807
>>55452828
I would like something that is also portable, like throw the case in the car for transport and not have to worry about that fucking it all up right there.
Currently using all SSD in my case but it feels like a huge waste of space to have these SSD which have already ran out of space when I could stick 10 massive HDD inside.
