Fingerprinting is a new way of tracking you across websites.
It's being done right now by companies like Google.
Because unlike cookie based tracking you can't defeat it just by disabling cookies.
There is currently NO FOOLPROOF DEFENCE against fingerprinting (except quitting the Internet).
Google's privacy policy...

I know there is a shitton of scam going around: "PC Tweaker", "SpeedUpPcTool", "bullshit article"..
There is so much misinformation going around. I checked the /g/ wiki and there was barely anything on there that could help.
So, tell me /g/, what the fuck can I actually do to speed up my PC besides reinstalling Windows?
Does defragmentation help? I only use a few tools, for example CCCleaner. Do they actually do harm or do they do good? How much free space should there be on the partition w/ my windows directory for my PC to...

Either reinstall windows or install gentoo.
I personally use IObit Advanced System Care.
It's pretty good. Bought licences to cover my family's PCs. Got really sick of Windows slowing down and having to help my parents get their PC up to speed too often. It just works, I guess.
>>55481161
Did that boost your RAM x5? X-DDDD
Alright /g/, I know you aren't supposed to be tech support but I need some help, I'm at my wits end.
I built my own PC, and from the beginning it's been having a constant problem of freezing randomly. I took it to NCIX, and they said they checked it all over and they only saw it freeze once, and that everything was fine, with the most likely culprits being the CPU and the motherboard. I've replaced the CPU, the motherboard, and the RAM (I did the RAM before I took it to NCIX cause memtest said mine was faulty). It is still freezing and I'm ready...

Pc fault finding can be very stressful I know where you are coming from .
I would try another power supply , if that doesn't work it could very well be you need to clean install windows or whatever is you have . Make a backup of your current computer in case a clean install doesn't work . My guess is PSU or is corruption which can happen .
>>55481093
Is =os
>>55481093
I haven't tried that so far, I'm just wary cause (and I know dick all about computers really so who knows) it seems to me that if the psu were failing, wouldn't everything shut off, not freeze?
Are USB-C cables all just expansive as fuck at the moment?
>>55480983
Its called market forces you communist fuck.
>>55480983
Got one for like 5 bucks on Amazon.
When type c came out there was an issue with third party cables causing issues either due to quality or being out of spec . After that I would assume the increase in QC would make them more expensive .
I'm not an expert

Whats wrong with ubuntu?
>>55481002
latest update broke some shit with the windows. Some applications don't have the application setting thing when you hover over the window title anymore for some strange reason.
>>55481039
And this made it unusable? Your description is so unclear I am not really even sure what you are talking about.
Just bought some memory, how do i go about removing this sticker without living glue-esque stuff on the ram? Thanks

ViDock is dead. There are cheap chink alternatives linked that work well with most business branded laptops such as Dell Latitudes, or Lenovo Thinkpads. Consumer branded laptops are a hit or miss, unless it's a current gen alienware or gaming laptop.
>tfw mDP and not TB
:(
Bought pic related hoping a Type C USB thunderbolt dock gets released that isn't overpriced like the Razer core. It's now viable to replace our desktop PCs with a laptop, realistically. There are enough ports, graphics processing power to do it.
Am I paranoid for not wanting to use my phones fingerprint scanner?
I find it really hard to believe LEO isn't all over that shit. It's the biggest fingerprint database in the world
You already fucked up OP
>having a phone with a fingerprint scanner
>>55480684
you're not paranoid, there is already evidence of the phone companies selling it.
LEO already have your fingerprint goy.
Though, really, unless you ARE a criminal, your fingerprint isn't really very dangerous to give out, unless both fingerprinting technology and the ability to spoof fingerprints takes off in the years to come.
So I got this laptop that had a smart card reader in it given its a corporate lease refurb.
I have been trying to find fun things I could do with it with little luck.
Only thing I've found that might work is this adapter to use my Sim card and get my phones network on the laptop.... Would this work??

B... Bump?
Maybe we can just talk about what fun things there are to do with smart card readers?? And not necessarily help an amon on with his shopping advice how does that sound?
>>55480572
SIM cards might be fun but yr phone has the contacts and the info can be spoofed with software on the phone. though an LTE connection on yr laptop would be cool

Hey /g/, I need some help building a computer for my friend, he's just getting out of basic training and needs a gaming computer since his old one was stolen while moving back to Oregon.
http://pcpartpicker.com/list/WVRJ8K
This is what I currently have put together, his budget is around 900$ including monitor (Thankfully he still has keyboard/mouse) so I'm a bit over.
Is there anything I could improve on? I'm trying to get him the best bang for his buck possible and he'll be upgrading in the future so compatibility with a higher end ...

Abandoned.
Went to provider to find owner.
Said they removed their account info from the phone.
How can I use said phone? It has a pin
>>55480498
Flash new rom, you can even just flash sony stock rom and it should be fine.
Idk if this phone has a ''restore to factory settings'' option without going in first, otherwise use that.
