Can anyone give me the lowdown on what I can actually do with this thing? I bought it awhile back for reading textbook PDFs and I've kept it on FireOS 5.0.1 so I could crack it down the road and deprive the Amazon Jew of $20 advertising dollars. Is it possible to root this thing at this point? Is it even worth it?
>>53660630
Pretty much nothing. You have access to a shittier, less-fun version of the Google Play store, and FireOS is surprisingly more botnet than you'd think.
If you're going to get a Kindle, get a Paperwhite or Voyager. If you want an all-purpose tablet, get an iPad or a Nexus 7/9.
>>53660630
Look for your model on Cyanogenmod, there may be a compatible rom
>>53660812
What do you mean by less fun version of the Google Play store?
>google will force smooth scrolling on all chrome users within a few months
kill me now
I must be the only person who likes smooth scrolling
Though I admit the thing in new Chrome versions is terrible, I can't use that thing without the smoothscroll extension.
Are you serious?
On Firefox, that is the first thing I disable as soon as I install it on a new machine. I HATE smooth scrolling, it feels so weird.
>>53660271
Yes, they've said in their developer forums that they'll remove the flag to disable it in a few versions.
What are the top ten reasons why AMD is so bad? Why does Drake hate AMD?

Alright guys i'm fed up with amd's buggers on linux. About to pull the trigger on pic related.
What's the current status of nvidia, both nouveau and proprietary?
nouvaeu is a bag of dick, just use the properietary ones
>>53659748
Modern hardware from both compaies works fine under linux.
Legacy support for nvidia is shite but exists.
Legacy support for ATI is a roll of the dice.
Is there better chromium based browser?

Try not having a shitty display with shitty ppi with pixels the size of golf balls making everything look bad.
Yes, Chromium.
Anyone able to help, I'm looking for a site that does real comparative router reviews, not just shit out press releases.
My current router is having some issues with wireless, and trying to fix it could brick the thing, so I need to know what my next router will be before I go forward with any fixes as I have no internet at all without it, directly plugging the modem into my computer tends to not work anymore and I'm not sure why.
>>53659008
Bump
Let me just borrow you thread there, thanks:
What is THE best router at being a switch: 1 port, need it to split to 3, and providing wi-fi for a single small room?
Obviously i don't need 200$ one for that, max speeds I get are 15Mbp/s (~1.9MBp/s), so I don't need no fancy 5GHz AC Dual-Bands.
I just want something that'll work, and is guaranteed not to restart itself for dumb reasons for 8 hours straight (it'll be turned on only 8-10 hours a day)

Hey /g/
I kinda need help right now.
The company that "Might" Hire me wants to make me write my skills in a format
Format : Node.js - 2 years
It might be nice if someone can give me an example since im a c# programmer and not a js programmer.
Thanks...
Are... Are you this stupid?
This has nothing to do with node.js.
They asked you for a specific format in your skill table.
Meme language : turbo pascal - 15 years
Are you for real?
Are you literally retarded?
>mfw my retard dad types with 2 fingers
I type with 3 or 4 and I reach 86 WPM..
Typing with all ten fingers (like you probably do) sounds weird and uncomfortable to me.
Seems like retardedness runs in the family.
I type with 8. I don't use my pinkies. Pinkie typing is gay as hell.

Okay /g/ Im want to install gentoo although I know Im not ready but fuck being a pleb right, so what would you recommend I study slash read to prepare myself. Im not an idiot but Im coming from mint here so give me some advice. Id install arch but why not go all out if im only going to be dreaming about gentoo. what is the minimal install cd? i doubt i want that but yea... I MUST INSTALL GENTOO. tell me what to read and i will do it. any legit advice will be valued thanks for your time
just stick with mint, don't listen to /g/
Just follow the official install documentation. If you know how to partition a hard drive you'll be fine.
The minimal install CD is just a live cd with the tools you need to install; these are pretty much all standard tools you'll find on any live cd (mkfs, wget, tar etc)
I'd actually recommend installing from a less-minimal live cd - does the mint installer double as a live cd?
>>53657847
If you're plannlng to install it in UEFI mode, DON'T Ä°NSTALL THE MINIMAL INSATLLER! Install live CD.
