Why are you hiding your reddit username OP?
>>53873206
i actually agree with the attitude.
every since i stopped expecting shit from people i never got disappointed because i expected them to fail.
when something good happens im pleasantly surprised.
following the learn python the hard way guide, i cannot get python to work in powershell. giving an error when i follow instructions to type in python
it gives an error when i followed the instructions to fix it by putting [Environment]::SetEnvironmentVariable("Path", "$env:Path;C:\Python27", "User")
i added the python folder to path in the enviromental variables too as it said but i does nothing

Hey guys. I need like a calendar program where I can click on the date and a spreadsheet will pop up where I can fill in data. I need to set up reservations on the spreadsheet for the day I click on. Does anything like this exist? I can't find anything and was debating on making my own program or website to accomplish this.
>>53872938
would take 5 min to make and you could do it exactly the way you want.

Just recently got a galaxy s5 active but I dont really like the battery. Are there any good upgraded batteries that dont add a bulge to the phone?
Also I heard there are no batteries for the s5 active that support wireless charging, is this true?

Hello /g/, I got a question, but first, allow me to give a short backstory.
So, I came to /g/ a few years ago, I found out what rainmeter was, found out what ricing was, learnt a few things, and I've had the fondest memories, especially learning about BBlean/Blackbox4Windows
Now I've had BBlean on every setup I've had for a few years, and feel happy and comfortable with it.
Futhermore, I've always been a Windows user, it suits my needs, plays games, blah blah blah. I love ricing, I can rice Windows fine. I've tried other OS' but not got far.
Now my question is,
>Where do I go from here?
I've always had a fascination with Linux, and admire the desktop threads I've seen.
I've been thinking about dualbooting, and I just wanted some advice for where I should go to from here.
Any info into what distro I should try/how2rice Linux would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, /g/.
For Linux ricing, check the out the Crunchbang forums. Unfortunately development has been stopped, the dev recommends just installing Debian with Openbox, but it's basically the same. It's a distro that starts with just openbox window manager and you rice it yourself. There are plenty of guides
The new distro is "bunsenlabs" but the forums aren't as filled. Check the crunchbang forum for guides, ask questions on bunsenlabs
>>53873093
crunchbang forums are based. they're like a debian flavored arch wiki.
>>53873093
>>53873108
Thanks guys, off to grab Debian to put on a spare laptop, at least.
Would you recommend Openbox? Because I know there's stuff like Icebox and even Blackbox for Linux, unsure how similar things are.
And not to be pushy, but is it worth looking into Lemonbar? Because I've seen that around too.
/g/entoomen, how do fansubbers encode their web rips?
TV rips are encoded from transport streams, are web rips re-encoded crunchyroll rips?
Horriblesubs takes raws and puts the mp4 and their sub files in an mkv wrapper.
Usually the raws are TV rips.
I don't know how they encode web rips, but almost no anime is web-only; even OVAs are given physical and downloadable releases
I thought horriblesubs used crunchyroll/funimation as their video source.
Recently a lot of fansubbers aren't using TV raws are their video source for current anime, question is what is their video source and how are they encoding it?
Yes, if there aren't any good quality channels airing the show (or nobody capped it) the video is sourced from CR often but also sometimes funi (more often in the near future since they're stopping the fucking hardsubbing) or whatever other site has the best quality. Usually the encode uses a few filters to try to clean things up like banding and other compression artifacts or the hardsubs in funi's case.

It will cost like 4,5 minimum wages in my country.
Why not just get a 980Ti? It'll be cheaper and have comparable performance.
My Moto X 2014 just got stolen.
Any budget replacement recommendations?
My last phone was the Nexus 5.
Better questions - what should I set up ahead of time in case my phone gets stolen?
Disable the power/reboot menu when the screen is locked, enable Android Device Manager botnet?

I have a question. Say there is a website that may or may not be running obfuscated javascript that, among other things, extracts information from the browser.
Are there any tools/frameworks/techniques for hooking into the javascript events and feeding it arbitrary data instead?
For the sake of an example, let's say its trying to fingerprint the canvas/an iframe (not http headers, that's obvious), and instead of getting the actual browser canvas/iframe, a manufactured one gets passed in.
just curious
>>53872647
Is there anything that would remotely come near to my question? Or is this so far out nobody bothers?
>>53872852
Its definitely possible OP.. didnt you try injecting DEZ-NTZ into the MOTH code?

I bought a Cybertron PC Patriot on Amazon for $500 and have been using it for about 3 years. What are some ways I can make games run faster on it?

Get a new one.
>>53871868
Do you know what parts are in it? If not then go fund out, upgrade whatever's bottlenecking performance. For games like Fallout and Xcom the CPU has to be powerful. Games like Crysis and farcry are more GPU intensive. Very few games use alot of ram but if you have less than 8 gigs I'd at least get up to 8. Learn a little before you post next time.

Somebody offered to replace my Dell U3011 for the newest 30" Dell monitor. (Brand new)
Long story short he's autistic and wants a 3rd 30" monitor but it must look identical to the other two.
Is there anything to consider in this trade? For me the only downside I can see is I currently drive this display from my 2012MBP. Max output is 2560x1600 so pushing a 4K display at non-native would look shit.
>>53871553
couldnt you just sell it and get another U3011 for yourself?

If I were willing to use a second hand monitor I suppose I could.

There isn't anything wrong with 2nd hand, just make sure that the pictures are of the actual item before bidding though.

Hello /g/,
I'm looking into getting a cheaper laptop that I can put Linux on and use for simpler things like writing papers and watching TV. Im pretty sure I'm going to go the used thinkpad route but are there other options I should consider?

Thinkpad T420.
thinkpad t420 is generally the recommended laptop on /g/
