Heard some bad stuff about Windows 10 but I never really investigated whether or not it actually sacked. Either way I turned on my cpu today and it had installed it self. Should I run start up or tell it to reinstall 8.1?
Someone told me that it's bad if you usually torrent and there some privacy concerns too

You probably shouldn't stress yourself about this if you have to ask.
At consider reverting to Windows 7 and not this shitpile 8.1

Planning on buying a new tv as well. But I need (not need, but heavily used to) an ultrawide for the things I do that aren't gaymen.
Also in cold war status with my Apple employee roommate who has so many macs I can't even keep track of them, where the only thing that matters is monitors. It's not a matter of money anymore, it's just a big dick stoking contest over who's the bigger faggot.

WiFi networks are the biggest meme I've ever seen.
>advertised 300Mbps
>can't even do 200Mbps
Pure scam.
So, what is it that you hate in technology, /g/?
Any known memes I should avoid?
>>53702755
>inb4 Windows 10
assuming you're trying to transfer files within a network (and not over the internet), try setting up a ramdisk on both the sender and receiver and transferring directly from ramdisk to ramdisk
>Any known memes I should avoid?
Yes.
Why doesn't Apple add Touch-ID to their laptops? Make Macbooks the most secure laptops in the world.
>>53702466
Fingerprints are not hashable and therefore shit for digital security
>>53702466
Because, unlike iphones with locked bootloader, you can just wipe the harddisk and install whatever os you want on a macbook.
Just put an efi password so people can't use the mac when stolen and sell it just for part.
>>53702487
This, touchid is practical and fast (good for a phone) but not really the safest option
What does /g/ use for backing up data?
Trying to use grsync from sourceforge (for windows) at the moment but it doesnt include folder hierarchy correctly.

What are the benefits of Arch over Mint, or Ubuntu? I have been looking to make the switch from BotNet OS, and wonder what distro to use.
Why don't you just try them and make your own decisions? Or go read about them instead of trying to get the opinions of a bunch of retards?
Arch is cool because you don't have any extra shit you don't want on it. It only has what you install yourself. Also, AUR makes Arch irreplaceable for me.
The "Arch breaks when you update it" is just a stupid meme. I've been using it for a year and never had a problem.
Now, it's not for everyone. If you're not comfortable installing Arch using a non-graphical command line installer, and if you're not comfortable editing configuration text files, then it might not be for you.
Ubuntu was the first Linux distro I used. It's probably the best for something that just works without you having to put any unnecessary effort into it. I enjoyed it.
But if you think you'll be okay following a short and to-the-point Arch installation guide, go for it. It's not as difficult as everyone makes it out to be, it's just like following a recipe.
I prefer Void over Arch, same minimal installation and customizability, but less bullshit
