I installed Mandrake Linux on the family PC when my parents were away. My father was very cross with me, upon his discovery of this.

I know that not everyone on this board is a freetard, but the FSF is holding a survey to decide on its future strategies and how it should use its money. It's probably a good time to tell them how you feel about their politics and what they do with donation money.
I know some of you care about them and so I'm kinda interested by what you guys would ask from them.

I personally centered my answers around GPL enforcement, investment on Free hardware and software development and suggested they tried to stay out of petty identity politics and stop wasting funds on outreach program a la Gnome Foundation.

and you can tell them to turn that shit down
I mean if that bothers you that's the only chance you'll have to tell them for a while.
I'm trying to find a gif.
It's got a couple of anthropomorphic animals (I think? Definitely not human, but may be some kind of fantasy animal). The cartoon (hand drawn, not computer animated, but high production quality - not quite Disney quality, but not far from it) has two characters talking, one seated and another not. They're observing some flying contraption that's sputtering and whizzing around while the seated character "says" (through fake subtitles) that he finished the project late at night. He talks about the different languages...

>Any Doctor Who Faggots?
it took me a bit to realize you meant "Any "Doctor Who" Faggots?"
Hi /g/ I am on a low budget to buy a laptop, I have narrowed my search down to the Aus X205ta
https://www.asus.com/in/Notebooks/ASUS_EeeBook_X205TA/
It has excellent battery backup and is lightweight, good for my needs, i.e- Light browsing, movie watching and word processing. However it comes with Windows, I wish to install a lightweight distro on it but can't find any source validating if it supports Linux.
Can /g/ help me out if it supports something like Lubuntu or Mint mate?
>>52647237
It takes a bit of effort to install. Also, audio doesn't work, the other stuff works fine but audio not working might be a deal-breaker to you.
>>52647382
Gun to your head, at this price point would you buy this or look elsewhere at the same price? Need linux on it, maybe there's a work around for it?
>effort?
define?
>>52647237
I have this, using it now (but posting from a Nexus 7). It's battery life is really freaking good. Like insane. I wish I could help you with the Linux situation, but I kept with Windows and its worked really well so far. And I simply don't have space left to try a bunch of distros out (I only have 10gb free).
Also, I remember reading that Linux distros didn't really play nice with these processors. Don't know if that's still true, if it ever was.
Any other questions, I can help...

As far as we have seen, any free software that is financed by ads or donations turns into trash
plenty of examples, like firefox, or any google app
Reminder: google is an advertisement company. If you disagree count to 3 and reconsider again.
The 'free' service model is paid by selling your info to everyone, changing the conditions of the service at point blank, or basically shoving the features left and right
Examples: firefox and pocket, or google reader and plus, youtube and comments....
This business model rottens in 2-3 years, and...

I would but normies wouldn't
But I certainly wouldn't mind having two versions:
• Google Chrome Botnet edition - free, but mines my data and sells it to advertisers
• Google Chrome Premium - pay a license, don't get tracked in any remote way
Opera used to be a paid browser.
Would VPN and Common Senseâ„¢ be a good choice?

Most definitely an issue with your hardware
Never had an issue with it. Deployed hundreds of times for a number of clients.

Also they smell fucking great.
What is so bad about making money from apps you code?
I mean how else will you survive?
All i see is g bitching as to why popular crap iajt ffree and instead of supporting devs that do make free shit. They instead bitch about the quality as if said dev had the power of a huge company.
It's like a caveman made a house and made another house he ddint need. So he thought to himself. What if i gave this to another caveman in exchange for food so I can profit off my work?
Tell me why this board is so full of unrealistic fucking people.
You write proprietary software at work and write free software in your spare time.
This is the best way.
You can make money of free software

>there are operating systems in this day and age that ship without a C compiler preinstalled
If your OS ships without a C compiler, you should not be using it.
>>52646393
What does an average person need a compiler for a deprecate language for? And whats stopping anyone from just installing one if they need one?
>>52646393
like most os'es today
Linux and the BSDs are pretty much the only operating systems that ship with a C compiler. The real problem is platforms that don't have a C compiler except on other machines. You cannot compile an iOS application on iOS, for example.
