It's called GNU/Linux.
Linux is just the kernel, Windows kernel is NT, you don't call Windows NT, right?
When will this meme end? We should just fucking stay in Summer time all year.

Also, Russia ditched daylight saving time a couple years ago. Are there any reports on how much energy they didn't save?
some of us actually wake up at decent times faggot OP
You want to move here.
but really it is pointless now that everyone is inside in an office anyway and farmers get up whenever they want especially since the statistics show it costs the nation millions in stress and missed hours due to forgetting to change the time. This is what a 300 year old policy made because of candles
How the heck does internets analyze 14 billion images in a split second? I can't fathom how this is possible.

didn't you know op? the internet is controlled by one central processor.

Learn about assembly and compilers and basically become a reverse compiler.

Why people don't use Celeron and laugh when they hear its name?
>>53569529
Celeron is Intel's Mediatek.
Why do people watch reality TV?

Let's discuss the future of web browsers.
I am really concerned about the general direction almost all browsers are going. I have been fine with Firefox for the last 11 years or so, but the recent events have made me flip my shit. This includes the adding of antifeatures no one ever wanted, like australis, webrtc, addon signing, hello and pocket and the removal of a bunch of good features everyone liked. the cherry on top is mozilla dropping XUL extensions.
If everything continues like this, Firefox will suffer the same destiny as every other browser. It will turn...

To be honest I'm more concerned with how websites are going.
If they weren't such bloated pieces of shit then we would be able to use almost any shitty browser like Midori or what have you.
But no, gotta cram countless of scripts and flash files in there because when you mouse over a button it needs to have a 4 minute animation.
>>53569397
this is true, but it can be dealt with with addons such as noscript. the thing is that the existence of such addons will not be possible if mozilla drops XUL extension support while trying to imitate chrome.
>>53569397
yup
i think fixing websites will turn fix browsers to some extent
i have always wondered why autist webmasters cram so much un needed shit into their sites
it just creates security holes and makes the site slower
What kind of t-shirts /g/ wear? I'd like something that makes other programmers/tech-related people get that i know this kind of stuff yet doesnt look autistic as fuck. Is pic rel okay? Should i ask /fa/ instead?
>>53569284
if it has text that people have to focus on to read (ie. more than one or two words) it's already cringe-tier
I'm using shirts I got free from a sailing contest 10 years ago.
>>53569299
would a hashbang ( #! ) be cringe-tier too or is that okay?
What's the best intro to Python?
If nothing comes up, I'm going with diveintopython.pdf
Background: I've watched the Standford lectures, intro to programming, years ago and got the files. I know Mathematica well, coded in MatLab before and am into Haskell (or rather I'm interested in dependent type systems).
Context: Now I'm going on a project where I talk with intstruments (visa) and write a GUI (Qt, probably).
>>53569062

I'd say it's a question with some information that I did some homework

Where does math come in when it comes to programming. I mean, all these people are telling me you need to be good at math to be a good programmer. I don't understand why though.
Anyone explain please?
math knowledge is what separates a code monkey from a programmer
>>53568826
This.
>>53568776
You don't need math just to program, but when you want to program interesting stuff most of the time you will need to express mathematical concepts in code.
