This probably gets asked a lot. I'm looking to upgrade, mostly for work reasons, 3d rendering and such.
Should I go with a i7-6700k? I know the dual Xeon 2670s are a good option OR should I wait to see how AMDs Zen turns out?
I am still using Java. Is there something better? What are you using?
>tfw you didn't fall for the http meme
The Sansa Clip+ is the best player with Rockbox you can have for that price, but it's getting a bit old.
When mine will die, I want to buy something else to change.
I looked at the Fiio M3 but the OS seems like a pain to use.
I'm interested in the iPod Classic because you can install Rockbox on it and change the HDD for a SD and a bigger battery..
Somebody is using one at the moment ? Also how does the sound quality compares to other players ?
Can you recommend a better one for less than 150€/$ and with an OS as good as Rockbox at dynamic playlist ?
I still use my rockboxed clip+ with a 128gb mSD that I'll probably never fill and a smartphone lacks basic rockbox features like a parametric EQ.
I think i will get another clip+ if this one breaks.
So when is this actually coming out
Here's what it gets you:
>native execution of Ubuntu packaged commands
What it doesn't get you:
>the ability to replace batch files with bash scripts that call Windows executables
So, you get all of the disadvantages of simply running an Ubuntu VM without the advantages of an Ubuntu VM.
In terms of *actual use*, it is *literally* identical to simply installing an Ubuntu VM and using shared folders to access your native filesystem. You maybe get some small performance improvement, but who cares, you're only going to be running Bash scripts, not services.
Oh, and you end up doubling your commands. Install git on Windows and install git for Bash on Windows. The shitty Hanselman video tries to sell this as "choice" but it's actually just confusing redundancy.
/g/, please stop the so called "botnet" meme.
Windows 10 is a great and free OS for gaming and working. Thanks to telemetry, the user experience is extending every day. People who think telemetry was made for spying are simply paranoid.
It doesn't matter what's the purpose of telemetry. You can disable in permanently and completely.
fa/g/s are just scared of taking responsibility for storing sh0ta ped0 porn on their desktops.
I've been getting this error since today, how do you fix it?
Getting rid of windows. New to Linux - what flavor should i use? Pretty quick learner.
>based on Linux kernel
>"OMG NO SECURITY SHOT SUCKS"
>based on Linux kernel
>"MOST SECURE PHONE EVARRRR!"
Really /g/, why do you think this?
Two things, first is that there's a fuckload more to an operating system's capabilities, especially where cryptography is concerned, than what kernel it has.
Second, the Linux kernel is not related to iOS in any way, shape or form.
How does /g/ feel about KDE
Plasma 5 or Plasma 4?
What's the best distro for KDE?
>supposed to have the most eye candy
>cant even work on hidpi screen....
>How does /g/ feel about KDE
Used to love it, since it was the only sane DE, meant for getting shit done.
Then the fuckers decided to "invent" 4, which was a broken, unstable, useless piece of shit. But recently, it got really good again. 4.14 is essentially perfect.
But we can't have that, can't we? So here we are again, and the KDEdiots "upgrade" to 5, and its a broken, unstable, useless piece of shit.
Tried it for a while, and after every single fucking update, every single fucking icon has a new look, that has nothing to do with the function/filetype it should show, whereas all kinds of bugs get ignored, or even added.
>Plasma 5 or Plasma 4?
Well, guess what?
Problem is, no distro besides EPEL7 ships 4 anymore (I'm currently still on fedora20…), but EPEL7 is missing 90% of linux software, thanks to the rpmfusion fuckery…
>What's the best distro for KDE?
suse used to be good, I guess I try that maybe? Or just have a look at lxqt
How do you share your knowledge /g/entlemen?
It just werks edition

Welcome to /fg/lt/, or as I've recently taken to calling it, /fg+lt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:
0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)

Arch + wm = minimalism from the netherworlds
Any distro + Gnome = comfy
Any distro + unity = I'd rather not
So basically search around to find a distro that suits you and then look for a de/wm that suits you.
I have about $130 in credit at DigitalOcean and it's expiring in a month. What should I do with it?
