HAHAHAHAHAHA! LINUX AND OPEN SOURCE SECURITY LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! PROPRIETARY SOFTWARE WINS ONCE AGAIN!

Hello /g, I have a question for you.
I got an iMac G5 pc, for free.
>No os discs
>No keyboard
>works fine
>still has old profile on it, with pics n shit
Wat do?
Aquarium.
Gentoo
I'm sorry, but unless it's an Intel model, it is literally useless.
If it indeed IS a PPC machine, install Gentoo (not kidding, seriously, a Linux Distro will work infinitely better than the outdated OSX) and make a server out of it or some shit
Daily reminder that docks are a fad from the early 2000's and if you're still using one, you should consider killing yourself.

so what?
packages and even your browser could execute code locally. why do you even post if you have no clue?
>planning on building a new PC this summer
>see all the news about getting cucked out of using new CPUs for any OS but Windows 10
Is it still worth it? All my parts are from 2008 so I think it's time for an upgrade but if it means having to use Botnet 10 or being forced to use Linux and losing all my Windows programs I'm not even going to bother.
>>52523852
>Windows
Can't reproduce your problem, sorry.
>>52523852
Yeah, you will have to use windows 10.
But windows 7 has received spyware updates as well, so it's pointless.
Also, most games will be using windows 10 as a minimum requirement.
Solution: Use windows 10 with this
https://github.com/10se1ucgo/DisableWinTracking
And remove the tinfoil hat.
Take off your tinfoil hat and just use windows 10. It's excellent software. stop complaining about privacy in a corrupt world where crime is rampant.
I bet you're afraid of police officers even though you're not committing crime.

Yes
Is there any point in getting a dedicated sound card?
I kinda want an Optical In for hooking up my PS3, but it's not enough to make me buy one.
Is the audio quality any better?
Currently using an integrated ALC892 and ATH-TAD400 .
i use a usb audio interface since i record stuff with my mic, and need little to no latency, but i'd use one regardless since you can plug optical in some of them too, plus they have better resale value than those shitty internals.
>>52523824
If you don't hear any hissing or weird digital noises from your integrated audio and it's enough to drive whatever you plug into it, I don't think a dedicated card is going to make much of a difference.
If you want to get a sound card anyways, consider buying an external USB one; it's easier to use with more devices and potentially less prone to picking up interference from other parts.
>>52523859
>>52523845
Thanks anons.
Any recommendations for an external one?
Preferably under $100 and I'd really want the optical in.
I'm actually quite happy with the integrated one, but not having to dick around with cables every time I feel like turning on the console would be pretty nice. Line-In picks up too much interference sadly.
Is the i7 6700k worth the extra couple hundred dollars more than the i5 6600k??

Which is better: unreal engine or unity?
>>52523753
Unity has a bigger community, so you're likely to find more documentation and resources for it than UE4, which only became easily-accessible somewhat recently.
It's not likely that any indi will come close to pushing the limits of either engine, so don't worry about it, either one can do anything you'd want to do with them.
i'd wait for vulkan to come out and just develop on it with a team of some kind. unity and ue4 have nothing on vulkan combined with bullet, opensubdiv, ptex, openvdb and yebis.
Problem:
Paratroopers might collide when paratrooping due to shit vision. Furthermore, they need to land as close to the target as possible.
The information they have: approximate height, approximate wind speed (prior to jumping they gather information on speeds on different evels) and maybe more but i dont remember.
What do you suggest to do/build/write to overcome the problem? All means are acceptable.
Person that jumps first deliberately lands further away and each person after lands closer.
>>52523678
Try not pushing out the door at a rate of two per second.
We have thirty seconds of drop zone jump master, there is no reason to empty the bird within the first seven.
>>52523678
Large scale paratroop drops became obsolete even before wwii ended. Nowadays, they are mainly used by special forces. They have steerable chutes to go in the general desired direction. SF troops are also hyper fit and can quickly make their way on land to their targets if they landed away from the dropzone.

What? Since when were routers specialised for gaming?
>>52523666
You haven't heard about gaymen HDMI cables yet? Everything is gaming specialised by now, for the heck of it.
>>52523648
The best router is literally one with good hardware that is also easy to flash openwrt onto.
On that subject, I need a router with 4 port gigabit switch, wan port and wireless that has good hardware and is easy to flash openwrt onto. Any suggestions? I am thinking of a newer revision of the TP-Link TL-WR1043ND because I currently have the Rev1 which was easy to flash openwrt onto but the newer revisions have better hardware.

I'm going to buy me a new phone in a few hours.
Do I buy Sony Xperia Z5 or Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, or a whole third option?
I'm looking for a good camera, longevity and speed
Wait for the S7 announcement next month
Z5.
Better camera and speed overall
>>52523530
If these are your only options, S6 Edge Plus. I have one, and it's pretty good. Z5 probably wins out in longevity, but I'm not much of a fan of Sony software.
If you have other options, wait. Wait until the Snapdragon 820 is in a few phones, and puck up one of those.
