How old is your PC? I got mine in Christmas of 2000 and I still use it today.
>>53558330
It's from 2006. Still runs very good, only GPU was changed.
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 3.00GHz
4GB RAM, 64-bit Windows 7
500GB Caviar HDD
Two monitors: 16:9 Dell and 4:3 Samsung
Year 2
860K and 260X, 8GB ram
500gb laptop drive from a 2011 dell (rip in pieces), the windows partition doesn't boot
120gb Crucial MX100
15 inch monitor from a 2006 era eMachines, 1024x768
2006
The only original part is the hard drive, all the other components died.
So I was thinking of buying a new monitor. But I'd like a medium priced quality monitor. I dont play games that often anymore but mostly watch videos and use photoshop/gimp.
I was considering of buying an Asus IPS monitor.
But is it really woth buying IPS over some faster and cheaper TN? Is the difference that big?
anything of decent quality is meme
but you might want to get a cheap TN panel and wait for the next big meme: OLED.

Since you used the word meme I will not help you

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned here, do you know Moot works for Google now?
That means he shed his NEET status and after 12 years of making almost no money (or even losing some) on 4chan, he's finally made it big.
Hard work is worth it, kids.

I think making one of the most (in)famous websites in the world would count as "making it".
>>53558023
There were several threads about it past weeks.
>>53558041
He hosted it. He didn't make it.
I'm using Windows 7 and haven't done any updates since windows 10 was sorta new and I heard how future updates for 7 & 8 were gonna add spyware to your PC. Is this still a thing or is it safe to update my windows 7? There's a program I need to download for a game but it won't let me download unless I update.
Can someone please respond?
Just take off the tin foil hat and update
>>53558055
Sure, here is your respond.
Which free online programming courses are worth taking?
>>53557913
I pirate every book I can find and also every programming lynda or udemey video I can find on whatever language I want to learn. Read and watch all the material you download. If you're not like me and using a metered internet connecting and can afford the bandwith, maybe try codeacademy or something similar, I've never tried them because of my data cap. Force yourself to spend TIME LEARNING. If you dont want to learn, all the resources in the world wont do you any good. Also get good at math. Particularly...

Within the next two years, will it be worth upgrading my PC?
It's currently 6 years old, I'm still running a Q6600.

>Within the next two years, will it be worth upgrading my PC?
>It's currently 6 years old, I'm still running a Q6600.
It wasn't worth upgrading 2 years ago, let alone 2 years from now.
>why does every dumb normie even come here?
>>53557798
My point is, will their be a big jump in processing power within the next two years, making upgrading worthwhile?
>>53557707
CPU performance won't increase significantly in the near future.
GPU performance is about to make the biggest leap in years though.

Why do idiots who can't afford Windows bitch about how free software is better?
>>53557236
>buying Windows
If your employer or school is too cheap to buy you a Windows license then consider quitting.
>>53557236
It has nothing to do with Windows costing money
>>53557236
The days where we pay a premium for Windows are becoming smaller every day. Ad integration and other forms of monetization will take over the previous 1 time cost.

I have an 8gb RAM disk set up to use as a swap partition
Generally yes. I reserve 1/4 of my ram for swap.
Yes, OS X swaps frequently with only 8gb of RAM.
