Agreed, nobody should ever do that

Gotta get my daily dose of Cancercraft.
Depends. Are you installing the JRE or JDK?
M.2 is great in theory and awful in execution.

Buy a better motherboard?
Wake up and realize your graphics card doesn't even need remotely close to the full speed of a PCI-E lane?
Are the any valid reasons to use gentoo over a binary distro like Ubuntu?

That's not a reason
No, just use arch Linux. You'll learn Linux better.

Just use what flows best with you, man.
Some like pacman. Some like apt. No one likes yum, etc.
Seagate Backup Plus Slim 1 TB Portable HDD
Anyone have experience with this?
Or more specifically, this thing failing? Like... light blinking, a whizzing, soft beeping sound that you basically know means this thing is fucked... as well as the fact that it crashes Windows whenever I try to access a file in it.
I've already given up trying to use it, I think it'll just make it worse, so I'm waiting to call Seagate on Tuesday (since they taking Monday off....), but I'm just looking for a bit of reassurance that I'll get my shit restored/backed up. I'm still on warranty so I can get a replacement, I'm just worried about the stuff I have on it.
I have it, it works great, you probably broke yours.
>>52461322
I know that it's broken...
Mine worked just fine for like, 7 months until it just randomly stopped working, slowed down, and makes whizzing and spinning noises.
>>52461305
Just few weeks ago one like this broke for a friend of mine. Was beeping and not spinning up when he showed it to me.
... if you mess up once you screw!
past experiences with computers of the 90s such as the feeling of satisfation or contempt for installing a drive of a plate or of how things burn easily in those days.
Yea, in those times anyone who wanted to use computers needed a brain and some actual knowledge.
>configuring hardware resources such as IRQ manually so it works correctly
>configuring all kinds of stuff in DOS (or even in Windows 9x) manually so desired software works correctly and efficiently
>>52463377
I never have to fight with that kind of stuff with DOS shitboxes desu
Then again I don't use many peripherals with them and I've started using NT whenever possible.

You mean post what you allowed yourself to remember, nostalgia is cancer.

TLDR: is there a way to switch the single jack on my computer from a microphone back to a headphone?
I'm not sure if this is the right board to post it in but I need help with my computer. Basically for some reason my computer only has one jack, and I've been using it for headphones because thats what its for I guess but for no reason, when I plug my headphones in now it thinks its a microphone and it wont play anything through the speakers. So I can only use one pair of headphones, which is one that has speakers built into it but its annoying becuase whenever...

Fuck you guys. eBay takes everything you say as gospel. I've had buyers say they didn't receive their item and get a refund, even when I used eBay's label and delivery was cobfirmed.

Aside from isolation, are there any other real differences between open and closed headphone types?
Bass lover anons, go get a SubPac!
I played 20 hours of Dragon's Dogma on my HD800S. It sounds okay to be honest. Haven't listened to music with it as yet. I feel like it's a side-grade to my HD600, it has more bass and treble relative to the HD600. It also sounds more spacious but this may be a placebo effect, so I can't say I'm 100% sure about this.
I'll keep it since I could actually use it for more than 5 minutes unlike the old HD800.
I know nothing about Linux and would like some links to help me but any advice will work, also are games limited on Linux? Which Linux is best?
>>52460769
>>>/g/flt/
See pic and choose one. Also, there are plenty of games on Linux http://store.steampowered.com/browse/linux Triple A games are still scarce, but it's growing slowly. For instance http://store.steampowered.com/app/268500/
Install Linux Mint or Ubuntu.
>games limited on Linux
They are extremely limited. When linuxfags say a game works they are not saying it is playable but the the game launches. It's the same with hardware, they will say its supported but it doesn't actually work well like in windows and sometimes it crashes for no reason.

Razer abyuss, I use it and I can do beatmaps on osu! 5 stars. It has right/left and middle scroll, thats all you need really
>>52460738
Can definitely recommend the Logitech G series. I have a G502 and I love it mainly due to its weight adjustment feature (I prefer heavier mice). The optical sensor in it is also one of the best you can get.
Mionix also make great ergonomic mice if you have large hands.
You talk so much about programming, but you cant talk about hacking because you cant actually do anything. I run a hacked network of computers that I programmed to click on googles ads in my secret website. I even write my own viruses to make people get hacked into my network. I work at home and have a bunch of screens showing me what people on my network are doing on their screens. I can even set it so that i can see the code of their computers. can you guys do any of that? I dont think so. I bet you dont know where all the websites real hackers hang out are either? if you...

Same thing, I use the fractal r5 case with mounting brackets that has rubber gramuts for anti vibration, when I move files or access files on my WD green it makes horrible loud noise and vibrates me whole case.

fuck off shill
seagate drives are going to be infinitely more quiet than the SD equivalent, after it breaks from a month of a use.
