Should I learn Ruby or Python?
Can they achieve the same results?
Which one does it more elegantly?
My parents put Norton parental controls on my computer.
How do I undo?
How do you feel about adblock-shaming?
i hate anything that causes a website to awkwardly personify itself and treat me like a friend when i'm usually there because no other site has the specific thing i need
i only really use one site that has ads and that's 4chan
Since this board always loves the biggest numbers, what's /g/'s opinion on desktops that are designed to be low resource and low power?
Never really got why people are so concerned about the economy of their car and TV, and never think about that computer/laptop they spend all day on. I'm really looking forward to an ARM desktop, with actual storage bays and such.
Might even force programmers to think about their code when designing software again, and a return to dedicated video and sound chips like the OPLs and Paula.
Do these guys have any real competitors?
I fucking remember this company's BIOS on my PC 25 years ago, and I still see them today, even doing BIOS/UEFI on my tablet.
They probably don't have too many competitors. Being a BIOS provider is the same kind of market niche as being a widget producer (sole company that produces X unique part only used in Y machines by Z companies). It's not sexy and there's never going to be a sudden explosion in the BIOS industry.
>listen to /g/'s advice for once
>install fedora workstation
>can't even play a fucking mp3 in firecuck
and no, installing gstreamer doesn't help, support was dropped from ff a while ago
Hey /g/ quick terminology question: how would you call the sound when a computer boots up? I only have one word (novel title) so it must be as accurate as possible.
Startup? Bootup? My problem with "Startup" is that it sounds like these fresh hipster companies but "Bootup" sounds kinda lame. What's the correct term?
>not using Baidu
How stupid can you be? Is there any search safer from NSA and Mossad spying than China's most popular search engine? Obviously not. Get smart, get privacy, get Baidu!
This year I´ll begin CS at an university in Germany (Informatik).
I´ve got two options. A Bachelor (3 years) and a Diploma (5 years). As far as I can get, Diploma>Bachelor, but Bachelor+Master>Diploma.
Is it worth it to go or a master/diploma?
What differences could I expect after I´m done with it?

Which language would you use to code games?
I'm going to be completely honest with you
just go get Game Maker and Unity. Engines are here to provide the means so idiots like me and you don't have code our own tools to design a game. Save some time
In this day and age it's actually kind of silly to make your own engine. Look into unity, unreal engine 4, or cryengine. They are powerful tools and have pretty sweet licenses nowadays.
how does one get productive with arch?
Hey guys Im getting my mother a laptop for her birthday because her old ASUS desktop is a piece of shit. All she will really use it for is shopping, banking, and Facebook. Im looking for something with a 15'' or higher screen, i5 with 8 gigs of ram, and 500+ gb hard drive. Would like to spend $400-800 on the computer. Any reccomendations. Pic not related
