Does anyone else have the issue of this "thing" refusing to charge?

Why are you charging your mousepad?
>>53708744
Hue hue hue ...I don't really geth the joke.
>>53708758
It's not the Geth.
I remember back in time when people used to tell me...
>buy intel for work
>buy AMD for gayms
When was this real?, What year?.
What other things have changed over the years on tech companies competition?.
I also remember Nintendo wining the console war at some point. or what about Playstation.
Everyone hated Steam when it first came out

I remember hearing this around 2000
Could skynet or any aberration of programming that could cause the misfire of nuclear weapons spawn today with current levels of technology?
If it was that easy to launch some missiles, then a computer bug or a hacker could do it.
>>53708679
Fact that both the US and Russia don't want to you know is that at any given time, only a tiny amount of the nukes they have are actually capable of launching with even less expected to actually reach the target due to launch vehicle failures.
This leaves only plane and submarine launched nukes, which requires humans to manually load in order to work.
So in answer, an AI probably could launch a nuke or 2, but it wouldn't result in the apocalypse so much as it would result in a couple fucked...

No.
What's a convenient and affordable way to make your workstation portable?
>>53708528
a laptop
>>53708528
workstation laptop or mini itx build
Laptop with Thunderbolt 3 (like the Dell XPS 13) and an eGPU.
That way you only bring the power when you actually need it. Or you just go home/to work when you need it.
Let me just take a minute of your time to succinctly to tell you why Android has shit security. The FBI wants into your turned on, encrypted device from the lockscreen. What do they do?
>contact Google
>request gmail account password be changed to 'password'
>next the FBI logs on with your gmail account onto https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager
>if its not already enabled they click "enable lock & erase" for the device...

Now that the dust has settled is the the pascal/polaris hype overblown? Seems like they're both more geared towards power efficiency, not performance.
>>53708293
People expecting massive performance increase aren't paying attention to state of silicon, Intel's Haswell to Skylake performance increase should have been a warning flag. Node shrinks are getting diminishing returns

Hi, i am 18 years old, and my dream is to learn programming, i have a certain fluency in English, so i think that will help. what is the first step? how much does a programmer make? how much can i learn about programming here and how long would it take to start working on it?
You should probably give up if you're not able to google the answers to these questions. Like 9/10ths of programming is researching solutions to problems.
First of all does your computer have 64GB of RAM and have you successfully installed gentoo? This is very important.
4chan aint a hugbox kid, no one gives a shit about you here

Is a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X + UAP-AC the best router/WAP combo for home networking, /g/? Or should I just buy a higher end ASUS/Netgear all-in-one router?
>>53707941
Buy a WLAN chip and a parabolic dish and solder it yourself.
>>53707941
get a TP-link archer router, best bang for your buck at the moment
>>53707979
TP-Link is shit tier, especially after their anti-OpenWrt announcement. I've had nothing but bad experiences with TP-Link routers, they have shit range and speeds fluctuate wildly when using them. Stay away.
>>53707941
I use the Netgear Nighthawk R7000, I've had no problems with it whatsoever and the range is great. The price is pretty much what you'd pay for a Ubiquiti router and their AP, but I've heard nothing but good things about...

Hey. /g/. So I want to know what the best way to get a kid in to tech so he can be a tech savvy individual and not just some social media junkie like most millennials today.
Is there like a 5-7 year old tech game I can get him to learn programming, or at least logic behind it?
Pic related, its my wife's son, Ashton on my computer. He's 3 but I'm planning ahead.
show him how to use python
my nephew is almost 8 and understands python more than the average cs student
>>53707801
Don't make your kid a socially awkward computer obsessed kid plz for him
>>53707801
>buy rubik's cube
>teach algorithms
no need to make him another zombie behind an illuminated screen just yet
My VPN subscription just ran out and I'm looking to buy another 12 months worth. What are my best options? I have a $50 visa gift card that I'm going to use to pay.

Why isn't "say" included in perl by default?
Why do I have to typeuse feature qw(say);to use it?
Why don't tutorials teach with "say" instead ofprint "A sentence that will look like shit without a newline character.\n
I ask, not because I think I know better that Larry Wall, but because I want to know if using "say" is a bad way of learning for some reason.

I can't decide if the steam controller meme is true or not. Should I buy an xbox 1 controller or steam controller. I only PC game, BO3, etc.
>>53707552
They just released CAD of it, not sure but it may get better because of mods.
>Releases open source controller
>Still no HL3
fuckin' degenerates
It's not bad. It's the comfiest controller I've ever used. It actually fits your hand rather than your hand fitting the controller. The D-Pad's kind of a joke and I end up using the stick instead for platformers. They should have used load cells underneath the pads so you can set your own button strength since I have wimpy thumbs from PC mustardfacing. Otherwise it's pretty decent.

>his/her PC/laptop still uses an HDD as the boot drive
I pity those without SSDs and want to tar-and-feather the manufactures who still put HDDs in laptops.
>>53708307
i don't think you realize how cheap oem's get hard drives.
low end SSDs will have to halve in price again to compete.
>>53708349
it's worth it. Insanely worth it. Especially with all the bullshit that they install on boot
I'm thinking of going to college to become a programmer/code monkey.
I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out what I should major in however.
I was thinking of getting an A.A.S. Of software development.
However, I'm not 100% sure this is the correct degree. Should I be getting a degree in computer science? Computer engineering? Is this a terrible idea all around? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
