what is this gpu port. I've never seen it before and it doesn't fit in any of my computers.

Looks like a serial port to me.

OP here. Forgot to mention i already bought a laptop online. Its a chromebook. Found out the hard way that theyre absolute shit.
"Fuck! The terminal is returning a system integer error. Now my Linux system is going to crash and burn. Why do I love to torment myself?"
Before long, I decided to wrest control away from the unruly computer and restart it. A single line of text appeared on the screen "GRUB RESCUE." Ordinarily, the solution to this problem would be rather easy: grab my trusty USB stick and reinstall the Linux distro.
So that's what I did. I grabbed my USB stick and placed it to reinstall. When I rebooted, however, the operating system's media did not show...

"This is a shitty hand I've been dealt with. First off, my computer doesn't want to work, and now my USB drive doesn't want to work either! Screw all of this."
At this point, I decided to grab my laptop, which unfortunately runs Windows. Connecting to a VPN server, I remotely grabbed the installation for the operating system and put them on the machine. I then grabbed an external hard drive I had on a corner and formatted it to install the distro. Soon, Windows began to transfer the operating system's files to the machine. The process seemed...

The process requires a great amount of time and dedication from the user, which I would frequently have to utilize to fully make the OS to my liking.
It wasn't very long, however, before a problem occurred to the system. I tried restarting the computer and realized that the problem had seemingly gone away, but later on, as I prepared to end the day, the problem crept up on me. Soon, I realized that the problem had a voice, which had been drowned out. I opened up Skype on the machine, and saw that I had earlier missed a call from a fellow Linux developer, Ryan Shatner....

While I waited for Ryan to arrive, I coded a BASH script. Coding brings me great joy, for you get a program after a ton of hard work, but it's your program, and that's all that counts."
Before long, I heard a ring at the door. I saw the clock and assumed that Ryan had by that point arrived. Therefore, I turned off my computer and exited my (admittedly messy) room to open the door.
Peeping through the small mirror, I saw that Ryan was indeed there. Therefore, I opened the door to allow him to enter.
Seeing him at that moment, I knew why I loved him so....

Let's not forget that the mediatek chips are more efficient, offer better battery life and run cooler than the snapdragon chips while also costing significantly less.
Reminder that the heliox10 can be had for a cheap as a hundred dollars in the redmi note 2 while phone companies are charging 600 dollars for devices with the overheating and inefficient snapdragon 810.
They've also fixed the gps issue if that's holding you back.

Nice joke of a processor
So theoretically speaking. Should AMD just stop producing cpu's (or topple over or something). Wont Intel get in trouble? (As far as I know no-one is allowed a monopoly on critical goods?)
>Wont Intel get in trouble? (As far as I know no-one is allowed a monopoly on critical goods?)
Intel already props up AMD because of this.
>>53850130
Do you have anything to back that up?
>>53850104
Intel is a Jewish owned Israeli company
No they won't get in trouble
There are no consequences for them

Leap or Tumbleweed for desktop?
>>53849769
Depends, are you planning to use Open Source or closed source driver for your GPU?
>>53849769
Tumbleweed
>>53849769
I'm using Leap right now and it's pretty decent, but I have yet to try Tumbleweed. But as a BSD native, I tend to favour stability.

What is a good book for learning multi-threaded programming in C or preferably C++? I understand the basics, now I want to have a good text to read on it.
Also, looking for resources on just making and structuring larger projects. I have good knowledge on programming patterns, but I feel like I am just missing so many ideas beyond that.
Didn't really get a reply that helped last thread so I'll try again.
Novice python programmer here
I have argument called balance. And I need to run it through a series of conditions to return certain numbers. Here's what my code looks likedef aFunction( balance ):
if balance <= 10:
return balance
elif balance > 10:
balance = balance * 0.021
return balance
elif balance < 10:
balance = 10
return balance

OpenSuse is a proud example of German engineering. And it just werks.
use ubuntu and switch DE's or disable the amazon spyglass/search thing
This is the easiest approach
I'm fantasizing over creating my own OS with my friends, starting with the bootloader, kernel, then simple shell shizzle.
Bootloader motivation:
mikeos.sourceforge.net/write-your-own-os.html
Considering upgrading from my Nexus 7 2012.
I mostly use it for comics, and because I have a "dumbphone", my token presence on normie media.
What does /g/ recommend? I'm thinking about going 10-inch for comics. Also, something future-proof for Android N.
>>53849169
What apps do you use?
>>53849177
I actually have very few apps
Kindle for reading my pretentious /lit/ material, along with Comixology for my American funny papers.
Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat for texting/ironic shitposting.
Spotify because I have no taste.
And Fitbit, so I guess it needs Bluetooth so I can sync at the end of the day.
>>53849240
There's the Pixel C, which is really future-proof. But also, the price of a real laptop, which kinda defeats the purpose of getting one, especially for what you use it for.
The ASUS ZenPad S 8.0 is pretty good, but also 8 inches. It's also kinda a spiritual successor to the 2012 and 2013 Nexus 7es. Just make sure you get the 4GB RAM model.

dumb mouseposter
I honestly can't think of a single reason to use Linux other than Windows being a botnet but that's a major reason. If you don't mind being spied on then don't ever install Linux.
OS X is irrelevant.

thats the same reason why i installed the debian meme

>having a dumbphone is socially unacceptable now
Why? I mean, I guess I'm pretty normie anyways. But all my co-workers roast me over my phone.
I already have an Android tablet running Marshmallow. Getting a smartphone would be incredibly redundant.
who cares. You probably have a shitty McJob if your co-workers are like that
>>53848811
Tablet bro here. Why would I want all the stuff I already have on a smaller screen?
>Spotify
The only time I use "on the go" is when I'm hiking. I have Bluetooth earbuds and keep my tablet well protected in my pack.
>social media
I'm not addicted to social media like everyone seems to think you're supposed to be. If I'm going to shitpost ebin maymays on Twitter or chat on Normiebook, I'll wait until I sit down and have time.
>Send/receive photos
And I have Normiechat for that. Which my female friends use more than text anyways.
Having a phone then getting a tablet is redundant, especially if you have a laptop. Most people acquire a phone before a tablet, so why would they need basically the same device except larger?
