How do you keep the programs and files on your computer organized and orderly /g/?
>>53673431
appropriately named hierarchical folders
lump them all in one big ass folder
video files are seperated folder
exes are in password protected rar
then group them by date using windows explorer
>>53673431
goodass question.
i have a system going for the past few years with the files split into videos, music, pictures and docs. docs is a fucking mess. tons of gnarled directory trees of old shit and nonsense.
videos is split up into movies and tv shows. i host them on a server with a couple TB of space. music is also on that server.
keeping orderly is a bitch, tho. from time to time i have to manually sift through the garbage i download onto each of my pcs.
i have a few jobs that rsync...

Let me explain;
1. I own my computer
2. As long as it does not infringe on the rights of another, I may do whatever I see fit with my computer
3. Having any sequence of bits on my computer is not immoral, to bar me from having sequences of bits on my computer is a violating of free speech and property rights
4. By extension, telling me that I can't use GPL code in a proprietary program is limiting my speech, and in essence makes you a co-owner of my property
5. Therefore, the GPL is immoral since it denies my property rights and freedom.
I bet you're an "anarcho"-capitalist too, you fucking child.

Hey /g/, so I just did the math and realized I only have about 40 hours left before I can graduate with a CS degree (inb4 CS is a meme) because of credit by exams. I'm a freshman right now, so that means about 6 hours a semester if I extend that out to the normal 4 years. I'm trying to figure out what I should do.
1. Pick up a double major in something else.
2. Pad my schedule with elective courses so I'm taking the normal amount of hours every semester.
3. Become a part time student and try to find as many jobs/internships to work part time at...

3, 4, 5. Then maybe 1 later if you change your mind. If you're new 3 might be difficult.

Depends on what you mean by new. I'm a freshmen at college but I've been programming for over half a decade now. I don't have any experience in a formal job though.

bump. Learning it now, and if I can be properly dissuaded I'll go for something else. I'm looking at SQL and C++.
My background is I'm coming from R and want to get into a language that does things other than statistics. Also I'm working on writing a text-based adventure game as an R function, for laughs and to build control flow skills. But I want to learn a language that can be used to build totally new things rather than just interpret data.
I think I should to learn a high level...

When the CPU wants to do calculations and mess with I/O stuff, does the I/O always load into the RAM first? Or is it possible for I/O to be directly computed if needed and skip RAM?

How do you get into programming AI development?
I know some HTML and CSS but I've never done anything big.
Learn how to actually program first.

Anybody have any advice for a complete newfag who wants to start programming?
Start with something easy but fairly useful. i.e. JavaScript or Python, maybe Lua. C is a meme. Go onto C++ at some point. Learn BASIC for shits and giggles and make Commodore 64 games.
>>53671658
This.
Scripting languages are really permissive and will give allow you to learn the basic concepts of programming quickly, see if you like it, etc.
If you start with something too hard you might exhaust yourself.
>>53671682
I don't even know how to program, actually. I just asked questions like OP did. I really need to get back onto learning Javascript or Python.
I'm pretty new to Linux, I've installed fedora 23, it's all working fine except I can't change my resolution to anything above 1024 x 768. My monitor lists as "unknown display" in display settings.
I'm dual booting and I can get 1920 x 1080 in Windows no problem.
Specs are
Asus Maximus Vii hero
Intel i7 4790k
Nvidia Titan X
I've tried updating the video card driver, passing i915.preliminary_hw_support=1 to the kernel and in grub customizer.
I've tried googling the issue but there's so...

Let's say you fall under a bus and die tomorrow. All of your domains, email accounts, the websites you run, the projects you've been working on (and keeping them encrypted because they were supposed to be The Next Great Thing) -- all of that dies with you. Some of it has sentimental value. Some of it has monetary value. How would you go about making sure that all of your electronic possessions get inherited after your death, without compromising their security while you're still alive?
I leave everything behind to my AI and trust that it finds a way to learn how to use what I left it.
nobody wants your porn collection except maybe the fbi
No one cares about some shitty projects I've been working on.
