I installed Linux on my 5 year old alienware. Then like 2 weeks later my Laptop will not boot whatever i do. One of the GPUs (Nvidia dedicated or the intel graphics) is dead.
Did arch linux do this to my laptop?
>5 year old alienware
there is your cause
What kind of mental case gives birth to your kind?
>>53594691
Maybe your laptop couldn't handle all the freedom.

You may only post in this thread if you work in a Forbes 500 tech company. Unemployable spergs need not apply.

Just bought these negroes. But I've recently been made aware apple is removing the 3.5 mm audio jack from its phones. I can return them with no cost to me. Should I and just wait for some nice Bluetooth headphones instead?
>>53593784
Why would you use those with a phone?
>>53593784
Use Bluetooth audio if you want your ears to bleed. A Chinese phone has better DAC/amp than what iPhone has and this shit is going to make it all worse. I'm glad I never touched Apple phones,
>>53593784
there will be adaptors for $99
Does a program where you can get sound from multiple computers through one audio device over LAN or internet exist? Idk if this is the right place to ask, but I guess it's an interesting idea.
So i found this, https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/2dt4dr/how_to_play_audio_through_two_devices/
Found a solution for anyone interested. Enable stereo mix as input device, and get the audio through skype

There will always be a delay when broadcasting over a network, it works well for audiostreaming, but not for watching videos.
How difficult is it to have Gentoo as your OS?
Is it really THAT bad?
>>53593522
Not difficult but it takes time
Unless you have a really powerful processor
No, but you won't be as productive. If you like to tinker, its awesome.
The creator of gentoo doesn't use gentoo because he says he probably wouldn't get anything done if he did. Many people take this as a sign that it is a meme OS, but it's not necessarily the case.
If you want to have a close relationship with the software on your computer, the configuration and freedom, it could be a wet dream OS.
>>53593522
Yeah. It takes over an hour to compile and install Firefox. Bigger programs take even longer. You can install from binary for some things, but at that point you might as well just use an OS that installs everything fast from binary.
These APs are popping up all over my city, xfinitywifi. Are there any methods for hacking into one of these APs? They're unsecured, but request a user name / password. Can the username/pw authentication be bypassed, or does it have to be cracked?
it's as easy as
>connect to wifi
>scan for connected MAC addresses
>spoof your MAC
I can do it, for a fee....
=crackles wildly =

I'm going to a job interview to become a genius for Apple tomorrow. Any tips? I'm assuming I shouldn't bring my riced chinkpad and Nexus.
Don't be a white male. ;^)
>>53593387
Tell them you have an iq above 150
>>53593418
honestly this. The picture of the genius bar people are all shitskins. Due to affirmative action if you are white it is unlikely you will get the job.

Or you can buy a $4 notebook, a $1 pen, and take pictures with your phone to save them digitally.
>>53592960
And the Sony one is even more expensive.

What does /g/ think of KDE Neon?
http://neon.kde.org/
I am excited.
Can't wait for xneon, cinneon, and neon gnome.
Is this like a distro or somethin?
I personally can't deal with KDE. It has what I want, but its performance is poor.
>>53592772
It's just a ppa for now. Will have live images in the future.
Do I need to remove the cpu heatsink if I'm going to put my old pc into storage?
lol not unless you think the heatsink will fall off or something
Drain the antifreeze first.
Whats the cheapest you ever bought a working computer and/or phone? Asides from gifts.
I got a used Android Gingerbread phone with 100mb internal storage and a cracked screen for 5$. Used it for like a full month without too much problems. On Ebay I can usually buy them for 10-20$ easy

I need to know if I need a cpu cooler or not. And if there's any way to lower the price I'd like to know.
You probably saw me here yesterday

I don't have a use for a GPU that powerful.
What's my best choice that will run well above the needs of my steam library (pic) but not go overboard like the r9.
>>53591603
Anything equivalent to a gtx 560 or better can run that stuff. Get a $100 r7 370.
>>53590831
No you don't need a cooler.
Without knowing what you paid I'd do this for cheap rig.

replace DVD drive with a second hard drive caddy and another cheap 1TB drive.
