I'm upgrading my pc for the first time.
I'm adding in a 120gb Samsung SSD.
Does anyone know where it plugs in?
Ya use the Satan cord if you got one and plug it in that slot on your MB right under your graphics card on the right of the board in your pic
You need to remove the motherboard to access the ssd port. There's usually a small connector on the back

Don't listen to this kid. He's either fucking with you or stupid.
How do you organize your downloads folder, /g/?
By not keeping things in there but instead moving them to their appropriate folders or deleting them after they've served their purpose.
>>52537921
What if you need it again or something breaks?
>tfw .12mb/s internet so i have no choice but to keep my shit just in case this happens
I don't.
Is this bad?
Typical
Nah you'll be fine :^)
>>52537877
No not at all
Did people start using Python 3 yet?
>>52537855
No nobody has ever used it.
>>52537855
There are some people using it, but far and wide 2 is still king and that won't be changing any time soon.
my compsci class uses it
How can I add a hdd to a mb with no header? Where do I buy one and I guess I just solder it on? Please help.
install gentoo
You see all those other unpopulated solder pads? Yeah you're going to need all those components as well. This is not really a feasible way to add a disk at all.
>>52537904
Which ones do I need? This bullshit laptop didn't come with a hdd it came with an SD. I thought it was a fucking ssd. And I tried installing Linux on it but it fucked up the windows partition and when I try to install anything it says the drive is locked. What the fuck do I do??? Dell curry fucks couldn't help for shit and apparently I was talking to the head tech.
Retarded question here, I'm learning java and was trying to make a program that reads numbers with letters, like 1k = 1000, is there a better way to write this exception than using try-catch?
Go to >>>/g/sqt
>>52537791
Iterate through all characters making replacements when needed.
Then cast to int.
>>52537791
int k = 000;
Hello /g/,
I was wondering if mini-ITX cases are worth it compared to mid to full tower cases? Anyone use one? Can they fit most parts?
They are if you really only need on graphics card or don't plan on using more PCI lanes.
It's really worth it because it's fun to build and use. Here's mine.
>>52537769
Depends on the case. Some of them can fit full ATX sized PSUs and these massive graphics cards. Some can do one or the other or neither. Case by case you have to make sure there's clearance for the parts you want. If you don't ever plan to use more than one graphics card they're honestly a very good solution for most people that gets overlooked.
>>52537769
as >>52537889 said its a xase by case basis as far as part compatability goes.TO be honest tho I dont think most of them are worse it since most still take up a large amount of space, the sugo itx case is nice but only supports mini cards like a 750 or mini 970, and other that are "console like" are usually thin but rather long or wide or both. the only itx case that satisfies my size intentions along with graphics compatibility is the dancase which isnt...

I haven't been able to find Wingdings 1 anywhere, except for a site selling it for $29. Isn't this available for free? Using for a small project in Java. I feel stupid for not having found this yet, pic related
bumpin again
If you have access to Windows, the font should exist as a ttf file in your fonts folder.
>>52537727

For what purpose?

>>52537655
spending any less than $50 on any piece of your computer

You're right, anon. If you can't afford it then it isn't a good idea, but pretend like it's your choice.

Hey /g/ I have 3 $10 Amazon gift cards. What can I get technology wise that won't go over $30 after shipping? Something cool like from that website thisiswhyimbroke

Does anyone still use Internet Relay Chat? I remember downloading some albums from it in the early 2000s. Where did it go? Surely it can't be that completely outdated.
Yes. Nowhere. Sage.
>>52537573
yes it's still widely used, what a dumb question to ask, thanks for bumping real content off the board
>>52537573
Lots of people still use IRC.
Freenode, Undernet and Rizon are still pretty active.
Especially Freenode.
Complete noob from /mu/ here, I downloaded a torrented file of an album from nine inch nails official website. It's creative commons. I know downloading is fine obviously, but is seeding also legal in this instance? Am I seeding that specific NIN file, or am I seeding all sorts of random stuff? thanks :*
>image from facebook
>nine inch nails
>questions of morality
smells awfully trollie in here.
>Am I seeding that specific NIN file, or am I seeding all sorts of random stuff?
That's up to you.
As for whether or not it's legal to seed it, you should read the creative commons licence, I'd say it's probably fine.
>Is seeding ever legal?
Yes.
Hey /g/ AusFag here,
What are some useful technology courses that won't become redundant immediately.

Look at Software Engineering, has the prestige of Engineering with only some of the Computer Science. I'm going to be doing it this year with a minor in Software Development. It sounds so much better than CS
>>52537469
CS is absolutely not a waste of time, many people here never went to university and/or only have certifications and are rationalising their own circumstances by trying to denigrate CS.
I finished CS a few years ago in Melbourne and now run my own programming consultancy, work remotely. I recommend it.
I'm also considering moving to the US sometime this year, but no idea if that's going to happen yet.
ITT: Terrible software that just won't die
>>52537291
Eh, it's not so bad from what I've seen over the last few months. Now, portal is objectively shit, but that's true of all server-side html rendering. REST APIs are nice and tidy in websphere and I think I like the concept of resource environment entries (REEs)
You know where its all shit? IIS and asp.net. Webapi doesn't even work on mono/xsp4 correctly.
