If I want to format my ssd, but it currently has my OS system running on it, what will happen? I have the recovery cd so I can reinstall windows 7
My router logs show requests from an ip owned by my ISP to random high numbered ports on my router. The requests come from port 53, but why would my ISP be sending me dns pings?
If I block the IP address will it disable my dns?
I've had the same experience. Contacted my ISP some months ago, no answer yet.
Block that port, see what happens
>>53881803
By any chance could they be DNS replies from your ISP's DNS server? Because UDP is stateless, and your router probably doesn't track the replies correctly. The high-numbered ports would be your source ports.
Alright guys, I'm currently on 8.1. Forgetting the privacy issues of Windows 10 (I can get around that), which is better? 8.1 or 10? Should I take the leap and upgrade?
Sidenote - I produce music and do some light gaming, will upgrading hinder this in any way?
>which is better?
>implying windows is any good
>>53881714
>i can get around that
no you can not annon, you either don't understand how bad things are, or your are trying to convince yourself that it does not matter, either way you are wrong.
Install Gentoo
Have you ever assembled a server rack?

How do I make my own simple web browser
gentoo
>simple webbrowser
No such thing because a webbrowser is expected to do fucking everything.
>>53881570
Well, write / use some form of parser. Parse HTML and make your browser do what is written there and in the HTML specs and in reality.
Then do the same for javascript and everything else.
This notation for man page sections is the worst and most confusing syntax/documentation design choice ever.
man pages are a garbage fire
Wow how could I ever use that man page it's so confusing
>>53881391
U usually search for the option you're looking for, not read the whole thing top down.
Since the Internet boom manpages become more of a quick, on-hand cheatsheets rather than actual manuals.
It's better than googling every time you forgot a proper flag.
But some software written in "the old aeons" still come with very elaborate and detailed manpages.

Clearly you didnt install the GAPPS and also you should've done a nandroid backup. Your only hope now is flashing back stock firmware. Dumb mamahuevo
Should be able to use TWRP to reinstall the stock ROM, it's gotta be out there somewhere. What phone, OP?
also: CM is a massive pile of shit. Custom roms suck and don't work. Just get a Moto or a Nexus and root it.

Instagram for ios has a feature that allows users to swipe towards the right, resulting in the previous page in the I.G app. But why doesn't Android have that same feature?!
Go fuck yourself, nobody cares
Android has this thing called a "Back Button" so you don't need a gesture to go back.

I was just about to say that.
Is this a meme cooler? Is it even good?
Watercooling is a meme. A good air cooler is quieter and just as good. An NH-D15 or Cryorig R1 gets just as good temps without having that pump noise at idle, and with the large dual 140mm fans they're quiet at load to. Unless you have a really fucked up case like the NCase M1, any case that will fit a 240mm aio will fit a large dual tower air cooler. Air is cheaper, quieter, and better, and I haven't even gotten into the risk of leaks or dumbasses fucking up by connecting their pump to a fan header not set to 100%.

>Do you have Haswell-E?
Get it
>Do you have Skylake/Haswell normal?
Get a D15
>Are you limited on space?
Get it
Pretty much it.
Peak temps are close to air, but water brings it down faster.
Have any of you tards ever used FVWM? What'd you think about it and on a scale of 1-10 how based is it?
Pic related it's FVWM.
Pic related it's also fvwm
>>53880941
Looks kinda dope
I really enjoy KDE, but I've been thinking about trying to set up a more minimal wm with krunner, and just using that. I'll give it a look.

Dont 950's draw up to ~180W under load?
This would be low clocked ofc., but I still have a hard time seeing it stay within 75W
>>53880853
No, you're retarded
GTX 950 is 90W TDP
>>53880904
90W is just average consumption you ding dong, plus PCI-E slots cant only give 75W anyway

Hey /g/!
want you opinion on something. I'm finally moving away from windows. Im sick of spyware and all the other stuff. Im not new to linux, but its been a while since I used it.
im thinking of encrypt my disk as I install. Whats your opinion on that? im a bit security freak and dont like the idea that anyone can see/acess my files. But maybe its better to do it after with truecrypt/vera crypt? Is there gonna be any problems installing things on the system with an encrypted disk?
>>53880651
>im thinking of encrypt my disk as I install. Whats your opinion on that?
That's good.
Every personal device should be encrypted.
>>53880679
Thank you.
>>53880651
Truecrypt/Veracrypt can't do system disk encryption in Linux.
